Unfortunately we didn't have time to stay and dine in, but we had the brilliant idea to order takeout and bring it on the ferry ride home for a nice dinner! It's located in central Sidney and not far from the ferry landing. The staff were able to get us out order on time and we didn't skip a beat in making the lineup for our ferry home. We had the Phad See Iew noodles, Kow Phad Goong prawn fried rice, and the Peeg Gai Tod marinated chicken wings. Everything was great and the quality stayed throughout our ferry ride! The smell of the food was making people around us on the ferry jealous! :) The restaurant was able to provide us a couple of extra containers to use as plates and some cutlery as well. Not authentic Thai food. Meant to trick the western people into thinking it's authentic. The hostess was nasty and very dismissive. The waiter didn't know much, was slow, and never came around to the table. The food finally arrived and it was very cheap with the seafood as in, there was barely any. I can't say they are wow. We ordered 6 items to share and some were very tasty and some were pretty meh. We ordered: spring rolls (4 pieces), Phad Thai Gai (chicken), Moo Gratiem (ginger pork), Pla la Prig (sweet and sour snapper), Praram Long Song (beef), and rice. -The springrolls were a pretty good size. -The phad thai was meh. I found it a bit too salty. It was very clumpy and the noodle basically stuck together too much. Also they forgot one of the ingredients in the Phad Thai which was peanuts. (please see photos) -The Pla la Prig was the most disappointing. The fish was not crispy but more like it was soaked in the sweet and sour sauce. Also you can taste/ tell that they used frozen fish. -Praram Long Song was probably my favorite dish out of everything. It was the most flavorful dish out of them all. I do like the peanut sauce. The only draw back is that when they stir fried the vegetables, the veggies produced a lot of liquid which diluted the flavor. This tells me that their wok was not on super high heat resulting in the veggies to release a large amount of water. If the the water was a sauce than they did not use enough cornstarch to thicken the sauce which is not the case. -The Moo Gratiem (ginger pork) was ok or I should say decent. The sauce was the right thickness. The pork was spiced with good amount of pepper. I can't be too harsh on the rating because this restaurant is located in Sidney (small town). If this restaurant was in Vancouver, it would not be this popular. If this restaurant was in Vancouver BC, it would probably be a 1 to 2 star restaurant. I also they don't have Thai Milk tea at this restaurant which is the first Thai place that I have been to that doesn't have this. Their drink list was extensive but they don't offer any Thai drinks. We also noticed the restaurant was very short staffed. There were 4 servers managing the tables but they would constantly bring our food to the wrong table. Well this happened 3 times. Also after they took our order, they didn't take our menu books away. Which I thought was strange or they were too lazy or didn't care. All 4 menus were left on our table even when our food started coming. Also when we sat down, they only bought out 3 waters. It was only when she bought out the plates that I reminded her she didn't give me a water. Plus again, when she bought out the plates she only bought out 3. Seems like a very disorganized restaurant. Or one of us was invisible. But we are all full grown adults and we were very visible in my mind. I think service and food quality will need improvement. Especially service. Also good thing the missing ingredient in the dish wasn't a major item or else I would have said something. read more

The soup was hot, good flavour but the chicken had just been added. It was a bit overcooked and bland. It seems the chicken skewers are pre-made or bought as is and spices added. Went in with family for dinner and we had a great server who gave us a couple recommendations that were amazing! Our server was also very nice and everything was fast and delicious! The best dish which she recommended was the red fish oh man was it delicious!! The fish was fried but the veggies were crisp and the sauce was delicious too but the fish did not get soggy! Then we got the Tom yum soup one chicken and one shrimp and the shrimp was much better the chicken was very bland unfortunately! Then had an order of the spring rolls, which are super fresh full of veggies and chicken and an order of green curry that was also very good! Went here for a business lunch, and the place was empty which worked for us. What annoyed me though, is how we were basically hustled out of there when we done eating, from an empty restaurant. The food came out fast, but the cashew chicken was fairly bland. No heat at all in the dish. If the client picked here again I would go, otherwise it's a pass for me. read more

Couldn't do a Yelp review there since they provided no wifi. Parking: This place is on the edge of Sydney downtown. But it wasn't crowded so parking is easy. And it is all street parking. No payment required, only timed. First of all, place itself. Clean and organized but little clustered together. It's a place that cannot accommodate big parties. So 4 would be the max! Two is most common. The severs were all females who all dressed in plain black and blue jean. Guess that was sort of unique to notice. And their service were superb! Came by multiple times to make sure if I needed anything else. Last: The food. I got my usual pad Thai. This is a very good and completely authentic Thai restaurant. We firstly sat outside, but as the sun set, it became quite cold. So, we moved inside. It's a nice room, the service was friendly and efficient and the menu is extensive. The drinks list was very good, but we came because we were hungry. The food is exceptional and is the equal of anything I have eaten in Thailand. We're only in Sidney for two days before heading north, but when we return, we will definitely eat here again. read more

