Location: if you like travelling and like your highlands, islands, and scenery, this is a must. Great location, easy to find. Gorgeous. Breakfast: WOW. Loved it. Quality and Quantity -- had both. Also the girlfriend had choice of fruits and cereals -- I went for full English. Landlords: great bunch, very friendly; welcoming and talkative, but also understand that as soon as you are in you want a shower and a cup of tea. We travelled by car -- plenty of spaces. Had loads of pubs and restaurants (I like my food). Landlord recommended great places for walks and leisure for girlfriend. Great trip. Great B+B.

It's found halfway along a quiet lane, so set back from the coast road, although it only takes a couple of minutes to walk down to the beach. You'll need to leave your car in the lay-by there too, although it's possible to park in the lane to load/unload. A large double bedroom and a modern bathroom are downstairs with the kitchen/diner and lounge (open plan) upstairs. Everything is clean, well equipped and comfortable with bedding and towels provided in the very reasonable price. We hunted around for ages and could find nothing as good value as this place. There is a good quality TV/DVD player, radio and lots of extras too, like books and games. The owners are very nice and helpful too. A wonderful and tranquil place to stay.

We didn't get to sample breakfast because we only stayed one night and had an early flight home. She has a parlor downstairs where you can go to read, watch a DVD, have a nightcap (she had a little wine, and cream liqueur similar to Bailey's (that's what we had). The only drawback is there is no elevator or lift. We carried our luggage up 4 flights of stairs. The host helped my husband with our bags. I would highly recommend this place and if I ever get to Glasgow again I will stay here again!

I would be giving it a solid four stars for all of that, and possibly 5. The primary problem is the bathrooms (we've been in two separate rooms with the same issues). There is black mold and mildew on the tile grout. And paint is peeling on the wood surfaces. They need a good remodel/refurbishment. Another issue is general maintenance and repair. We were moved from one room because the tub drain plug would not withdraw. In the next room, the pocket door to the toilet kept coming off the runner or would not slide fully into the pocket. The casement latches on the windows needed repair. And the hinges on the dresser needed tightening. We would stay here again in a second. But I do hope that some money can be invested to fix the physical issues and make this a truly awesome place.

In fact, our room overlooked a hospital ward where I could see the beds, screens, pulleys and medical staff wandering around. The room itself is standard chain hotel fare - nothing to write home about. The minibar/fridge setup as mentioned in other reviews is a bit bizarre. The bathroom was pretty nice, very powerful shower. I got a special rate on the room as I was with a large group, however standard rates, for Clydebank - not value for money. Clydebank is a bit of a hole - stay in Glasgow city centre if that's where you are headed. Night time taxis from city to Clydebank will set you back 20-30 GBP, so spend the money on a nicer hotel in the city where you won't be sharing square footage with hospital patients. PS. The grounds are completely non-smoking, according to the signage around the hotel

The hotel is walking distance from the Glasgow airport; it's probably the furthest of the hotels near the airport, but the value is good and if you're able-bodied or have a car, it's a decent option. The biggest downside we encountered was that our room did not have a hair dryer. We did not try the food, having opted to use the airport shuttle into the city centre to explore the abundant food scene there.

It was.. adequate. There were 2 bath towels and one hand towel, without a single washcloth to be had. I'm not sure if washcloths are not a thing in the UK but I found it strange. The chair in the room was plastic lawn furniture. It was cheap, that's the reason we chose it. We got what we paid for.

Brambles is a very Scottish, cosy restaurant with a fireplace and lots of tartan. I liked the decor although it was a little bit too dark in the restaurant. No bother. We were greeted at the door and asked if we wanted to hang up our own coats on the rack (there's a first, most restaurants will at least take your coat for you) and then shown to our table. We were the first table in the restaurant, and then they seated another table of two right next to us. In a completely empty restaurant. So frustrating! Why do they do that? It it so awkward. Anyway. We were told the specials of the day and looked over the menu. Another waiter was then telling the table next to us the specials and couldn't remember them or read the specials board from where he was standing. I have to say, for a restaurant that obviously wants you to feel like you're eating somewhere expensive and fancy, the service really let it down. They were awkwardly formal and stilted. I had the Scottish brown crab soup to start (tomato and fennel bisque, white crab meat with lemon and cracked pepper croutons) and then grilled fillet of garlic scented sea bass for main (with west coast crab and coriander fritters, buttered spinach with chorizo and chickpea salsa). I really expected a lot from the food - after all, they say they're the finest seafood restaurant on Arran but I was really disappointed. The soup was pretty bland - no distinct taste of crab and just an "ok" soup overall. I was hoping for better from the main but again, I really wasn't very impressed with the food - the fritters were nearly burnt and the sea bass was fine but really lacked flavour. The nicest part of the meal was the side of mustard mash. We decided not to get dessert as Graeme wasn't really impressed with his food either. We just got the bill and headed home. It was pretty expensive too - I think around £80 including a bottle of wine.
