The atmosphere is out of the world. We partied on a Friday night and the Swiss, along with the many foreigners in attendance, come out to enjoy the night. It was a party for the ages. Part of our crew did not want to leave. And yet we remained 'till closing. Knowing that the next day we would pay the price.

Last week was the first time I came on a Thursday, and I was surprised to find it packed. Don't people have to work or go to school on Friday?? I only hung out for about an hour because I had promised to join my friend for a little bit after our dept xmas party, but it was still fun to get our groove on... and burn off some of our massive dinner. ;) I've heard some complaints about this place trying to be too posh, but all of my friends love it, and I've felt equally comfortable dancing in a black cocktail dress and also jeans and a tank top. (Or in the case of last Thursday, what I wore to work.)

Last weekend they we're playing oldies. But... It works. And sometimes they're remixed or whatever, but it's always dance-able. It's refreshing to have a cool club that plays a funky eclectic mix that differs from the majority. Sort of typical look... a downstairs, basement-y, small, funky place that does get tight but not uptight. And if it's not uptight, it's ok to be tight. I mean, you don't have to be bothered bumping into people, cause everybody's cool, but not TOO cool... Know what I mean?

When I visited they had a great live free-style hip-hop, show put on by two guys from Berlin. The show was top-notch, the sound great, and the crowd was well mixed and hopping. Strange to be at a live hip-hop show and not a brother there to representing the black man, but whatever. Since there was a live show, there was a 14 CHF cover which I though was worth every cent. Drink prices where also quite reasonable, costing 6ish CHF for mixed drinks and wine. The people working there where very laid back and friendly. Worth noting here is when you order vodka, they will not understand you unless you pronounce it vood-ka, but maybe they where just giving the foreigner some shit. :) The location is stumbling distance from the Hardbrüke station, nice to know when it is pissing rain. Over all I highly recommend Helsinki as a drinking and live music venue.

Seemed to have a great bar selection, plus had some booths/tables off to the side for real dine-in experience. Bothered me that the fog machine went off in the middle of eating and I'd never experienced that before. It was funny, but having it blow right in my face unexpectedly as I ate was kinda ick. Oh well. I would return here anyway, to try their other food or if I can't find another better pub in the area. It certainly helps that they speak English! lol