Thus was a pleasant superuser to find right off the boat arriving in sidney. Parking was relatively easy to find in the morning on the street but with the reservations going out on the takes by noon I'm sure it could become a challenge. They have pleanty of out for seating as well. The whole down town area has free WiFi from the city also. The service here was amazing. From the start, the male waiter (I should've gotten his name!) was extremely classy. (It was a bit unexpected, as his character seemed more like it belonged in a fine dining restaurant.) but anyway, he was great throughout. I got the prawn phad Thai, which was delicious for the noodles and everything else, but something tasted off with the prawns and I couldn't finish them. I asked the waiter about them, who assured me they were fresh and from Thailand, so perhaps that was why they had a different taste to them. Regardless, he promptly changed my bill from prawn phad Thai to veggie phad Thai, about $3 cheaper. Also asked for some hot sauce expecting some sriracha but they came out with a tray of three different sauces - sriracha-like, Chili powder, Chili oil. Have never been to a restaurant that gives a SELECTION of Chili sauce - fantastic! 4.5 stars for the service. Probably one of the most popular restaurants in town. It was a late Sunday night, and this place was absolutely packed with long lines outside. But the wait was absolutely worth it. Super friendly staff. Everyone greeted us with a smile on their face. We ordered the coconut curry soup, panang curry with rice, and chicken pad thai. The food took a while, because the place was super crowded. But the food was out-of-this-world amazing. I really enjoyed the soup; it was very creamy and flavorful paired with tangy lemongrass. Probably one of the best appetizers ever, and a great opener for the entrees. Both the panang curry and pad thai were outstanding. The noodles were very delicious, and the curry was very rich. Who would have known that a small island town like Sidney would be home to a terrific little Thai restaurant that produces authentic, no frills Thai food at really reasonable prices. I stopped by Sabhai en route to dropping off my g/f at the ferry terminal and was greeted by a short lunch menu priced almost entirely at $8 a dish. Service was quick, attentive and thoughtful (they provided us 2 spoons for the single serving soup we got knowing that we would likely share the soup). The green chicken curry was rich with bamboo shoots and coconut milk and the included spring rolls were hot and fresh. My pad thai was not oversauced and not overcooked - the noodles were just right and the sauce was obviously made with real ingredients and not the ketchup you sometimes get when ordering from cheaper thai places. The chicken in the pad thai and the curry was the only thing that didn't meet my expectations - it tasted like it was either steamed or poached rather than marinated in advanced or even seasoned. All in all, I'm thrilled to find a very good Thai place nearby. I'm looking forward to trying dinner there soon. read more

Service: Good - polite staff who tried their best to be attentive but were overworked and were not able to be present when we needed them Strange enough, all the servers were Caucasian but don't let that dissuade you from eating at this Thai restaurant. Food: Good - I ordered the chicken pad thai. The sauce was a little heavy for me; too sweet and salty. Noodles and chicken were decent. Solid Thai food, nothing spectacular or surprising. Atmosphere is nice and service is good. Vegetarians, beware that they don't understand what the terms "vegetarian" and "vegan" mean. When ordering something vegetarian, you have to specify no fish sauce, no oyster sauce, etc., even when ordering something off the vegetarian section -- this ends up limiting their "vegetarian" offerings a bit. They will try to characterize this as "vegan" instead of "vegetarian," which I find obnoxious because you know, words have meanings. read more

We enjoyed a recent weeknight dinner Sabhai Thai. It's an unassuming space, and was quite full on our visit. The staff was all uniformly friendly and helpful. Great menu selections. Only one local beer on tap (Lighthouse Lager), but it was delicious. Fried spring rolls were OK. Papaya salad was very good -- fresh and perfectly seasoned. I've eaten here several times with large groups and small and they always have quick and attentive service. The menu satisfies pretty much all the typical Thai elements. Thai place in this quiet sleepy town is a Plus. Offering real vegetarian options is an extra Plus. Offering comfortable outside and inside seating is the 3rd plus. I was a bit surprise that a Thai place had no Asian face in site.. but with that aside the staff was very efficient. Not the friendliest but not rude. Took our order, brought our food and brought our check. Can't ask for more than that I guess. Food was average. Meat was a bit tough ( both chicken and pork) but my parents Veg.
