We tentatively scheduled a time but the lady asked me to call back in a few days to let her know we still needed the service (as what we had was a new swarm, not an established hive). It's a family operated business and they really know there stuff they did not even where bee suits bees where all over and they where just using there bare hands to put the bees inside a bee boxes. Bees where in the eves of my home so they had to open up the roof and get access to the hive that was there for over a year. I knew I would like Otto and his son, also named Otto, when they actually - drum roll! -- answered the phone! It's hard enough to get anyone's attention when you have a pressing problem, much more so on a Saturday. They picked up quickly, said their schedule was open that morning and then came right over, arriving on time as promised. We had two swarms -- one was getting nicely entrenched right in the middle of a high traffic area; one up a small cliff in a bush. We did not see the second one when we called and they were kind enough to relocate it at no additional charge. Gentle with the bees. No suits. Very informative as to what they were doing. Answered all my questions. Professionals from start to finish. And, I felt the price was very fair, especially for two guys on a Saturday. They coaxed the first swarm, queen and all into a bee box; they then caught the queen from the second swarm as they coaxed them into the box as well -- both swarms came from a well established hive on our property that we do not want to get rid of so they played well together. The second queen Otto said they would keep to help other colonies with aging queens or to help develop new hives. We got to look at the queen closeup in the little container they put it in. I had bees coming and going inside a wall that goes around the front of our house. Bees are essential for plants to thrive, and I had heard the bee population has diminished a great deal. With this in mind, I wanted to re-home the bees, and Otto and his dad were a dream come true! I called around, and they not only did the most humane removal, but they charged half the price. They had to open the wall, they came out a total of four times, got all the honeycombs out, and re-homed 60,000 bees in my wall! They are fixing the wall tomorrow and guarantee the bees won't come back. If the bees are sick they take care of them, and they don't re-home them again. It was great to work with these guys. A honeybee hive moved into an open / empty wine barrel I have in my back yard. It would have been easy enough to just seal it up, but that would have killed the bees, which we didn't want to do. I called and they were at my house within the hour. These guys got rid of a huge hive in our roof. It was an especially difficult job because it was on basically the third story of our house (2-story house is built over garage), and they had to use a boom to get to the hive.
