When we arrived in Mexico. We checked in at the shop to let them know we were there and looking forward to coming in in a few days to get our tattoos done. We emailed the shop the day before to ask a question and was told at that time that our appointment was canceled because a larger piece came in that was worth more money. No communication had been initiated by the shop to let us know and our day would have been wasted by going there.

There are a handful of studios in Melbourne that slot into the upper echelon of work, apparently Third Eye is in the ball park of Tattoo Magic and Chapel Tattoo. They encourage walk ins at Third Eye and this, these days, is a rarity. Their rates are highish and they do charge for drawing of custom work, but just go in and check out the quality and you'll see why it's a bit pricey. They have great gender balance here so there's none of that macho attitude you'll get at the biker shops. Plus, girls tend to have a bit of a lighter touch with the needle, so it doesn't hurt so bad. The shop is immaculate and the folk are super friendly. It's the kind of place you really want if you're a newbie to the world of tatt's. It's the kind of place you'd take your grandma.

In my never-ending quest for more ink, I've offered my skin to a couple of emerging tattooists recently, and I've just heard one of these good folk has scored an apprenticeship at Advanced Art. The quality of this bloke's work is super, given that he's only starting out, and he tells me the quality here is of a high standard. There's often a clutch of motor bikes parked outside Advanced Art, which for the uninitiated can be a little off putting. Inside though, these folk are friendly and professional and the joint has an uber-clean feel to it, which is obviously important these days. If you go there for a look, make sure you check out the ancient TAB signage on the adjacent facade - you don't get colour combos like that any more.

The toppings were undercooked on the other 2 pizzas. 0/4 pizzas were cooked to an acceptable level. To top it all off, it was delivered 1hr 20mins late, even after we called at half an hour late and they said it was on its way.
