A nice small neighbourhood U-Bahn station. The choices of trains here are limited however between…read morethe Bus, Tram and Train all within meters of each other, your options are great to get around the city. Plenty of cafes and shopping options also nearby. U2 and sometimes the U8 go from here.

On U1, it is between Westfriedhof (toward Olympia-Einkaufszentrum and Rotkreuzplatz (toward Mangfallplatz). On the U7, the same stations but the terminus beyond Rotkreuzplatz is Neuperlach Zentrum. I thought the glass walls and the modern light granite floor was interesting. It is an island platform. [Review 12037 overall, 1820 of 2019.]

Definitely a lot less drunkenness going on but there was still a very visible security presence and that's always a comfort. Goetheplatz services the U3 between Poccistraße (toward Fürstenried West) and Sendlinger Tor (toward Moosach) and the U6 lines between Poccistraße (toward Klinikum Großhadern) and Sendlinger Tor (toward Garching-Forschungszentrum). At the surface level, there were stairs. I did not happen to notice escalators or elevators but I wasn't looking hard. There is a mezzanine platform with ticketing kiosks and ticket validation machines and then the lower platform level, which is an island platform between the two tracks. There was some really lovely and calming classical music playing while we waited for the train. [Review 12044 overall, 1827 of 2019.]

During Oktoberfest it did get very crowded at certain times but it was less so than I would have expected while the level of security seemed to increase substantially during Wiesn. I was really appreciative of the Google Maps feature that kept the schedules updated as the departures were very fast within just a few minutes of each other so it really helped to make sure you were getting on the correct line going in the direction you needed to go.

Two S-Bahn tracks here and two U-Bahn tracks, so it's a busy transfer point and of course the Marienplatz at the surface is a busy destination. Easy navigation with escalators, stairs and elevator between the different platform levels, the ticketing concourse and the surface. And of course, lots of entrances/exits to street level which are labeled and there's signage to help you know which is the right exit closest to the strasse you're needing. Several quick grab-and-go restaurants on the ticketing concourse. The station is served by the S1, S2, S3, S4, S6, S7 and S8 S-Bahn lines plus the U3 and U6 underground lines. I personally find the station itself very charming, the brilliant view of the different line of train tracks, the very cool looking Hackerbrücke, plus the very modern Bus station. The view on the bridge even better. For me, this is one of the sight people shouldn't miss in Munich. Most of S-bahn line will pass this place. So if you feel like it, just get off to this station and walk around a bit. There are couple restaurants inside the bus station, when you feel hungry, I suggest you to get something around before walk into the S-Bahn station. Inside the station still got few machines offer some snacks on the way though.
