Lawrence is truly a good lawyer and general good guy. During all the economic eviction chaos that was going on in San Diego, we desperately needed support against a bad landlord. There isnt much support for tenants here, really, there are is almost none. After calling about 30 offices and being told they were to busy or only supported landlords, Lawrence listen to what we had to say and decided to represent my wife and I from illegal rental increases. Everyone else wanted us to go to court. Lawrence instead wrote a nice letter for our landlord, explained what we were going to do, and then put the ball in the landlords court. That was enough to get him to back down, listen to reason, and keep the rent at the legal and fair rate. Avoided the hassle of court for both sides, and saved everyone money, while resolving the overall issue. At no point was he looking to railroad anyone, he genuinely wanted to seek mutually beneficial outcomes for both side, despite not really ever needing to engage with the landlord. I really appreciated that he advised us to just seek what was genuinely fair. Lawrence was kind, responsive to emails and phone calls. My wife was very scared about the worst case scenarios and Lawrence took the time to address all of her concerns as well as mine. He gave us peace of mind with a sold plan with each step. He followed up with us during the way and even checked back in with us months later to make sure things were still going well. I am a landlord who needed to serve a 60 day notice to quit to a tenant. It was all handled via email and phone, and the written notice was professional and perfectly stated, with the legal reasons and associated laws clearly given. Lawrence of Safer Law understood my situation and was very personable over the phone. The cost was quite reasonable, considering that they even provided the delivery service of the notice as I didn't wish to perform it myself. It is my opinion that due to the clarity and thoroughness of the notice that it was taken seriously and created zero problems or backlash - the tenant left on the day of the deadline given. I've used Lawrence twice now for two different issues and both outcomes were in my favor! Issue #1 was him writing a letter to prospective tenants to cancel a lease agreement that was not in my favor and the letter worked perfectly. The lease was cancelled and I was able to rent to the tenants who I wanted to. Issue #2 was him writing a letter to a collections company and apartment complex that erroneously put me in collections for not paying rent upon my move out. I went back and forth for months with collections and apartment community and nothing got accomplished. Finally after realizing this was a lost cause I reached out to Lawrence who promptly wrote a demand letter and my problems were solved about one week later. To keep it simple, In 2012, I dismissed Mr. Mudgett after multiple red flags of unethical and unprofessional conduct. Mr. Mudgett is vindictive - and he still doesn't stop! Not only did he harass me and my children, but now also my elderly mother. In 2017, he placed a fraudulent lien on my mother's house by manipulating documents. She discovered this last year. This attorney was not good. Firstly, he represented that he charged a "flat fee" but soon proceeded to bill me for almost every appearance claiming the " flat fee" was used up. I had no choice at that point, as he knew, since I was too deep into the case. Then, after multiple hearings, fees paid, I "won" the case. He promised to do the fee hearing and collection of the judgement on contingency. Not only did he not show up for the fee hearing, he never even attempted to bill me for the fee hearing, never told me he was not showing up, and dodged my calls knowing I would be disappointed given his promises. Now I have paid him about $3,000.00 and have no recourse. I would not recommend him. read more
