Scott and his team were meticulous, professional and so tidy! We hired them to paint the exterioir of our 1900s farm house, and from giving us an accurate estimate, sending a color expert, scraping and sanding LOTs of layers of chipped paint to replacing some worn out wood siding, they truly do it all. He checked in daily on his team, and it was during a hot stretch, providing them water and ensuring the job was getting done as planned (it was!). They did a tremendous job and it shows - several of our friends and neighbors commented on the team's "fussiness" (as in meticulousness) and how beautiful the house looks now. The only thing, and out of his control and impacts all labor that relies on Mother Nature, was the initial timeline. With this past extra rainy spring in New England, the work started a month behind but he assured us he'd get the job done this season/before winter and he and his team delivered! I signed a contract in May 2011 with SCH Painters to paint my residence (exterior). A deposit ($2250) was provided as required per the estimate. I was quoted a start date of 4-6 weeks. As of 13 Oct 2011, the home has not been painted nor any work done to this end. I have inquired (email, voice mail) on at least eight occasions when this work would begin and my messages have been mostly ignored. I have been provided with four separate misleading/false start dates by Mr. Scott Hurd or his associate (Kim). The latest estimate from Mr. Hurd was received the week of 03 Oct 2011 when he informed me that he would begin no later than 08-09 October 2011. As of 10 Oct, the work has not been initiated and I informed SCH Painters that unless they could begin by 12 Oct I wanted a full and immediate refund of my deposit. A certified letter was also sent to their business address formally affirming this request. No refund or acknowledgment has been received as of 14 Oct 2011. Their lack of responsiveness is unprofessional and poor business etiquette. A complaint was filed with the MA state attorney general and they too were unable to solicit a response from Mr. Hurd. Likewise, a call from my attorney was never returned. I eventually contacted the local police department and they called SCH Painters to investigate the complaint and the money refunded.
