Did not really know what to expect from this restaurant as I haven't really had authentic Russian food before. After this meal, though, I'll certainly come back. We came as a group of 4 which was great because we could order a bunch of things and share all of it, meaning I got to try various specialties. We also had a bit of a cheat code (a Russian person) with us, to help choose all the best things from the menu. We had borscht, herring salad, Siberian dumplings, kebab pork, beef stroganoff, and beef pilaf (fried rice), and don't forget the desserts - the Neapolitan cake and the honey cake. Also had some cherry kompot and some mors (berry juice). Everything was great! For me, the standouts were the borscht and the honey cake. Prices were reasonable for our feast. The service was very friendly and happy to recommend things for us to try as well. The food came out quickly and we emptied the plates even quicker. Without having much to compare this to, I'd give this 5 stars. But don't just trust my opinion. The Russian in our group agreed it was delicious, so take that for what it's worth. Did not go to the bathroom house part of the building, but it did look busy over there. Give it a try!

Ever since all Russian food options closed in Austin, I take any opportunity to enjoy it elsewhere. I've had this spot on my radar for a while but I didn't have a reason to come to Dallas in a while. Since we were in town for the thanksgiving, we went here for dinner. We ordered family style so everyone could try different things. Shuba salad - [5/5] super authentic and very nostalgic flavor. Proceed with caution if you are not familiar with pickled fish though. It is a very fishy and hearty holiday salad. Borsht - [5/5] although not as fatty as I normally make it at home, it was still a great soup. I appreciate the fact that there was no celery in it and that it wasn't overly sweet (some places add a bit too much sugar). It goes with some dark rye (?) bread. Also the portion is HUGE. The picture shows only a half of it as our server kindly suggested to split it into two plates when we told her our party shares everything. Plov (pilaf) - [4/5] a solid plov but just a little dry to my taste and I personally prefer it with lamb because that's how my dad would normally make it. Still a great dish worth trying! Pelmeni (dumplings) - [5/5] we had Siberian ones. I'm not sure if they're house made or purchased but they were really good. I ordered brothy option for the table to make sure they're juicy and stay warm while we have other food. Shashlik - [5/5] we ordered pork option with buckwheat. Normally we would not get it with buckwheat, but wanted the rest of the party to try it as well. They serve it with cholula on side which was an interesting twist. I really would never think of combining the two. The meat was well seasoned and juicy! Beef stroganoff - [-] I don't have a rating because I was too full by the time it hit the table, but everyone else ended it and it looked really good! Napoleon cake - [5/5] it's a classic: flaky, sweet, creamy. If you're have a sweet tooth, this is for you for sure! Honey Cake - [6/5] this is my all time favorite desert. It was not too sweet and biscuit was not dry and flavorful. My boyfriend and I had beers while his family had berry drinks: kompot and mors. Mors was the most enjoyed since they got a whole carton of it after just getting a glass. We didn't do banya this time but when we peeked it looked like people had a blast there lol Overall, a very authentic experience and I would most definitely love to come back when in town!

This is for the restaurant and not the spa. I've seen this place ever since I moved here like 9 years ago, and ironically I just moved to another state. Thankfully, we went to eat here. I am a fan of it and glad. The service was great, and I feel like I offended them by not eating all of my Kvas. I just wanted a breath of freshness from this soup before the meal itself. We had the blacktea soda, I'm not going to try to pronounce it on this. It was fantastic and not too sweet. Same for the cherry drink. As for food itself. Let's talk about it. I had the serbian dumplings, and OMG it was amazing. Delicious. Make with love, butter, butter, and butter. My wife had the chicken cutlets and mash potatoes, which again. amazing. They made some absolutely amazing food, and her friend had the "French onion" rendition of the soup. It's such a nice place to enjoy our last meal before leaving the state. I'm glad we did. This is totally different than your typical place btw. Just enjoy, drink, and enjoy your company.

Going for a taste of dishes I grew up on and they didn't miss here. The restaurant has late or later hours, maybe to cater to the bathhouse, so they are a convenient stop. More of a "ballroom" type restaurant but has a small bar and good menu choices. Was eager to try the golubsti, the cabbage just melts in your mouth, I would have been good doing to orders of these they were so good. The varenyky are small dumplings so bite sized goodness. They are very friendly and accommodating even for later visits. Must stop by if you're searching for traditional dishes!

