S4C is a marvelous Welsh asscociated channel and with their storylines... The channel all uses the Welsh language is used all the time and it is a TV channel that is ideal for Welsh soaps and already they have the soap called, They have a company in Cardiff situated on Parc Ty Glas road and S4C is also situated with an area in Cardiff called Llanishen. As a well Welsh filming company they like to get out about a lot. I remember being able to watch them film once or twice because they came to a company where I was studying some courses in IT, Maths, and English again and I did a small amount of Media work as my extra pleasure of enjoyment whilst I was there. They came more than once too... So that was pretty cool because dispite them filming and recording their shows all in Welsh, since this being the very reason why I wont watch this channel on TV; it was still fascinating to be able to watch them filming and it was certainly something that became much more interesting to do at that centre I was at, I struggle to remember it's name. I was arranged to go there through the Youth Centre company. This filming company are still very active today which is good to see considering those who have to work there have to speak Welsh, a language and languages in general are something that I struggled to learn and still would. I see how it's written down on a page and ignore things like the letters vowel sounds which I was taught to learn how to say reguarly at the Dyslexia Centre. I'm not surrounded by many Welsh speaking people so I feel that makes this filming very specialised and orginal, especially as a local filiming company goes. Nowhere else in the whole wide world will have such a close access to such a wonderful filming company. S4C and the BBC make me long to want to learn Welsh all the more because I would really love to work as part of the Media team with one of these companies or at least get to do work experience with either one of them. I know you can. So keep your eyes peeled you never know they maybe filiming near you... I can't recommend that you can visit and that you should visit this filming company, because as yet I do not know, but I shall try to make some enquiries and see if they do tours around the S4C building or not. It is right next to my Dad's partly owned business, with someone else. read more

S4C is a Welsh-language television channel broadcasting more than 80 hours of programmes a week, all specifically aimed at the Welsh language community. Funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, its programmes span a variety of topics including live national events, sport, music, news, drama, entertainment, children's content, culture, rural issues, and lifestyle topics. Most of the programmes broadcast on the channel are created by outside, independent television companies - many of them also based in Cardiff. Sadly, a lot of the content on S4C's website is woefully out of date. They talk about how in 2007 the channel will receive a grant of £94.4m from DCMS - only three or so years behind, then! Flicking onto the channel itself on TV, many of the programmes also seem to be a bit stuck in the past. Apparently, the S4C Authority is currently reviewing all the channel's activities, and as part of this process they are welcoming views from individuals and organisations to help them prepare for the future - so now's the time to ask for change if you think S4C needs it! However, the consultation could well be over now, as this information was gleaned from their website, which means it could well be very, very out of date. read more
