We texted beforehand to see if they had availability for potter painting today and made a reservation. When we arrived, we were quickly greeted, and a staff member explained the process. We got to pick out a piece to paint and there were a great variety of options! Pieces in different shapes and sizes from animals to more traditional dish ware and even fun holiday options. Each piece has a price listed on it as well which was nice to know before selecting an option. We picked matching cats to paint. We had a table reserved with our name on it and got some more directions once seated about tips on painting. The staff again was super friendly and helpful! After we got the intro, we painted away. There were a variety of tools, colors and staff helped us with any questions. Once we were done, we brought our pieces to the front and paid. You get your pieces back 1 week after your visit, and we can't wait to see how ours turned out!

My family loves Under the Horizon Pottery and Art Studio (UTH). UTH offers so many things to do…read morewith your friends and family. From things like painting ceramics, pottery classes, paint along events, stain glass classes and so on. One thing I love the most is they are Christian based and community minded studio that helps the local community. The help to feed the less fortunate, they have a children bereavement group that helps children coupe with a loss, they help people with disabilities and the list goes on. They are a fabulous pottery and art studio that I would recommend to anyone looking for a place to have fun and be yourself. I have gotten to know the owner personally, she is a wonderful person. She has a passion for what she does and it shows in every aspect of her studio. She is very talented and creates beautiful ceramic pieces which are on display and for sale at the studio. All of the people that work at UTH are also wonderful and fun to work with. Alice the studio manager is always smiling and willing to help you with whatever you need. The times we've gone, it's been pretty chill and quiet with only a few other groups painting. There's light background music playing. The owner is friendly, helpful, and accommodating when making reservations or picking colors for your masterpiece. There are about 8 tables inside and one outside that you could paint at. The place setting is put out for you (palette tile, sponge, water) and you get to choose the brushes and paint colors that you'd like to use. There are shelves with various types of items you can paint (bowls, cups, pencil holders, figurines, vases, and the list goes on). There are also examples provided on the shelves to provide you with inspiration. Typically, you pick up the item within a week.

The customer service was spectacular by the owner and the people who worked there. They were all so kind and willing to help with every question we had. I made the cutest mug and it took about 2-3 weeks for pickup. I liked this place so much that I am coming back at the end of July with a few people from my book club. There was also so many items to pick from and you could also create your own pottery as well, they had classes for that. Definitely check them out via their social media or website and the prices weren't expensive. They also had classes for children and have a lot of options for groups.

There is a variety of colors to choose from and have samples to know how the paint will look when fired. Some people have already mentioned it, but I highly recommend doing multiple layers. Our mugs ended up streaky in some spots. The paint dries fairly quickly, so it wasn't too bad applying layers. There were a lot of pottery pieces to choose from. I wish there were more like basic pieces though to have a more blank canvas. The prices were reasonable for each piece! The prices were written on the bottom. The firing process took about a week. My boyfriend and I have been using our mugs almost every day and they have held up well! Paint on mine did chip on the side, but my boyfriend's mug has been completely fine.
