The hallway was where he was made to sit in and have a private conversation with the doctor.
    Isasol C.

The worst experience of my life came in the ER, and the ER doctors' excuse as to why he did not order a test promptly was that he was overwhelmed. At first, he was extremely rude and dismissive of my husband's concerns. As soon as he realized he had made a mistake, his attitude completely changed, and he was apologetic, but his reason was so disturbing: "Due to the high volume of patients, I wish I had ordered the ultrasound sooner. Mind you, they only have 22 beds available. As I walked around, not all of those 22 beds were filled; they had about five rooms open. My husband was in the hallway, where everyone was passing by, listening to what was going on. No privacy whatsoever. Now we are at the TENTH HOUR, and now we just put in for an ultrasound, which should have happened as soon as we walked in or shortly after. After waiting for 45 minutes for an ultrasound, I asked how much longer he had to wait. At this point, I want him transferred over to Northwestern Hospital. This is unacceptable. Rush is regarded as one of the top hospitals, but clearly, that is not the case. I WILL NEVER BE BACK AGAIN. This hospital has no regard for the Latino or Black patients.

BP cuff marks left on my arm

Don'T DO IT!!! 0 stars if I could. I was released in an incredible amount of pain so that Rush ER could open another bed. Doctor just starting his rounds had to physically help me to bathroom, help wipe me & help me get dressed while i was screaming. They should be closed down. Nurse updated clinical notes patient refused test. What I said re: retaking a normal BP , was look at my are. The BP cuff left these marks. She said, we'll just skip it. Look at my arm. Abnormal markMing's after 1 hour BP cuff on

Your staff is low censused twice a week. You don't have enough parking for the amount of staff that you have and the culture of your facility is horrible, Amongst so many other reasons that I'm choosing to keep private for the sake of professionalism I will never recommend or work for another Rush Hospital.

The medical team, Dr. Pryor,Marlen,Melody, Claudia and Nurse Brandon, took the time to listen to my concerns, explained everything clearly, and made sure I was comfortable with my treatment plan. What stood out most was the level of compassion and attention to detail--everyone I encountered treated me with respect and genuine kindness. Most of the Hospital is empty anyway. Maybe was a good hospital decades ago. Health plan includes stalling procedures and care to suck Medicare money. Very little continuity of care. The good news is my knee does not have any pain a year later BUT the horrific news is everything that follow. My bill was 4x more expensive than originally priced at, the customer/patient services is horrendous, no one wants to talk to you over the phone and I've been hung up on multiple times. I can't say enough bad things about this hospital and my overall experience. Actually, the worst thing I went through during this time was them forcing me to take a medicinal device home after my surgery... no matter how many times I told them NO. They figured a way to sneak it into the trunk of my car while I was still on anesthesia... so they charged me for that, something I never used ($1k+). Just terrible patient experience. I'm going to make sure to post this review on all platforms as well, so everyone knows ahead of time. Trying to help the community not experience what I went through.

I've been in the emergency room for about two hours with my 80-year-old mother, and unfortunately, the environment has been far from what I remember. Staff members were openly using profanity and engaging in inappropriate conversations within earshot of patients. It was uncomfortable and honestly disheartening--especially for someone of my mother's age to have to sit and listen to. I've been coming here for over 40 years, and I never expected to see such a decline in professionalism. As someone who works in the medical field, I understand how demanding these environments can be, but maintaining a respectful and appropriate atmosphere should always be a priority. This experience was upsetting, and I truly hope this feedback is taken seriously. I will be following up further regarding this concern. I guess this is the quality that Loyola is now, such a disappointment. The only thing I can say positive is the chaplain who came down with kindness and compassion.

I want to be very honest with this review of Loyola University Medical Center…read more We arrived on Easter Sunday night after being transferred from another hospital, and I was truly grateful we made it. The ICU staff on the 2nd floor were exceptional--kind, professional, and attentive. They consistently checked on us and treated both patients and family with care and respect during a very difficult time. However, after a few days, we were moved to the 3rd floor, and the experience changed significantly. During overnight hours--around 2 AM--the environment has been surprisingly loud. I heard staff using profanity, watching videos or news on their phones at high volume, and openly complaining about long shifts. I understand healthcare is demanding, but this is a hospital setting, and patients (and their families) can hear everything. My relative is here receiving end-of-life care, so I stay overnight. At one point, a nurse questioned my presence rather abruptly before knowing the situation. To her credit, she apologized once she understood, but in moments like these, a little more compassion upfront goes a long way. One of the nurse was rude and jist keep using profanity and stated this is who she is. Wow, Loyola use to have professional nursing staff, what happened? I also noticed interactions where staff spoke to patients in a very casual, sometimes inappropriate tone. Maybe I'm a bit old-fashioned, but professionalism matters--especially in a place where people are vulnerable, grieving, and trying to find peace. My takeaway: There is clearly a strong, compassionate team here--as seen in the ICU--but consistency matters. Professionalism, awareness, and respect should be maintained across all floors, especially during overnight hours. Hospitals should feel calm and supportive, not loud or chaotic. Patients and families deserve that--especially during life's most difficult moments. I will give a 4 star due to our first encounter here and the kindness nurses such as Nicole and Quand and Jordan. Very kind d and attentive. And I just heard 2 nurses use profanity to another nurse. I am sincerely flabbergasted that they speak like this so openly and there are patients present in their rooms. The level of unprofessionalism is amazing, and i am really saddened by this as this hospital was once top hospital. Being part of the joint commission will definitely reflect not only my review, but how I move forward. This is really upsetting me.

After reading the reviews I didn't want her at Riveredge, but the hospital staff told me that Riveredge was the only location that had an available bed. Her being there has kept me up at night. my daughter has gotten into two physical altercations and my daughter is not a fighter. She told me that a girl just walked up to her, punched her in her face and jaw, and it was swollen and she was in a lot of pain. No one from the facility called to tell me that my daughter was involved in an altercation. I had to hear from my daughter when she called during their one hour phone time. I've left over four messages for her therapist. No one has returned my call. I've also left messages for the nurse and the doctor. I don't know how my daughter could possibly walk out of here better than she was when she went in. This is not the type of care I had in mind for my daughter.