Volga Restaurant (inside this establishment) was a delicious find. I ordered the stuffed cabbage (and a plate of pickled veggies): all of it was delicious. And wait was not long for it all.

Excellent food, takes some time to prepare which they let u know I'm advance but well worth the wait We enjoyed all the food including the honey cake made in-house. Very friendly people and great service. Can't wait to come back and try out rest of the menu

The best banya in Texas, it doesn't get better than this. Our every experience in the "Russian Banya" is very pleasant and enjoyable. It has this specific Slavic vibe to it and I absolutely love it because it reminds me of home. The staff is very loving and helpful. The banya itself is pretty big, it can fit many people and it doesn't get too crowded. And banya temperature gets really hot, especially if you splash water on the rocks - your gym sauna doesn't even stand near. There is aroma therapy every day and the owner Misha makes it truly unforgettable. The cold plunge is COLD, not for the weak. Decent 45F (6C) water temperature makes you see what you're made of. The price is you pay $70 + tip and you can go for the entire week for as much time as you want, in my opinion, it's 100% worth it. If you get a monthly or yearly membership then it's cheaper. They also have additional massage services, venik, and you can buy a banya hat :) There is a delicious Slavic cuisine restaurant and the food really reminds me of my grandma's. Make sure you don't skip dessert :) As a Ukrainian, it makes me very happy that "Russian Banya" stands with Ukraine and I will gladly bring my friends here and come back again. Thank you!

Shuba (herring under fur coat), so good we started to dig in before taking a picture

I met met my family for a dinner at Restaurant Volga (the restaurant inside Russian Banya) when were in Dallas for an overnight layover at DFW, and we had a great meal. We started with a few shots of Stoli and then shared several plates of food: Shuba (also called "Herring Under Fur Coat," a layered dish of pickled herring, vegetables - usually beets, carrots, and potatoes, grated hardboiled eggs, mayo...), Beef Stroganoff, Golubtsi (stuffed cabbage), Siberian pelmeni (dumplings), cheburek, blinkchiki with salmon roe, and honey cake! Everything was really good (I only wish that the blinchiki had a little cream or butter or something else in them; the crepes and roe by themselves weren't my favorite preparation). Shuba usually isn't everyone's cup of tea, but my entire family enjoyed it. The food overall was very good. The service was great. The restaurant has pretty standard banquet hall vibes, but it was comfortable. If you like Russian food, definitely check it out!

This is only regarding the restaurant, not the spa/sauna. Walking in this place I was a bit worried, we were the only customers in the restaurant and the decor is pretty outdated looking. However (and keep in mind this is having no point of reference for russian food as this is the first time i've ever tried it) i was extremely pleasantly surprised! Everything my party ordered was very good and didn't take too long to come out. The cook even came out to speak to us as we were paying to make sure we liked everything. Overall i was very happy with the experience and would definitely go back!

