What I can do is to tell you why we rented a truck here. There are only a few places where a regular customer (ie not a business) can rent a truck for moving. We checked rates of Enterprise, U-Haul and Penske, and Penske is least expensive due to the mileage charge. We got a truck at Penske at $25/day plus $0.10/km plus mandatory insurance. This compares to U-Haul's $20/day plus $0.49/km plus insurance. Enterprise straight up charges a flat $60/day with 100km included ($0.20/extra km) plus insurance. We needed more than 100km, so Penske won on price. We rented on Saturday morning and had no problem returning after the office had closed. Obviously, what works out cheaper for someone else depends on the distance coverage and the price of the insurance. Lastly, CAA members can get CAA discounts at Penske. Just show them your membership cards.

First they said that the truck I booked was on the US website and they don't have my truck available (the website allows you to book in Canada locations) - than the price that I booked the truck was also not right (website is wrong they claim), than I had to buy insurance with 2K deductible, the part that website offered as an option to add on and ability to decline suddenly was mandatory at the time of pick up. When I voiced my objection, suddenly Manager was able to fix my prices (as a favor), eventually I was forced to get a much larger truck with refrigerator which I didn't need, even though they gave it at no extra charge, but much harder on gas and much more difficult to maneuver around (again as another favor) that I didn't need at all. After I dropped-off the truck that night, next day I realized they charged me 24 cents per kilometer (my booking was 19 cents - they claimed it was because of it being the bigger truck that I didn't need or want) also I noticed licensing fees that the website had booked it at $2 a day, I was now charged $3 day (no explanation for that / a week later manager is still suppose to get back to me on this). Their tracking of my mileage was 10 kilometers more than what I had recorded. Finally, it took 2 hours to pick up the truck because of my trying to resolve the differences between reservation quotes and their demands ( wasting 2 hours of my tightly scheduled day) - regardless of all that reasoning, on my absence they managed to charge my CC additional 10 dollars or so which they were not suppose to. Also, they calculated 700 kilometers in advance ( which I had mentioned that my need was local and my mileage would not be more than 100K at most) plus all the rentals and fees and taxes, and with all that, as if it wasn't enough, they pre-auth my CC $400 in addition of the total of all that. I felt manipulated and lied to. it felt that this location is in the business of overcharging rather than honoring their national standards and reservations.

My personal car broke down, had to take it to the shop for repairs and I needed wheels ASAP. Found these guys online due to the good reviews. Adrian was able to accommodate me for a sedan 2018 Honda Civic. Having rented from the Big 5 rental companies in the past ( Enterprise, Budget, Hertz etc.) and being treated like a number I appreciated the personal touch these guys put in at this location. You can tell they care about their customer's satisfaction and like what they do as a small business which, I prefer to support. Planning for an apartment move, I booked a van well in advance for a Saturday morning pick-up. When I showed up at the agency, I was advised the rental had been cancelled, due to a lack of availability (!). To add insult to injury, the attendant did not seem to have a clue about customer service. Terrible service! I booked a cargo van from Bristol on two consecutive dates. The first one went…read morewithout an incident. The second time, I contacted Bristol the day prior to the pick-up to confirm the reservation. I spoke to the manager, John Clement, whose only comment was that I had to pick up the van before 10 am the next day (it was a Sunday). When I arrived in the morning, I was informed by the onsite representative that there was no record of my reservation and that there were no cargo vans available. From this I can only conclude that when I spoke to John Clement he did not even bother to check the reservation. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional! I have rented from a number of companies over the years, but never have I encountered such carelessness and ineptitude. Do yourself a favour and rent from someone else.
