Had a great burger and visit with a college friend from the wayback. Food was a total five but there were some jerks with an aggressive dog on the patio that seemed to live there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio is nice, great tables and the servers paid close attention to what we may want/need in the food realm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend got a Greek salad and really enjoyed it. I got a burger with BBQ sauce that was messy as all get out and so worth it. Got the dipping fries and willing to say I was really surprised with how tasty they were. They are unique too so maybe made in house. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The jerks with two dogs, one was really aggressive trying to attack someone else's dog that was totally chill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That definitely means a deduction even though there were rules posted, it didn't seem the staff was going to bother and I get that it is pretty awkward. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seems like the staff would have to hear the ruckus cause the dogs were by the entrance to the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The other folks took their dog back to the car. It was the sort of outward aggression that would make me wary if they are regulars. We had already ordered and gotten our food so we simply kept a watchful eye out.

We stopped by to see if we could get a spot on the patio. Someone told me to just go look and if there was no tables to come back to be put in the waitlist. We found a table, but then another person told us they had a waitlist, but then let us sit there. We waited awhile before anyone came to our table. Once we had a server, things went well. I think they need a better way to handle the wait list. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our food was excellent and the patio was clean and lively![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone here works hard and works as a team. We will definitely return.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This was such a cute spot with amazing food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were really surprised how good the Brussel sprouts were. That Korean BBQ sauce is to die for. Our service was great and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the bar in general is a cool vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everyone like their burgers, they were the smash burger patties, super thin and some crispy edges. We don't live in town but if we did we'd for sure be regulars here.

Food was delicious, bar was inviting, felt like a small town bar in a big city. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the ambiance, and the server was super nice and attentive![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food tasted heavenly and so glad we stumbled on this hidden gem. We will be back!

The Basic Burger with Bacon, Fries

We at the Sacred Cow Tavern for the first time yesterday after I hearing/reading so many rave reviews about their burgers so wanted to give it a try, let me tell you...it did not disappoint!!! It was delicious! My husband and I both devoured our burgers! Like, absolutely nothing to complain about with our meals! I had "That Basic Burger" but added bacon, and had fries with mine which had great seasoning on them, he had the "Poutine Burger" (with no mushrooms or onions) and had mac & cheese which was super creamy and good. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super awesome and helpful the beers and menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Tavern itself is a chill vibe. Totally love it! It's our kind of place[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We will definitely be back!

Whiskey mule and an exile beer. Not everyone can make a great mule. This one was right on point.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The moment I walked in I absolutely love the decor and that whole FNF, for some of you that may not know stands for fun, not fancy, ambience. It is by far my favorite vibe when dining at restaurants. The eclectic vibe just sets the best moods to enhance your experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Start off with a whiskey, mule and exile. The boyfriend had the barbecue burger and I had a Floyd Pepper burger with thousand island dressing, pickles, sautéed onions , lettuce, and cheese. Their burger patties were similar to smash burgers. You can either get a one patty or two patty burgers and then a side, I chose their dipper fries with a side of their homemade ranch. I am a connoisseur of ranch and let me tell you this was one to rave about. The dipper fries and the ranch, so good! I absolutely fell in love with their burgers, and I would love to go back and try their other dishes they had so many items on their menu that sounded yummy . Everything looked amazing. It was so ha[[HIGHLIGHT]]rd to decide. The staff was friendly. The service was prompt and it was [[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]clean and fun. I will definitely be back to enjoy the ambience and try out other entrées. Visited on May 3 2025

Spinach artichoke dip! Extra pita chips cost extra, but worth it!

This cute little place is tucked behind NewBo in an unassuming neighborhood. I met a friend for lunch on a weekday and the place filled up quickly, but the servers were friendly and the food came out fast. The spin dip is delicious; warm and gooey with hot pita chips and pretzels for dipping. I got the fish and chips; the fish was big pieces, perfectly salted, and cooked well. Lots of yummy fries came with the order and the little dish of homemade pickles was amazing! My friend got the BLT and chips and said she'd order it again. What a neat little place! Look for the upside down lamps hanging from the ceiling.

I had the GYRO SANDWICH and my wife had the GYRO CAESAR and both were great. Portions were good size. Fries were like a curly fry but thicker. Service was prompt and friendly. We were there at happy hour so the noise level kept getting louder and louder. So I recommend going before happy hour if you don't plan on drinking. All in all it's a do again.

Poutine Burger

Me and my girlfriend went here and had an absolutely amazing experience, I ordered the poutine burger and she had the gyro sandwich and both were absolutely wonderful. Our favorite part of the meal were the sidewinder fries which were season with a Cajun seasoning. We showed up, accidentally, for happy meals hour (everyday 3-6) and got our Helles beer and blueberry cider two for one! The second drink came in a small bucket with ice which was so fun! Would recommend to anyone and everyone who enjoys some good fries and burgers.

The poutine burger was a nice change to everyone else's "normal burgers".

Even with everyone standing around the doorway (there is not much in the way of a waiting area), I was spotted right away and they took my name and said it would be a 30-40 minute wait. Turns out it was only about 20 minutes and we were seated in a comfy booth. The servers were super efficient given how busy it was. We ordered the cheese curds and they were nice and hot. I especially liked them because I prefer breading over beer battered. I ordered the F-3 with sweet potato fries and marshmallow. The sweet potato fries were a little soft/soggy even though they looked burnt, and the burger was a little more red than pink, but that's just a personal preference. It was still a solid burger. My husband ordered the F-3 Both, which looked delicious, and the cheese and jalapeno macaroni salad is always a win. My son ordered the F-4 with FF. He's loves a good burger, and wanted to eat it all, but the portion was large enough that he just couldn't. It was loud and energetic, and we had to talk a little louder, but overall it was a nice dinner out with good food!

So the staff is attentive and pleasant. I had a craft root beer (Barn Town Brewery from West Des Moines), that was really good as root beers go. We had appetizer Nachos, which were on Taco flavored Doritos. Nachos were solid but a little light on the beef and cheese sauce for my taste. The Soup, Salad and Breadstick was good and a perfect size for a smaller appetite. My friend had a Midwest BBQ Smash Burger without the bun, he would order it again. I had the Hangover Smash and it was a great bacon cheeseburger - add peanut butter (sounds weird but it was great), an egg, some bacon and smashed tater tots and life is good, with or without the hangover. The Irish decor is a nice touch as this was an Irish pub once upon a time. We enjoyed our meal and we will return, I loved the smash burgers.

Our server greeted us as soon as we walked in and was friendly enough. The food left MUCH to be desired. We ordered a bowl of wild rice soup with a side of the beer battered fries, the Italian sandwich with fries and the fish and chips. Instead of a bowl, a cup came out, which isn't a huge deal and is an easy fix. The soup was extra thick and wasn't heated all the way through. Almost cold in the middle. The Italian sandwich was ok, it contained all of the ingredients listed on the menu, and it was on bread about the size of a hot dog bun. The fish and chips, for $19, was probably the most disappointing. The fish was cooked well and tasted good, but both pieces together was about the same size as one of Gorton's battered fish filets. Given that there were only 3 occupied tables the whole time we were there, I expected more from the kitchen, especially given the price. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 for the server doing her job, and the fries were good. If I go back, it'll be for drinks, definitely not the sub-mediocre food. Note: The photo- Split, so it's on a smaller plate. Notice the size of the piece of fish. This was the size of both pieces. I wish I could say it was an oversized fork.