OUTSIDE: You can tell that they don't take care of the building. The once beautiful mural on the side of the building is now faded and has not had any brushes of strokes to revive the once vibrant colors. The parking lot has seen better days. INTERIOR: Once you enter inside, on each side of the entrance is a beautiful Russian themed murals of old folk tale's characters. You'll also see Russian themed nesting dolls and a famous chef picture visited here in 2016, Guy Fieri. The dining room looks outdated, dingy and too much wasted open space. They could use more tables and chairs. When it first opened it looked so much better. I used to come here a lot as a child and it was so nice that you could enjoy authentic Russian cuisines. Afterwards, go look around at the Russian souvenirs you might want to buy. They also offered a large selection of Russian sweets and other Russian products you could take home. Unfortunately, as of January 2026, the grocery store closed. The large collection of authentic Russian souvenirs have long been discontinued to be sold here. Now, it's just a dingy and outdated space. I fully understand that the new owner is trying his best. But, as someone that used to come here a lot, I can tell you with full certainty, there is nothing Russian about this place anymore. In the main dining room, it would do them good to add some paintings. As of 2026, the walls are bare and the place looks like they are barely surviving. CUISINE: I came here with my family to check out this place and see if anything changed or stayed the same. Overpriced food with small portions. We ordered Olivie Salad and it was $5.99 for half a cup. The salad was great and reminded me of childhood. The presentation of the salad wasn't the best from what I remember. The original owner took pride in making every dish look creative. It came in a beautiful Russian crystal bowl. Now, they serve you plain white bowl and the presentation is mediocre. PELMENI: We also ordered Pelmeni, $17.99. As someone who is from Russia, Pelmeni has always been the epicenter of Russian traditional dish. It has a very distinct texture and flavors. You could either make it the right way, like your grandmother used to make. By hand, with love. Or, you could do it the modern way and just buy frozen. Dump it into boiling water until the dough surfaces to the top. Previous owner, used the old methods. Every Pelmeni was made by hand, in house. It wasn't frozen and the taste reminded you of your grandmother's cooking. Now, they buy frozen Pelmeni and go the easy route of boiling them for five to ten minutes. The taste was ok, but you could tell that they were not made in house. We asked our waitress and she confirmed that they're store bought, frozen. The presentation was mediocre at best. The bowl had too much water in it. The water and Pelmeni had blend flavor. Hardly any seasoning was on it. I dumped all the water from my Pelmeni bowl into another bowl. The only good thing about this dish was having a good portion of sour cream to go with it. SERVICE: The service was mediocre, too. Our waitress didn't seem like she wanted to be there and rushed us to order. Which is ironic, considering that only few guests were inside. She didn't come by and asked if we wanted any drink refills. After we finished eating, another man came over and asked if we wanted dessert and we declined. He brings us our check and says, "You pay upfront."Customer service can improve here and be more guest focused. OVERALL: After visiting this place and seeing the state that it's in, I think they are on survivor mode and may very well close their doors soon. They have to revamp this place. "Eye appeal is buy appeal." Repaint the outside. Dining room, add more lights and change the flooring. The floor tiles look like from an outdated restroom. At this time, after my visit, in good faith, I cannot recommend this place.

My wife ended up getting duck. Before my food came out, they also brought out a salad. I don't know if it was part of the jager schnitzel entree or the duck... But the salad was amazing. Everything was pickled and very intense flavor. Both entrees were great and i also like the fact that they have a kid's menu that serves german food. (I was afraid the kids menu would have simple items like burger and or chicken tenders, but that's not the case here.) the lunch portions were perfectly sized.... granted its not "texas sized" but it did its job and i left satisfied. What i really like about the place is the interior decor. It looks like the owners brought back so many trinkets, souvenirs and photos from their trips to Germany and it makes it feel more authentic. The waiter appeared from the kitchen a couple of times clearly eating something and then disappeared for almost half an hour. When he finally reappeared I asked for more bread, as the kids were getting antsy. He did not verbally respond to this, but walked off and returned with a basket which he more or less tossed on the table, making an obvious effort to avoid eye contact with me. After an hour and fifteen, someone else came by and asked if we were okay. We responded that we were just waiting for our food. This person, too, disappeared without a response. At an hour and a half--kids hungry and depleted of whatever patience they had--we left. This makes a bitter end to what has otherwise been a joyful patronage to a local legend.

The plate came with sauerkraut and potato salad and the Hungarian brat had a nice little bit of spice to it. The table had a delicious mustard and horseradish as well. Despite being too full we also ordered a slice of Black Forrest cake to-go, but had to take a bite before we left. It was moist and not too sweet! (We had to! It's in the name!) The restaurant also has a store! Service was quick and friendly! Would definitely come again if in the area.

Just with a few added Texan accents in the background. This is a no nonsense diner that serves European and American-style breakfast, lunch and dinner. After a co-worker told me about the bakery, I was excited to try both the bakery and the restaurant. I ordered the German breakfast which came with biscuits (awesome, by the way), hashbrowns, sausage and two eggs. Everything was incredibly simple, yet delicious. I loved the German mustard and horseradish that was brought out with the meal as well. We definitely want to come back for lunch next time.
