This place is DELICIOUS. Definitely a secret gem of the local neighbourhood. We got a 1kg family platter that easily fed our huge family of 10. The chicken tinga in particular was the winner. In addition, the endless salsa options blew my mind. I sampled four and all were flavourful, and yet so different. The mango coconut milk salsa was a unique winner for me, so definitely give them all a try. Lastly, service. Can't be beat! The lady who helped me (both on the phone and in person) was great at explaining options and the family meal. She also offered lots of samples, and was extremely kind. Sabores is probably one of my most favorite Mexican food places in Calgary. There is something about the small and welcoming atmosphere they have in the Market on Macleod. Their food feels like home and tastes very authentic, like how mom would have cooked it, it was full of love and care. We ordered their mole enchiladas and enchiladas poblanas and both tasted great! They give you huge enchiladas with large helping of rice, chips, and refried beans on the side. Typing this all up is making me hungry! They also sell Mexican pop if you are interested in trying some. We tried the lime flavour and it was extremely sweet, not to my taste, but I'm sure people who have a sweet tooth will like it. I would definitely recommend Sabores for anyone that loves or wants to try out some Mexican food. Next time we come I will definitely try their tacos and burritos! read more

This place is awesome!! I looooooove Mexican food and this food is so fresh and delicious. It's located in the farmers market, so you know they are using high quality and local ingredients! I got the assorted tacos, which comes with 4 and has different meats in each one. One was beef, one was pork, one was chicken, and one was chorizo. The chorizo one was delicious and my favourite! I also got the refried beans which comes with some cheese on top and are so yummy with some tortilla chips. The lady working there gave me the tortilla chips for free as well as some fresh salsas to try. She was absolutely amazing and friendly, as well as the rest of the staff. All of that along with some Mexican mango soda, and you have a delicious authentically Mexican lunch :) read more

I believe we bought some Salsa from the Homestead Market in Airdrie. It was the "Red Salsa". It was unfortunately awful. Tasted so smoky almost like a pasta sauce and certainly not like any salsa I have ever tasted and I have had a lot of salsa in many different local places and during travels. If you're a taco lover then this place is a MUST. Taco Carnitas...5 stars. Simply the best shredded pork taco in town (and in most places)!!! LOADS of flavor from just the pork...you can taste the beautiful pork fat that helped tenderize the meat. The meat is not overly shredded, either...there are still small chunks of meat that add to the tenderness and taste. The pico de gallo is icing on the cake! read more

The good news first. The service is excellent! The lady taking the order is very helpful and friendly. The guy doing the food prep (when he comes out) always has a smile on his face. I assume they own the establishment and love their customers and it shows. I almost feel bad for writing this next part... Now the bad news. Is there even ONE good Mexican place in Calgary??? I read some "good" reviews about this place and once again i am disappointed. I used to live in California and did business in Texas and they have so many great Mexican restaurants there. No wonder they're all so fat (especially Texas...hohhhly!). But back to Sabores... For a place which means flavors (sabores), the Tortilla soup I ordered was almost completely devoid of it. It is not hard to make a good soup for crying out loud. It's all in the stock. This tasted like a watered down version of the stock that comes in a box. The tacos I ordered were just so plain-o plain-o. Again, not much flavor, Sad... The salsas tasted like store bought at best. I gave them 2 stars because the lady was so nice, BUT I don't think I will be coming back here again. Next... (Hope springs eternal eh?). read more

Tried the tacos. I had one beef, one chicken and one carne asada. They were missing the flavour. Very dry and really just missing parts. The flavour just wasn't there. They were extremely expensive too as they were $4 per. Not worth it at all. I would not really recommend this place. read more

When the Market on McLeod closed, Sabores had to find a new home. Cedarbrae was the lucky community to benefit as they moved into a nondescript strip mall. I had eaten at their previous place and greatly enjoyed their various salsas there. My favourite was the Morita -Spicy, smoky and addictive. Known for thier breakfast eggs, bandera, huevos rancheros, they have burritos, quesadillas and tamales. but where they really shine- thief soft tacos. Chicken Tinga, Carnitas, Lengua (beef tongue),Pastor, Chorizo are all excellent Here's a secret- the best are served on weekends. the Buche, Surtido and Cueritos are unique and amazing. My all time favourites are the lengua and surtido. A must try. Yes, they are unusual cuts, but they are delicious. It's mostly texture and this culture has been doing nose to tail way before it became popular with the hipsters. Wish l live in Cedarbrae... l would be there everyday. One of the best kept secrets is you can buy the meat by the pound and it comes with soft taco shells and all the fixings so you can have a taco party with your family. If you are anywhere near Anderson, you must stop in! Especially if you love Mexican food. It's a small place but the service is friendly and accommodating and their free salsa bar is to die for. read more

I love their nachos and tamales, they taste just like my grandmas tamales. Pretty good. They could make them a bit bigger but hey, I wont complain about that, it's probably a good thing! :) The owner is a very nice guy, pretty good service! Prices are good too!!! read more

Sabores in the farmers market..........access to fresh ingredients means only great things.......Asada tacos are done just right.........Molé anything is delicious........fresh inhouse made tortilla chips.......guacamole mmmmmm......and a huge variety of salsas to choose from........never a long wait.........vegetarian tacos are the best in the city......no skimping here for non meat eating types.........oh and did I mention they use real mexican cheese mmmmmmmmmm.........no cutting corners at this place !!!!! read more

My husband and I are regulars at Sabores and go almost every weekend to pick up our salsas for the week and sometimes some lunch. Adrien, the owner, switches to French when he sees us coming. Not only is he trilingual, but he knows how to run a business and treat his customers like they matter. The food is delicious. It makes me shake my head when I read the other reviewers who compare the Mexican food in Calgary to that down south. People, when was the last time you picked a fresh avocado in Calgary?
