The duck curry is dense and intense with Japanese yam, a combination I've never seen before (order the curry medium spicey+). the chicken satay appetizer is double the size of what you're used to, & done to perfection. Shrimp pineapple fried rice made the perfect sweet and spicy dish. The pad se ew was done to perfection.... and we topped it all off with an Ube brulee (not exactly brulé'd but silky smooth experience all the same). I had to go to a meeting nearby and needed to hit my macros. I have a friend who lives nearby and swore up and down that Rustic Spoon is somewhere I should check out. I finally made it, and well, no surprise, I am a fan. Parking Located on the corner of Magnolia and Whitsett Ave. There is plenty of street parking. But if your feeling a bit bold, there is a closed Rite Aid across the street that has a bunch of parking. Ambiance: For starters, this there is something about the decor, very classy yet casual somewhere you can have a quiet lunch and enjoy the day. I felt at home here and at ease. The staff were great on checking up on me every now and then and made sure I was well taken of. Food: There is a lot to talk about here. The name, for all accounts did not scream Thai Food, yet, I haven't had better Thai food and the area. I stopped in for lunch and they had a such a good Lunch selection and affordable ($20) that also includes a drink. I ordered the BBQ (due to macro restrictions) paired with a small salad and rice. Level with me, BBQ chicken is something I order really to test the waters and I can honestly say, one of the better BBQ chickens I have had. Though this review doesn't do Rustic Spoon much justice, I would highly recommend swinging by. I will, I would love to try some more traditional flavors such as the different curries and soups. I've been a fan of the Toluca Lake location for quite a while, but I never made it to the Valley Village Rustic Spoon until now. This place was called Voila Boutique for as long as I can remember. The Rustic Spoon opened right before the pandemic. They survived and now this is definitely one of the best Thai spots in town. We started off with Steamed Chicken Dumplings, Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp and Jasmine Tea. The Dumplings were fine, the soup had a nice lemon grass broth, lots of mushrooms and about five full shrimp. We moved on the the Krapow with chicken, which was very tasty. Drunken Noodles with Beef was also very nice, and then we had two curries with chicken - The Yellow Curry and the Massaman Curry. Both were served in a Yellow curry sauce. The subtle difference was the cinnamon braised chicken in the Massaman curry, otherwise both dishes tasted the same and were very good. This was a delicious meal and a very pleasant experience. The service was excellent and the vibe inside is comfortable, relaxing and sleek. They don't have low sodium soy sauce, but they have plenty of good spice options which they will bring to the table upon request. There is also a large parking lot in the back, which is very convenient. As much as I like the Toluca Lake location, I think I like this spot better. The larger dining room has more space between tables, but it still maintains an intimate vibe. The menus are identical. Tasty food, great service and an enjoyable atmosphere. I'm a fan! read more

I have been here before with my spouse and love it. It is in our neighbourhood and easy to get to. Service is always friendly and kind. You're always greeted with so much respect. First, we had "tom ka gai". Then my spouse had egg rolls and green papaya salad, and then Tofu Basil. I had their delicious BBQ chicken marinated in their special sauce with white rice. Everything was so good. We sat outside on their nice little patio. We also had the pleasure of having this beautiful and gracious young woman, Ruby, attend to us. This is my FAVE Thai restaurant ever. Whenever I'm in sfv, I have to get the pad see ew. Tonight, (vday 2026) we ordered the drunken noodle to try something new. 10/10. Flavorful and fresh. The texture of the noodles were fresh. Had a lil kick. We also asked for a side of chili sauce or something spicy and they gave us a cup of the chili sauce and also a cup of something else spicy. I've passed by this place plenty of times without stopping, but recently my daughter and I decided to give it a try and we were superbly surprised!!! The atmosphere inside is calming and inviting, far more than we expected. Both the indoor and outdoor dining areas are fantastic. We were warmly welcomed upon entering, possibly by the owner, who gave us the freedom to choose our table. We picked a cozy spot by the window. For our meal, we ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and Veggie Rolls, both of which were fresh, tasty, and delicious. The Chicken Satay, wasn't quite to our taste, it felt like it was missing something that we couldn't put our finger on it. The portion size was generous though. Of course, we finished with Mango Sticky Rice (a must try). The mangoes were in season - sweet and absolutely delicious. The Thai Iced Tea was another highlight, offering a refreshingly authentic flavor I haven't found elsewhere. We will definitely be back. The Pad Thai here is great, though kinda pricey. The portions were relatively big, the noodles were cooked well, and the dish was flavorful without being overly sweet like some Pad Thais. My only complaint is the price as there are other Thai places nearby that are just as good but cheaper. Part of the higher price could be attributed to the atmosphere and service though as the staff here is very nice and the place itself is cozy and quiet enough