I go the falafel wrap, with hummus, it did not come with many veggies on it, the falafel itself was quite dry and the hummus was not very flavorful. My partner got a falafel plate. He liked the meal. Let's start with the good stuff - tasty bowls that offer a large serving size. The rice was also really good. It came with hummus (more on that later) and sauces. The not so good - the hummus to me was tasteless and you don't get to customize your bowl. I prefer spicy and there were not jalapeños offered. Where's the fun?? You order via a kiosk, and you don't have any interaction with the staff. $15.75 is waaay too expensive for a simple Falafel Plate. Love this place! Had to leave you guys a second review. It's hard to come across authenticity these days but no joke the consistency of this place is why I keep coming back. I usually order their kafta kabab plate or beef shawarma or kafta wrap. Falafil & hummus is a must. Kafta was juicy & that's usually my go to. Chicken kababs good but second place for me I'm a meat eater kinda guy. Parking could be better but I never had a problem. Milwaukee can be busy depending on the time of day but I usually park on Honore st which is the side street just passed their restaurant. It's usually free in the evenings. read more

We ordered tonight because I don't know how to plan meals. I really wanted Mediterranean and somehow stumbled upon Rumi. Ordering was frustrating... when I went to the site I entered my address first thing to check whether they delivered here, and the site indicated they did. But when I tried to add a modification to one of the items we wanted to order it didn't have an option for that... so I called, only to find out that they didn't deliver here. So according to the dude who I spoke with, I couldn't order over the phone for delivery because I was outside the delivery zone but I could order online because GrubHub or whatnot would pick it up. Weird. The food was good. The portions were adequate and the meat was flavorful. I didn't have much of the accompanying vegetables but the pickles were pretty good. The garlic sauce hasn't replaced my favorite, but it was good nonetheless. I would eat here again if I was near the restaurant, but not sure about using the ordering system again. However, it did get here pretty quickly--about half hour after I got a text saying it was picked up--and that I definitely appreciated. read more

I normally don't review restaurants but I just had to today ... my blood sugar got too low (overheating + hypoglycemia) and I felt like I was going to faint so I went to Cava to grab lunch because a friend recommended it. The line was SO long and not moving at all, and I knew I'd faint in line if I waited. So I decided to leave and grab lunch at the next open place I found. I'm so glad I did because the next open place was Rumi. No line and online ordering at the front. Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food is my favorite and Rumi is one of the best I've had in the city, especially for fast casual. The employees were kind, the tables were clean and the food was delicious. I got the veggie sampler salad. The falafel and stuffed grape leaves (which I find lacking at most places) were excellent. Excellent service, although I've never been fond of the kiosk ordering method myself (I prefer to speak to humans). I ordered the beef shawarma sandwish, as did my oldest kid; my youngest ordered a gyro sandwich, and my partner ordered chicken. The food was very tasty, although I found the portion sizes a bit small for the prices--but hey, that's Chicago for ya. I thought the atmosphere was really nice--it's absolutely a family-type place, meant for efficient eating. Both the falafel and the chicken shawarma wrap were enjoyable and stuffed with a good variety of toppings. However I would not recommend the lentil soup as for some reason it was super super salty the day we ordered it. I thought it was more like Roti- style where you go down the line and build your bowl but it's actually standard plates. Prices range from $13-20. I got chicken shawarma and my husband got the mixed platter with gyro, beef kaftka and chicken shawarma. We both thought the chicken was well cooked and seasoned. My fav I've tried in the city! Also my fav yellow basmati rice. Good portions as well. Came with cabbage and tomato and onion salad, both smaller portions but not drenched in oil which I appreciated. The gyro and kefta were also very tasty! A little dried out but we went before close so I don't blame them. The only downfall was the garlic sauce but more like a muted ranch. It was flavorful and juicy. The falafel plate was a let down. The falafel itself was not dry, but everything lacked seasoning. The portions of the sides were also very tiny. It is one of my favorite healthy lunch options and I typically order from here once a week. I always order the hummus with pita, Chicken Shawarma plate with hot sauce, tahini sauce, and a side of pickles. I like extra pickles so I always order the additional side. The plate is a nice portion and comes with yellow rice, chicken shawarma, fresh cucumber & tomato salad, chopped romaine, and pickles. Lentils were mushy, likely over blended and over cooked. Still homey and comforting, but below average from one of my favorite dishes. Falafel pita - 3.5/5.
