I came here for Restaurant Week with my husband, just to try somewhere new. I'm not sure if the dishes that we had are on the normal menu or not. The interior has a bit of a dated look to it - not exactly stylish, sort of a generic restaurant interior that maybe would've been more trendy ten years ago. Service was friendly and attentive, on the plus side.
We started with two appetizers - one with small, Israeli couscous-sized pasta with various fish (mussels, prawns, etc), and one with salmon, potatoes, and mixed vegetables in a soy-based sauce. Presentation was beautiful on both, but they both left something to be desired. I was so excited about the fish/pasta dish, but it was a bit flat to me, just missing any flavor to make it jump. Also it wasn't served hot enough. The salmon and vegetables were slightly better, but still just a bit average, not flavorful enough.
The entrees were better, because they were basically just simple meats. My husband's steak was cooked rare, just as he requested, and I must admit it was very well-cooked and was tasty with the creamy dauphinoise potatoes. My tuna was also rather good, with rocket and pomegranate seeds. I think the rocket needed some kind of dressing, it's too bitter on its own, but the fish was well-cooked and flaky. The portions weren't enormous, so we were both hungry enough to split a cheesecake with vanilla ice cream - this was a simple dessert, nothing to make it stand out, and I thought it was a bit too cheesy tasting for my palate, though it was very nice in terms of texture.
We both agreed that it wasn't really special enough to merit a return visit. The food is pretty average, but if you get something simple, I'd say it's more likely to be good. Complex flavors are not their strong point, so much as we well-cooked cuts of meat. read more
