If I can put pictures on here you'll see the trash piled up most of the time. And I have opened sewer out my front door. I work on the road so I see a lot of camp sites and this is definitely the worst I have stayed in

We asked them since they put us in this ridiculous site to not rent the other buddy site with hundreds of available spots THEY WERE RUDE RUDE RUDE and deliberately placed 2 separate rv's back to back. There is very little space at this KOA as it is let alone park a neighbor I don't know face to face. THIS KOA IS A 100% joke save yourself a lot of heart ache do not come here. We are full timers traveling all over the U.S. and this is theeeee worst worst idiotic incompetent sloppy nasty campground we've ever been to hands down. If your visiting Indianapolis pick a better campground your not missing anything here. We're leaving 5 days early. By the way they have children running the office and I warned them ahead of time this is not the site we wanted. They could have avoided this but there backwoods mentality can't comprehend

The park has shelters and multiple walking trails, which gives you options depending on how far you want to go. I noticed people taking family pictures at this park. One of the highlights was the water along the trail which adds a really pretty, calming touch to the scenery. The weather was decent temperature but a bit gloomy the day we went, and there were a lot of leaves on the trail. We didn't check the map and just kind of winged it, so parts of the trail were hard to follow because the leaves covered the path, but it wasn't an issue. Overall, we enjoyed the walk, the quiet surroundings, and the chance to bond while taking in what nature has to offer.

The park maintains several natural habitats including a pond, wetland, prairie and Buck Creek. The setting is perfect for bird watching, hiking, running, walking the dog or enjoying a sunset. The six shelters can be reserved (rented) for parties, meetings, picnics for $135 for residents of Marion County or $160 for non-residents. The naturalist center/classroom can also be reserved during certain months. There are lots of picnic tables available on first come basis. There is a bathroom facility available in the warmer months. The naturalists run special educational programs throughout the year including summer day camps for the kids, a bug festival, maple syrup tapping in late winter and hayrides in the fall. The Park will be hosting eclipse viewing on April 8. I was visiting the Master Naturalist Class, a but also took my dog on a nice walk. The park is open dawn til dusk and worth a visit. Plan on spending a couple hours. Be sure to bring your bug repellent.

This is not to say we don't have some amazing parks, however, we continue to often struggle to maintain them. Acton Park is an example. This 23-acre park is on the southeast side of Indy in the area known as Acton. The park, essentially more a simple natural setting, offers a few gentle rolling hills and a small creek. There is greenery, though it's not particularly well maintained and yet it's also fairly easy to see how this setting served from 1859-1905 as Acton Campground, a mission of the Methodist Episcopal Church. It at one point had a hotel, campground, pavilion, cottages, and man-made lake. It was part of the Chautauqua circuit and would host weekend long meetings with speakers, including William Jennings Bryan, would come. On Nov 12, 1905 a fire swept over the grounds believed to have been sparked by sparks from a passing locomotive. It destroyed the pavilion, 110 cottages and many fine trees. In 2004, Indy Parks acquired 23 acres of the camp to develop into a public park. As a relatively new park area, it's particularly dismaying to see the fairly poor condition of the park even with pretty decent signage. There are parks in Indy that are basically an afterthought (I live near one myself). Acton Park is one of them. While I do think there's been a little recent improvement here in terms of safety, this continues to be one of those parks that is poorly marked, poorly lit, and offers parking. That's never a good combination.

This site is more of a nature preserve than a park. Other than a parking lot which you access from…read moreSouthport Road, the park is primitive. There are no defined trails through the wooded area which sprawls 22 acres. Part of the park is raised, but be aware that if you hike through the wooded areas, there is a small creek running through it that has no reliable means of crossing without getting your shoes muddy. The raised part is from a dam that was part of the now defunct Acton Camp Ground. The dam was used to make a lake on the property filled by the small creek. The history of the camp ground is filled with good intent and lots of misfortune, including several fires that burned all the campground buildings. The dam was mostly removed, so the lake has disappeared, but the ground can still be quite damp. Review #673

Are you looking for fun and safe activity to do with friends or family while staying socially…read moredistanced from others? This is an awesome activity that checks all of the boxes! We visited Morgan's yesterday for the second time this summer. It's a great meeting spot for friends that live in Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Our first visit was on a Thursday and the second was on a Sunday. There was a big difference in the amount of people when going during the week versus the weekend. I would highly suggest a weekday visit if you would prefer less people. After a brief safety talk, you grab a life vest, paddle, and boat and you are off! We did kayaking on both of our visits, but saw a lot of people out on canoes and rafts. It is about a 7 mile trip and both times it took us about 3 hours doing a relaxing trip down the river with minimal paddling and a lot of floating. We packed a picnic lunch and pulled our kayaks out on a shady spot and ate lunch. This is not a technically different kayaking route. There are a few sections that are rocky, have some tiny rapids, or tree roots that you need to navigate, but all in all, it is a beginner level trip perfect for the novice and fun for all. The equipment is good, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The price is also good for a budget activity ~$30 per person! Let's talk about COVID-19 precautions: Morgan's takes this seriously! They are by reservation only and have designated checkin times. For our weekend checkin when it was busy, a man greeted us when walked up and directed us to an empty table to fill out our group's waiver. Once done, we took to a table with one staff member to checkin. All of this was outside. During the week, this was done in the building, but we were the only group. There are social distance markers on the ground, limit to 3 people per the changing room/restroom, social distance on the bus to bring you back, and all staff wore masks. Thank you for keeping us safe!