for you to have a conversation with the people you are dining with. We had a pretty disappointing experience here overall. I ordered the chicken pad Thai, and it was honestly terrible. It tasted like boiled noodles covered in an overwhelming amount of sweet-and-sour sauce, with very little other flavor. The sauce was so overpowering that I could only take a few bites before stopping. I also ordered the tom yum soup, which was extremely salty, did not taste fresh, and was served lukewarm. The one bright spot was the veggie rolls, which were actually really good and much better than the rest of the meal. My partner ordered the drunken noodles, which were better than my dishes, but overall the meal was still a letdown. The appetizers ordered were springs rolls and fresh shrimp wraps. The spring rolls were not that great. The vegetables inside were mushy like they soaked in oil too long. The wrapped shrimp rolls were great. For my entree. Ordered the drunken noodles with vegetables. I was disappointed. They had an oven dried vegetable on top that I didn't like the taste of. One of my favorite more local Thai places in the valley! There is a parking lot which makes it really easy but also street parking nearby as well. What an amazing restaurant!!! Everything from the decor, to the food, to the service was incredible. We started with the tofu and spinach soup. It's a very simple soup but the broth was absolutely delicious. I couldn't believe how much flavor it had. For our main courses we ordered the pad see ew and the daily special of whole red snapper served with vegetables and rice. Both dishes were incredible and packed with amazing flavor. For dessert we ordered the chocolate lava cake in the mango sticky rice. Both were phenomenal. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I will 100% for sure, without a doubt, be back. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now & the boy was finally in the mood for Thai food, lucky me! We had the fried chicken dumplings, shared a small Ton Kha soup & split a Pad See Ew entree. Dumplings were ok, dumplings are dumplings. Soup was probably the best Tom Kha I've had in a long time, nice and tangy and not too sweet. Pad See Ew was also the best I've had in a long while. The beers were very cold and they have Soju in stead of gin, vodka & rum - fyi. Service was also spectacular, 3 people on the floor & doing a great job, it was fairly busy. Very cute little place, I should've checked the bathroom and I forgot. Its gorgeous inside and has a really good vibe! We ordered through their website and picked it up instore- all very easy!! They have direct parking behind the building! Played a little roulette on the Yelp dice and came up a winner. Undecided on where to eat, Yelp came through. Yelp always comes through. Found this gem near by and enjoyed my dinner. This placed opened up a few years ago near me but I tried it out for dinner with my friend and her mother recently. There is parking located in the back, accessible from Whitsett Ave and you can enter the restaurant through the back entrance. We did not have a reservation but were able to be seated immediately for Saturday night dinner. The only thing I want to specifically note is that the waitress told me they do not use peanut sauce in their cooking as someone previously had an allergic reaction in this restaurant. Given that peanut sauce and peanuts in general are a key ingredient in Thai cuisine, I think this might be why the reviews of this restaurant are so varied. Drunken noodles w/ chicken, (spice level 4), 4/5 this is what I ordered, I quite enjoyed this! I have never tried drunken noodles before but this was quite nice. I would refer to this as seasoned instead of spiced though it was 4/5 on the spice scale so if you are expecting a spicy dish, this is not it Pho Filet Mignon Noodle Soup, 4/5, my friend got this and enjoyed it! I tried this place for the first time a couple weeks ago and I decided to go back because of my great first experience. I shared a large Tom Ka soup with shrimp which was a great choice for the cold weather and even better when paired with some white rice for the broth. I really like how you can control the spice and switch it up for whatever you're in the mood for. We also enjoyed a chicken satay which comes with a peanut sauce which really brings the dish together. The staff is friendly and very attentive. I have gone around 6:30 and also around 7:30 during the week and both times I have never had to call the server over as they do well at coming to check on you. It is not too loud and a nice place for a date night or a dinner gathering with some friends. Oh and don't forget to have some Thai tea but heads up it is a huge cup of deliciousness. read more

This is our second time at Rustic Spoon Valley Village location. Both times have been amazing however our second time there for a late lunch was amazing! Our waitress was super friendly along with all staff. I ordered the Pina Colada and my fiancée had the Espresso Martini! Had lunch with my mom last Friday at the valley village location. I have been to their other location before but it was my first time here. We were welcomed with a warm smile and were told we can sit anywhere. It wasn't busy so we took a table by the window. The interiors are beautiful here. Spacious with high sealing. Loved the ambiance. The food is delicious just like the other location. Fresh, Flavorful and mouthwatering. Again I ordered the chicken spring egg rolls and finished it all by the time the rest of our food came. My mom also loved it. We also ordered a pad see ew and a green chicken curry with steams rice.
