My issue was not with the moving truck, the issue here is the customer service when returned on a…read moregas gauge location and the extra gas charge. When I picked up the truck the gas gauge appeared to be at half and the paperwork gas area highlighted indicated to be the same. So when I returned the truck I made sure I added what I used and the gauge was in the same location, at the half point. Unfortunately for me when I returned the truck I was changed an extra $18.37 for gas because they said it was at the 9/16 mark not the 1/2. This was so small of a discrepancy on the gauge and is so minuscule you would have thought for customer service they would have just let it go or said something to me. Nope, nothing just changed my card. They don't pay for the gas anyway, the customer does. So because of this I rate 2 stars. I have rented many U-Haul vehicles in Southwestern, Ontario and this is the first real customer service issue I have had. Maybe I have been lucky! If Susan and Michael the Customer Advocacy Agents at Stockyard's want to disappoint a customer over a fuel gauge mark discrepancy, a litre of gas and over charge me an extra $18.37 over and above they need customer service training as soon as possible. Just felt ripped off and not treaded restfully over this small gas gauge issue. So make sure you read and understand your bill before you approve payment or it will cost you! After receiving the renting confirmation email I called them, making sure I was so good to go. They told me I was all set and just to come in at least 30 min before closing on my moving day. We went first thing in the morning, and were told that they didn't have the storage unit I reserved. No explanation, no help. They said they wouldn't help because "their is nothing we can do", was their exact words. It didn't make sense considering they had other units available and it was THEIR mistake (my booking was legit and they could see it), they should have been able to somehow do something to honor our rental agreement. But true to their words, THEY DIDN'T HELP AT ALL! Basically didn't give a s**t, told us we could just pay for the next size up (65$+tax for a 1 foot difference to my booking?! WTH) And that's it, no others options, no solution. No courtesy discount on the next available size for THEIR mistake, no apologies. It was terrible, I was exhausted and baffled, got to be the worst customer service we ever had. The staff called the manager, who refused to help! The manager was actually so unprofessional and told the staff to charge us full price or just ignore us and get us out! So after one hour without trying to fix their mistake, they just completely ignored us and started serving other people with us still sitting there in shock. We are now left on moving day, due to leave the country in few days, and now with no storage to move to! How is that even possible U haul?! Absolutely shameful

They tried to double charge for the assembly even though was not completed first time and the next crew had to go to hardware store to buy bolts as the first crew stripped them all!? How the hell they broke the bolts without building the bed fully I'll never know And the guys they sent the second time damaged my bedroom floor! Now supposedly someone will come from them to fix these damages. I wish the store didn't deal with these idiots. I doubt they will send a professional. I should have saved the money and time to build my own bed. Never buying from that furniture store again, ever!

I've rented a car from this company twice now for weekend trips. The price was reasonable and the…read moreservice has been excellent. I particularly like that they have a drop box for the keys when you are done with your car. Unlike other car rental locations - there has never been a huge wait to pickup / drop off the car and these guys don't nickel and dime you or upsell at every opportunity. It's nice to deal with a family run business that's straightforward. I've recommended bristol to others looking for a car rental in the city.

Okay, many of you have probably rented moving trucks before. And you've probably sampled a few…read moredifferent companies. Probably because you were disappointed with the first one, so you tried another, were disappointed with that one, so you tried yet another. As far as I can tell, truck rental places are like child rapists: even the best one is still really, really bad. First, they don't offer one-way rentals. So you have to bring the truck back. And they charge you by the kilometer...so that's a nice scam. Second, the truck was not good. No armrest, broken interior light, the seat isn't adjustable enough to allow a reasonable position (e.g., to be able to rest my heel on the floor while using the accelerator), the bars inside are nearly impossible to pass a rope through, etc. Just a bad experience with the truck. Third, they totally ream you on the fuel charge if it's not full ($2 per liter instead of $1.25). No problem, you think, just fill it up before dropping it off. Well, when there are two tanks, and you don't know that, and nobody told you, and there is no indicator of such (like a sticker next to the driver-side tank) then you THINK you filled it up only to find out that they are going to charge you another few hundred dollars to fill the OTHER tank. Nice scam, eh? Well, I could go on and on. It was a bad experience and it was overly expensive. Would it be better with another truck rental company? I don't know. Could it have been a lot better using Penske? Yes, EASILY! Next time I'll take my chances with a different wallet rapist of a moving company.

I have used all local penske truck centers for both business and personal use and they are by far…read morethe best supplier available in Toronto. I specifically wanted to address the complaints outlined by Aaron B as they are really misleading as to the level of service you will receive. Truck rental companies can not offer one way rentals without significantly raising prices to offset all of the additional driving they will be forced to do. Otherwise all the trucks would end up at the same most popular destination depots and none would be available to local users. So no it isn't a scam. Your rental fee covers the cost of taking the truck out, your per km charge covers the normal wear experienced by any vehicle per kilometer driven, if that fee wasn't included overall fees would be higher to offset repair costs and a trip where you drove only 5 or 10 kms would be prohibitively expensive. Penske has a pretty amazing fleet, 9 of my last 10 rentals were 2014 models or newer often with very low kms. The drivers seat is as comfortable as any large trucks, they are utility vehicles not Ferraris so don't expect a luxury interior. The interior of the box is not designed for rope, the proper way to secure loads is with the use of logistic straps which Penske has available. You can save money by using rope but its not like Penske has done anything to select trucks that don't work with rope, they are using what is standard in the industry. They charge a premium for returning the trucks at less than full but that is because a member of their service team has to drive the truck out to get it fueled, not because it is a scam. This is going to sound crazy but your best indicator of fuel level is actually a gauge on the dashboard, look closely you will see it! If that indicator is not at full, then check to confirm the amount of tanks, only return it once that gauge has hit "F". At this point I realize this is going to seem like I work at Penske but I absolutely do not, I just found it really frustrating to think that Aaron B's ignorance might be turning people away from Penske, you don't want to end up using the alternatives as I agree truck rental companies overall aren't very good. Penske is the exception.
