The food was alright for the price, but the while we were eating, the bar decided to put highly explicit music on- loudly. Songs that would usually be bleeped in a club setting were playing unedited. It was unpleasant to have to hear the words d***, ho, b**ch and most upsettingly the n-word playing loudly and repeatedly in the restaurant. Clientele were mostly white men (sports bar) and the choice to have that music play unedited by management was pretty disturbing. I will not go back there. read more

I have been to this location quite a bit, and I have a lot of good things to say about it. Typically I go there after work for the awesome happy hour deal ($11 for a pitcher of domestic beer AND an appetizer!) and leave full and happy. I've haven't tried any of the seafood on the menu, but I have had a lot of the bar style food they serve: chicken tenders, sliders, loaded tater tots, east/west wings, macaroni cheese bites, and much more. A lot of times you go to relatively inexpensive places like this, the bar food is just "meh". After all, when people are tossing back cheap pitchers, how much does the food really matter? Rusty's food however, is a cut above. Almost everything I've ordered there has tasted better than I anticipated. Their chicken tenders are some of the best I've had in the area, and I like the style of ranch they make for dipping sauce. While this might not get you a 3 star Michelin review, in my book it makes for a solid hang out spot with reasonable prices that I find myself coming back to time and time again. It definitely gets very crowded at certain times (I'm still figuring out which), so if you have a group you might want to call ahead and make sure there is room for you. read more

My husband and I love this place, the food and all the employees. We find ourselves looking for options though as it appears the owners are neglecting the facility and it makes me sad. The big screen TV has not worked since we arrived last month and the restrooms need some serious attention. New owner at Rustys. There must also be a new cook. I had their rack of ribs last week and it was over cooked and dry, no BBQ sauce. Never will order them again. Today I had my favorite Applewood Chicken sandwich. It was over cooked, dry and burnt. Such a disappointment. This used to be my favorite place because of the chicken sandwich. The staff are not as friendly and the waitresses are dressed like they are in a cold snow storm. The new owner is letting this place go. Don't know why they did not keep the cook and changed the waitress attire. I don't know if I will be going back. Update: I have been back to Rusty's twice since this review. Estero Location - New to town and came here because it was local. The service was not great, and we had several people waiting on us. We had to ask for silverware more than once and the server acted like he was being bothered to get it for us. Calamari appetizer was good but portion was small for the price. Son had Boom-Boom shrimp, it was supposed to come with 8 shrimp but it had 7, the server seemed annoyed when we asked them to correct the mistake. The 8th shrimp was brought out in a basket alone, with not much of an apology. Seemed like they were giving us a giant middle finger with that presentation. This was a meal, not appetizer and it came with nothing. Shrimp on a plate with a lettuce garnish. A side of fries was $6. The fish and chips was a small portion, and very greasy. Breaded wings were OK. Surprised again that a side of fries was $6 for the wings. With so many other dining options in the area I would suggest checking them out first. read more

One of my friends and I are waiting for my two of our friends to finish paying their bills and the 400lb security guard is having an issue for me waiting for my friends or just had an issue of his own. I can think of many. I understand they were about to close but being within the time they were still open, it's quite pathetic to start verbally forcing people out and using their body size as some sort of intimidation when very little objects can do him very well. Too bad to have that kind of negativity in such a nice environment. Sunday's are my favorite. .75 cents wings and shrimp. $11 domestic pitchers with an appetizer and all you can see football. Scotty is the best server and can manage many tables with high maintenance customers. While it's not the cleanest place (hence the four stars vs five) it's still the best place in town for drinks, food for the price. It's a relaxed and fun environment. So I ordered wings last night, the same 10 wings that were 7.50 then 11.50 which is currently posted in ALL their menus. Then the bill arrived! Those same 10 wings are now 15.90!!! The server did not mention this when we ordered but when I commented on the price hike , his response said oh it's posted on the side of the front door on a legal size,indescriminate piece of white paper. We have met friends at Rusty's in Estero over the past several years, typical bar food, nothing to get real excited about but a decent dinner. We went again tonight and were extremely disappointed in our dinners. My husband ordered the grouper sandwich, he was very disappointed when it came with four small pieces of grouper on a bun with fries. Normally a nice grouper sandwich in south Florida is a very nice piece of freshly prepared grouper. He was even more disappointed when we received our check and found the 'sandwich' was 23.95 and he was charged .25 for a small serving of tartar sauce. I had the salmon with rice and broccoli and one drink. Our total bill for the evening was 52.00 which is incredible expensive for what we were served. One of our friends ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich, which he had ordered in the past. He was very unhappy with the pork. In the past it was pounded very thin and fried, this time is was very thick and tough. He didn't eat half of the sandwich and expressed his dissatisfaction to the waitress. When she brought his bill they had given his a 15% discount on his meal. They should have comped the entire cost of the sandwich which he did not eat. Needless to say, when my husband is in the mood for a grouper sandwich we will go to one of the many good fish restaurants abundant in our area. Rusty's is a bar. read more

