    Northern Berry Crumble

Betty's vs Rustic Inn?? It's a split decision in our household. But seriously, there's no loser when you get to eat pie. Rustic in. Has a nice sized parking lot but still find it difficult to find parking during peak times. The restaurant has nice home cooked food. The onion rings and meatloaf are favorites. Be sure to save room for pie at the end of your meal. My favorites are the caramel apple and the Northern Berry crumble. A whole pie is about $25, while a slice runs about $5. You can also just stop by the front counter for just pie if you don't want to sit for a meal. It gets a little crowded up at the front though. They should figure out the traffic flow at the entrance because there's also a small gift shop that also jams up the entrance/exit.

My boyfriend and I were taking one day and I had noted that Betty's Pies up North were pretty good! And my boyfriend noted that"ohhh you NEED to try Rustic Inn it's better!" No shade to Betty's Pies but I can say I thought Rustic Inn had better pies on a recent North shore trip! We did not go into the restaurant because we were only there for pies and they have a food truck with "pie on the fly!" You can get a whole pie or slice! There are plenty of options! We tried the peanut butter, lemon angel and blueberry cream! I can confidently say they are all AMAZING! Service was quick and easy! It would be nice if they put a couple tables outside to enjoy your pie but we took ours to go and ate it on the beach. If you are traveling in this area, definitely worth the stop!!

Beautiful location and facility Fun music Enjoyed the smoked salmon appetizer plentiful plus sooooo tasty Then pie and coffee Really good coffee Hubby had strawberry rhubarb and it had a real crust which was thick and flaky I had the raspberry cream and oh my! Had a meringue crust and it all melted in my mouth Joe was our congenial server who had great timing Skip Betty's pies with the awful premade crust and come here Oh and they have local castle danger beer on tap

The location was easy to find. Small seating area but cute little cafe. There is a gift shop inside reminds me being at the crackle barrel. Fresh variety of pies. Simple menu but plenty options. They do not offer a turkey bacon or chicken sausage. As I was told be the server everything is pork. Unfortunately I am allergic to pork. Light low music in the background. Every folk here seems to enjoy the atmosphere. They take a little too long to bring the food and the bill to pay. So if you are in a time frame make sure to ask for it immediately once your food arrives.

Warm, welcoming vibe and incredibly friendly staff. We stopped in for pie and learned it's takeout-only from their food truck in the parking lot. A slice was $7, good, though not particularly memorable for the price. Still, it's a nice stop along the North Shore with plenty of regular food options that make it worth a visit.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - we asked for their recommendation and they stated that the North Shore Berry Crumb was one of the more popular and the Peach Pie was the cashier's favorite so these were the two we got. The peach had great flavor and texture but it was quite typical. The berry crumb was interesting but extremely sweet as the berries were sweetened but the crumb on top was even sweeter. Service: 4/5 - quick service but we could feel their frustration that we didn't immediately know what we wanted. Ambiance: n/a - ordered the pies to go. The indoor seating is extremely crowded and we felt a bit claustrophobic at the counter ordering pie. Value for price: 3/5 - while the pies were good, we can't justify the $6 per slice cost. We're also not sure why there's tax on some orders and not others based on our observation while there.

The place is chaos and slow going at the same time. You enter in and there are multiple signs that say Please Wait to be Seated but you don't have a clue who to even talk to or wait with because you're met immediately with the truffle station where about 3 people are there helping people purchase truffles and no real hostess to great restaurant guests. So many people in line were confused as they came in. Their pie ordering is confusing. I saw some people purchase pies up at the truffle counter but employees, pleasant as they were, said you could only by during seated dining or go out to the pie truck outside. If you come here, be prepared for a wait. It's a busy spot and it's possible seating is limited due to staff ability- at least I heard others awaiting diners say as much. There's an outside patio but the patio was not in use for eating. They said they don't serve food outside. The porch was more the waiting area to be seated for dining. Lots of seating out there and they'll come out and call your name when it's your turn to be seated, so you don't have to wait around inside or you could hit up the gift shop attached to the restaurant and peruse Knick knacks while you wait. As for the food, took a long time to get that too but i rated a bit higher because I thought it was quite flavorful. The meatloaf and walleye piccata were better than I had anticipated. The kids pizza though could have used a few fries to go along with it. The peanut butter pie was well balanced/m; actually wasn't as sweet as it looked. The north shore berry crumble was nice but too sweet for me. Overall, although the place was slow and had confusing organization, the food was nearly worth the wait.

This is one of my favorite spots on the north shore and worth the wait, which their usually is. Luckily you can walk around the gift shop while you wait. I got the hot beef, gravy on the side, delicious. My dad got the turkey sandwich that came with a salad and a slice of pie, he thought it was great. We all decided to get our pie to go which we enjoyed once we got home. They have a lot of pie options but definitely plan out a few options because they often run out of their popular flavors.

We stopped by for pie slices to go. Very impressed with the choice of pies. However, the pie slices we ordered were just average.

We had a much longer wait for pie at Betty's, and were lucky to get a parking place at all. It was mobby, and it wasn't even the weekend! There was about a 10 minute wait to order at the outdoor window, and a 15-20 wait for our slices. Most of the people ahead of us seemed to be getting pie shakes. In addition to the apple pie slice, we bought a toffee cream one. We ate it soon after our visit. It was delicious. The pale crust reminded me of shortbread, the filling light, sweet, and creamy, with what seemed to be Heath bits throughout. It was great and surprisingly not filling at all. As for the apple pie comparison, Betty's version was more cohesive a crust and easier to eat, but it was also surprisingly bland. The thicker crust at the edge was dry, too. The fillings from both bakeries were quite close, both good. From Betty's, we liked the cream pie slice much more than the apple. For classic double-crust apple, Rustic was best between the two.
