This Rutter's is a great stop for travelers like us, whether you're fueling up, grabbing food, or just passing through. We tried the fried chicken breakfast sandwich, and it was surprisingly tasty. The chicken was crispy and the bread was soft and flaky, making it a solid choice for a quick bite. It's impressive how much they pack into this spot. There's a full bar with plenty of seating, a few slot machines, and the usual gas station convenience items. It's a mix of everything--a gas station, bar, and mini casino all in one. It might feel unconventional to see a "casino" and gas station together, but somehow it works. This might be the best worst gas station stop we've ever seen. I drive uber for a living and I was on my way this morning to go to state college to start work and had to go to the restroom. I got denied the restroom because the girl just started cleaning it. She told me there was a dollar general next door. I spend a lot of money on different locations throughout central Pennsylvania! I get gas everyday not always from Rutters but 1/2 the time so that's 1000's of dollars per year between gas and food. I will not be giving my patronage anymore to any Ritter's location. I would rather go where I am respected like Sheetz or the soon to be Wawa stores. I don't blame the girl that told me because she was doing her job, who I blame is management for making her clean the men's restroom knowing that it is a truck-stop. Truckers stop there to sleep, eat, and go to the restroom. If several truckers came in at the same time to go to the restroom and they were all denied that is a lot of fuel that Rutters would be missing out on. Why would a truckers stop if they couldn't use the facilities. They had perfectly good men working there this morning that could have been cleaning the men's restroom while she was cleaning the women's restroom. read more

Horrible. Stopped on our way home from PsU to use the restroom. Ordered a drink and after standing there for 20 minutes we heard her tell someone who went up to order food it would be at least an hour. We just ordered two shakes and no one was even looking like they were doing drinks. Should have went the next exit to Sheetz. They at least know how to be organized. read more

Surprisingly large place for being in the middle of nowhere. But as another Yelper already said: The staff is friendly, the price is right, there are no other options, easy on/off from 322 and there is lots of gas to be had both from the pumps and from the Arby's (blap!). If I'm ever in the area (doubtful) no question this Tom's would be the place to stop. (Although I do miss the Tom and Jerry-esque logo the company formerly used along with the name of Tom Cat instead of Tom's.) read more

I don't know where to start, a friend had his card skimmed at the pumps. I've caught them trying to charge me more for snacks 3 times now on stuff that's clearly labeled as such with some kind of dismissal. You gotta be super carefully this place. Unfortunately the unimart isn't open 24/7 cause of Toms because they're a much superior place, with an inferior location. As the only place the bus stops long enough for us to get stuff to eat, why doesn't this rest stop have any healthy food? Every time I come here, I see folks walking around, looking for something decent to eat, then shrugging their shoulders, as if to say, "Oh well. This is the worst rest stop I have ever been to. If I could give this a negative review I would. The staff is extremely rude, and the cashier even told me and my fiancé that we are horrible people because we are from New York. When I confronted the manager about the cashier yelling at us for no reason, he started yelling at me too!! The situation was extremely weird and the staff is completely unprofessional. A clean, somewhat new looking rest stop/gas station/ convenience store. This location also has an Arby's attached to it. The staff is friendly and the prices are what you would expect from a convenience store. It's a rather large location and there are plenty of gas pumps. Overall, a good place to stop as there isn't much else around. If you're heading into State College, this is the last rest stop until you get close to town. read more

Located right off 322, this Tom's was my rest stop for two years while my wife was in nursing school. The bathrooms are usually clean and they have an Arby's right next door. Gas is always fairly priced and it was just a quick easy stop from the highway. read more