I can see why this is a local favorite. $1 oysters. Live music. Attentive staff this restaurant really embodies "florida living". It's a very laid back atmosphere restaurant with a seat your self/ first come first serve policy I would recommend getting there early if you're going for their daily happy hour specials. The restaurant was packed. I went on a Monday with some local relatives who are on first name basis with half the staff and I can see why they love it. Sometimes I'm skeptical of "discount" seafood but the oysters were very fresh. Oh were to begin. The price was ABSURD for such basic and boring food. I was very surprised when I realized the side of fries was $6! We had to ask multiple times for silverware, and when they brought the food they forgot half of it! And at the end we didn't even know who to leave the tip for, considering the fact that 6 different servers helped us throughout the meal. I am new to the area and asked some co-workers good places to go out at night. Some people suggested Rusty's but I was very disappointed. The bar tender completely messed up my drink. It was awful. Not to mention its super uncomfortable to be drinking around a bunch of kids. I know its near FGCU but some of the kids drinking should not have been at a bar. I went into Rusty's last night and had great service from a waitress named Hayley. She recommended a grouper sandwich and I got it fried - it was delicious! Very bad experience last night.... After sitting down, we were told that the nightly special (ribs) was not available as they burned all of them overnight. The beer we selected wasn't available because it was "still warm". No problem, we changed our beer order and selected items from the regular for dinner. More than 2 hrs later, we still hadn't received our food. We asked repeatedly and were told that "the kitchen was slammed" and the food would be out shortly. Listen, I came here on a Tuesday night to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. I ordered a Brownie Melt as every young woman should do at 12:30 am and did not receive said decadent dessert until 45 minutes later (Okay, 1:13 am but still...). The girl behind the bar, after finally catching her attention, quipped that the kitchen was "backed up" and she saw our food waiting. While this information was much appreciated and I am understanding of such troubles on a Tuesday evening in the off season, it would have been nice to have gotten a heads-up sometime after waiting for 15 minutes. The brownie itself was more cake than brownie, but the sweet, chilly sensation of ice cream pressed against my sugar deprived lips really brought it home. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. WOW, WORST SERVICE ON THE PLANET!! Went here last Friday night and it was packed, had to get a table in the back. The waiter was obviously high, he was completely out of it. Asked if they had a beer menu and he rudely said no, ok...I'll just take an ipa, he came back and said they were out, ok whatever you have. Got our beer and he didn't come back for 30 minutes to get our food order. Asked for pretzels for an app, he said ok and left, came back 20 minutes later to say they were out of that too. Ok, placed our regular order of fish and chips and grouper. Another half and hour later he said they were out of grouper...WHO SUPPLIES THESE PEOPLE?! Ok sub for mahi...finally got our food, he just placed it on the table and we never saw him again...he literally clocked out and left the building. Only had one beer, food was fine but we were all pissed at this point. After waiting around for another half and hour for our bill, we were rudely told by another waiter that we had to either order something else or cash out and leave. THAT'S WHAT WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO FOR THE PAST HOUR, WHAT A JERK! This place is run by complete idiots, wow, never never again. read more

We went on a Monday as they have $1 oysters although it was not advertised. My niece had informed me of this special. There is no hostess to sit you down so go choose your own table. The staff is very friendly. We were there for a couple hours and they definitely seemed to always be busy. They had a two person band and the were very lively. We asked the waiter for recommendations off the starter menu and we chose three before the oysters. We also ordered beverages. The appetizers came right away. The grouper bites were fresh. We had the crab balls and also very good. My sister had the alligator bites. I'm not a fan so I didn't try those. All dishes were hot, good and tasty. They were big portions too.
