After 9 pm head to the bar top for their special menu with offerings of rolls, skewers, ramen, and other small bites! Their fish and meats always are packed with flavor and melt in your mouth. Their food and service is excellent overall, but their brunch menu is so unique you must try it! A large parking structure across the street but we were lucky enough to get parking just around the corner. From start to finish, everything was on point. We had the bottomless mimosas. I had such a great experience at RYLA. You can really taste the quality of ingredients in every dish--it's clear a lot of care goes into the menu. The must-order is the milk bread. It's unbelievably buttery on its own, but the butter spread takes it to another level entirely. Easily one of the highlights of the meal. They do dinner service during the week and have an early service on Saturdays and Sundays (as of /2026). My friends and I have came here for breakfast on a weekend, so I had a more laid-back beach vibe to the place. Especially since we sat outside with a dog in tow. The decor looks like it's probably feels a little more upscale at night though. We got seated pretty much right away and the service here is super friendly. First time trying this place as part of DineLA, and unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. Overall, a cute vibe/atmosphere for girls' night/date night, but food-wise, could have been much better. Spicy Tuna Handroll: standard, but the seaweed tasted a little stale. Not sure if it was sitting for a bit before getting served to us or not.. Nashville Spiced Hot Chicken Karaage: great flavor, but poorly battered/fried. The chicken was a bit dry and not really crispy. 3 Cup Wild Black Cod: SO SALTY! This was the most disappointing dish of them all. Although the flavor was okay, this dish was just drenched in sauce. There was a bit of rice under the cod and sauce, but it was practically inedible since it was so salty. Not to mention, at a place like this, I would have expected the cod to be deboned, but it was not. Service was attentive in the beginning, but fell off a little toward the end of the meal. This is probably because they are quite busy during dinner service and may be understaffed sometimes. Make sure you get a reservation as seats fill up quick. I was able to get squeezed in reserving the day before, but your mileage may vary. I though the yellowtail sashimi was by far the best item we ordered. Presentation and flavor wise it hit all the right notes, a perfect dish. Other rolls were less memorable. I liked the yuzu Hokkaido roll - but I am a particularly avid yuzu lover. Others may find other offerings more appealing. I would say the fried rice is well made - the flavors are good and the technique is definitely there - but it is still just fried rice. The noodles I had were also nice, but had an obscene amount of butter. It was another similar case with the matcha tiramisu. Well made technique wise, but just a little too sweet for my taste, covering up the flavor of the matcha a little bit with sickly sweetness. If I were to make any recommendation, I would say to stick with the sushi. Overall, a fantastic restaurant, but not for those on a budget. My first visit to Ryla was the evening before Thanksgiving. Typically you may not receive great service or food for the holiday. My Mom, adult son and I went to celebrate the holiday. Salmon avocado roll: it was good but I think we were so slap happy over the other two appetizers, this was mild. To our surprise for a week night, street parking was still limited and parked in the structure. Had I known this place would have been this popular on a weekday, I would have made a reservation. The yellowtail was quality and fresh. The spicy pork and shrimp noodle and karage fried chicken came out together. Both tasted good , but since we ate them Together we couldn't tell which one of the too was on the salty side for our pallet. We ordered from the weekend brunch menu and started with a few appetizers. The Lobstah roll has a mildly funny name and also a mild flavor. But $32 for eight small pieces is not a mild price. I preferred both the crunchy chicken kaarage and the tuna poke tostada to it. This was probably the most shareable tostada I've had, and the fish was impressive. For mains, I think the tonkatsu sando is your best bet. It comes with some inventive taro chips too. Ultimately, their strength is in variety: you can have eggs Benedict if you want brunch, you can have yuzu shio ramen if you want to stick with the Japanese theme. Came through with Mom and pup to try their DineLA menu. It was the perfect SoCal weather for outdoor dining, and their location - a couple