I should have read the awful reviews before using Megaro's Memorial Funeral Home--but when you're…read moregrieving a loved one, especially a parent, things like Google reviews just don't cross your mind. My family had used Megaro's twice before, so I thought I could trust them. That trust was entirely misplaced. This will be the last time my family ever deals with them--and I will go out of my way to make sure no one I know, or anyone they know, ever does either. My father passed away in April. It is now August. His name is still not engraved on his headstone. He lies in an unmarked grave while Megaro's dodges calls and deflects blame. From the beginning, they showed just how disorganized and thoughtless they are. My father died out of state. I was quoted a package: airfare, pickup, loading and unloading, the works. But I ended up coming up with a faster, simpler, and less costly solution--him to be picked up with a vehicle. This saved costs and the unnecessary handling of my father's body. This is not my profession. Why was I the one solving problems they should've anticipated? Worse still, they failed to request his death certificates. One of the most basic and essential tasks--and they just didn't do it. I had to personally call the affiliate funeral home, provide hospital details, and initiate the process myself. How is that even remotely acceptable? Again, not my profession, but I did it. On the day of the burial, the Hearst is late, causing undue grief and hardship on an elderly relative. And the way they maneuvered to the gravesite resulted in us hitting traffic causing a further delay. And all of this came after I paid them, in full, by cashier's check--as they cleverly require. Once they have their money, you are helpless, and they conveniently forget about you. Which is exactly what they've done. Every time I've followed up about the headstone engraving, I'm told the same things: "We're checking," "We'll look into it," "We're short-staffed." And not once has anyone followed up. Not one return call. Not one update unless I badger them. This isn't just a case of "bad service." This is callous, incompetent, and utterly disrespectful treatment of grieving families. They prey on your pain, your trust, and your disorientation in the aftermath of a death--and then seemingly vanish after being paid. I plan to look into whatever state or industry oversight exists to file a formal complaint, because Megaro's should not be in business. Full stop. This is NOT the way bereaved families deserve to be treated by the people they have placed their trust in. Do not make the same mistake I did. Stay away from Megaro's Memorial Funeral Home.

I interviewed this Funeral Home to set up an Irrevocable Trust for my Mother to be used for future…read morefuneral expenses. Mr. Biondi started paperwork to form the trust. The amount to put in was approximately $1700.00. He then adds $3000 to this paperwork. I ask why? He says for the cremation. I inform him that I'm not paying or pre planning at this point and that Medicaid will cover the cremation expense of up to $3000.00. He said that $4700 wouldn't be enough for a direct cremation and that I would pay hundreds more with extra fees. That's all I needed to hear and I got up and left. Greedy. More than enough for a direct cremation. Shop around or you will overpay and line someone's pockets with your hard earned cash. Insane. I'm buying a niche in a cemetery with Funeral Home Services and a private viewing for the correct amount.

It was wonderful to know we'd have the entire vicinity to ourselves and our mourning guests. They answered all questions at all times of the day. They with us at all times. If we needed adjustments , they did it. The way they prepared his body for viewing. He looked like himself a few years back. A perfect color match and he looked healthier than when he passed. I can't explain it. He looked like dad. Our service ran long and they didn't rush us.
