There's a small coffee shop next door with small bites for breakfast, and a convenience store two doors down, but no other food on the premises. However, good food is within a ten minute walk, so that was no problem! This hotel was centrally located to shops, restaurants, and some local sights. However, it's in a sort of out of the way cul de sac, so some buses may have trouble getting in. Not a problem - just make arrangements together rides near the Sky Tower or at the church at the end of the block. This, like most of Auckland, is a bit hilly. Prepare to go up and down hill a lot. Good tv and good wifi were pluses. Comfortable and clean. I was a bit disturbed by the lack of a deadbolt on the door, and for some reason, there was a door to another room attached to mine, but I couldn't open it (and I heard my "neighbors" try it as week, which was unnerving.) Nice place if you're staying in Auckland for a few days.

The room is a good size! It's not huge, but it has everything you could want -- a full kitchen (oddly, missing paper towels), space to move around, a TV with some good options and a nice bathroom (stay tuned). There's even a washer and dryer! Staff is so friendly -- they were really my first introduction to New Zealand, and I was really pleased. Now, some words of caution: * This hotel is on a hill. Auckland itself is full of hills. Unless you're taking a taxi, Uber or driving, you're going to have to walk uphill from the bus stop. It's rather steep. * Housekeeping is interesting. They made my bed and emptied the trash bin, but that's it. No towel service. * The bathtub in my room was rather gross, with pink mold around the caulking. A bit of bleach would fix that up. It's a bad blemish on an otherwise stellar stay! * Wifi is horrendous. I don't know if this is a NZ thing or unique to this property, but I'm glad my phone got a decent LTE signal here so I could use it. If you prepare with these things in mind, your stay will be a nice one. I'd come back (but I'd also probably go buy some bleach and paper towels).

I was here in the summer (February 2025) and the air conditioning was out in the entire building. And not just "we'll have it up and running in a jiff". They had emailed me a month earlier to warn me about it. It seems like no-air-conditioning is part of their long-term expectations, and it is NOT comfortable. Way less swanky hotel chains would find it absolutely shameful to resign themselves to a fate like this. I would only consider staying here in cooler months.

Our room was nice enough and we definitely felt like we were in a hotel which is always a good sign. The ancient 12 inch tv was deeply uncool though. The views are amazing and just being by the sea makes you feel more relaxed. One problem we did have however was that the "heated pool" was frickin freezing. This was before our Indian summer and that pool absolutely needed to be heated so just as well the spa was. We used the gym too which is spacious and well equipped and one of the best things about hotel gyms is the folk - people sure do behave funny in them. Overall we had a good time but the main reason for that was Takapuna itself, not so much the hotel. I grew up thinking the Shore was a whole different city and in literal terms back then it was. We then went down to Rotorua and then upon returning to Auckland, we got upgraded to an executive suite! Very convenient place to stay, lots of places to walk to. Rooms were nice and there was even a hotel gym (even tho I did not make use of it this time around lol). Both rooms we had were nice. The executive suite was of course larger but both were a nice size for our family of 3. Both rooms had a washer and drier which was awesome so you don't have to pack as much clothes for your trip. There was even a pack of detergent for 1 load of clothes. Staff was very friendly and even held our bags day we checked out since our flight was so late at night. They were also able to arrange for a shuttle service to and from the airport. You pay the shuttle driver (it was $45 for 3 of us today). Prices for the hotel were pretty good too, we would definitely stay here again if we were in the Auckland area!

The pool isn't as big as pictures make it out to be and is directly in front of the Breakfast room but it is nicely elevated above the car park and well maintained. They also offer a small gym and sauna although you may have to ask directions (they're downstairs from the pool area). The Premium Spa Studio I book was spotless and well priced. Parklane Inn is a nice place for a clean and quiet holiday or an escape from Auckland City, without breaking the bank .

The only thing you really need to know about this place is that it's all about location-location-location. It's easy to get to by car, it's a few minutes walk from the perfect golden horseshoe that is Takapuna Beach, and there's a multitude of bars and restaurants just ten minutes walk down the road. The place itself is a little tired and grey, but the rooms are adequately sized, clean and for the location very reasonably priced. It's a nice weekend getaway for couples - on those sunny days you can't really go wrong - so the missus and I have come here more than once. There's only one bit of properly negative feedback I have - some of the walls aren't exactly sound-proof - I'll let you reach your own conclusions there...

Breakfast: Great options/variety/food quality as well as friendly service being provided. Dinner: Onemata was actually my favorite breakfast and dinner venue during my stay. In fact, I had to go back for their fried rice again (I bet even uncle Roger would give a thumbs-up, lol). Gym/Swimming Pool: They were rarely busy, and I did not see anyone else at the pool every time I went, which was great! This hotel definitely made it to my favorite Park Hyatt list, and cannot wait to return!