minutes' walk to the beach - made it even better! Made reservations (requested patio seating since we had my fur baby with us) to avoid a wait. We arrived a few minutes early but got seated immediately. Danny came out with water and almost immediately. Kim, our server, also presented us with the menus not too long after. We were pretty decided with what we wanted so it didn't take long before our orders were put in. LIGHTLY SEARED SALMON: Not part of the DineLA menu but I had to have it. The sear added to the taste and the fish was fresh. Great starter. LAVAZZA COFFEE: So... I'm not a coffee drinker and I should have told them to skip mine, but it was poured before I got the chance to say anything. I didn't want to waste it, so I had some. Can't say anything about it more than it's coffee. (Whoooo, it sure kept me awake all day!) JAPANESE EGG SALAD AVOCADO TOAST: I was going to slice it in smaller pieces for easy bites. Jokes on me: they came sliced already! It was creamy, savory, seasoned perfect and delicious. The toasted bread held the toppings well. Overall taste and texture was excellent. That fresh arugula served as a palate cleanser at the same time. GET THIS! SHOYU RAMEN: This was Mom's choice of main. I had a taste of the broth and thought it was on the salty side. A bit citrusy and very refreshing. I also ordered from their Dine LA menu and had their spicy tuna handroll, white sesame caesar salad, wild alaskan halibut, and Meiji soy milk pudding. Their caesar salad is one of my favorite dishes here. The white sesame flavor is a fresh take, and I love anchovies so it was an easy choice. The halibut was cooked perfectly, so tender. And the red curry coconut broth it's served with was divine! Because of my diet, I gave the soy milk pudding to my dad, but he said it was really good and finished every bite. Glad we made early reservations on a Sunday to catch a comedy show nearby because the restaurant filled up. Great moody, stylish feel inside with attentive service at the beginning of the dinner. Our group of 4 ordered - Hokkaido milk bread Maryland soft shell crab bao buns Korean style spare ribs Nashville spiced hot chicken karage Black truffle fried rice Wild Alaskan halibut The food was excellent especially the halibut which was tender and moist. The other favorites were the Korean spareribs, Nashville chicken karage and truffle rice which were very tasty. This was a fun place to dine. We were seated right away even though our party was incomplete. I blame the parking situation! A summer evening at the beach equals a parking scarcity. RYLA has a private lot but it was full to capacity when we arrived. The wait staff were friendly and efficient, and happy to answer our questions. We ordered a lot of food to share amongst 6 adults. Some memorable standouts: Hokkaido bread was a hit! Farmers Market roll was unexpectedly tasty. Watermelon salad was refreshing. The proportion was a bit off as it was more tomato than watermelon. I also think the tomatoes could have been cut into smaller pieces. Karaage was seasoned well and not spicy. Tteokbokki in vodka sauce. I don't tend to order tteokboki at a Korean resto as I'm not really fond of the sauce. Obviously, this is a fusion dish. It's more like mochi dumplings in a vodka sauce. Or, if you didn't know, you may think it's gnocchi. All in all, I think this was my favorite dish of the night. That sauce was so good! Enjoy! read more

Wow. This place has exceptional vibes and energy. I fell in love with Ryla immediately when I walked in. It has a romantic, dark, but lively feeling inside. They also participate in dine LA where you pay $55 for a set meal but there is still options with it that you can choose from. I can't remember who my server was last night but she was wonderful. She was the perfect server for my girls night. The food and cocktails are great. I suggest making a reservation here, especially on a weekend night! Arrive early as well, parking gets difficult in Hermosa specifically around the summer time. Perfect restaurant, I can't wait to come back! read more

I went during Dine LA and the set menu was super filling. I loved the Benedict egg ! it was perfectly cooked. We also ordered the whole bread as an extra because my friend highly recommended it, and it did not disappoint. The dipping sauce was amazing. First time to RYLA Hermosa Beach... Valentine's Day multi-course dinner along with wine and sake pairing experience was the best. Great ambience! Our server Jessica was very sweet, friendly and just amazing - made us feel so comfortable. What a fun evening! The chef's associate that explained the dishes was incredibly knowledgeable; and in summary, the food was delicious.
