This was not my usual place but I went here after COVID re-openings. A friend recommended that I set-up an appointment because of how quickly I would be able to be seen. As someone who has had their nails done professionally for years, I decided after two visits, I did not like the place. I could tell immediately that there was NO effort placed in truly taking care of my nails. I could tell that they just wanted them to look 'nice' so they could take my money and I was right. After one week my nails were falling apart and raising. After my two weeks were up, I decided to go elsewhere and the nail technician discovered a nail fungus. I have made it a point to write a review about this "salon". I decided to give this place one last change last week because it is very conveniently located to my house. I had a gel manicure and polish change on my feet = $55!!! plus and EXTRA $5 for paying with my card!!! 2nd time they do this I have never had this happen before. JUST DON'T COME HERE. Let me start by saying that I usually don't write reviews on businesses. I know how hard it is to run one and I know how hard people at nail salons work. But with that said... I've been coming here on and off since they opened. This Salon has just deteriorated. The customer service is AWEFUL. I had a 10 am appointment for a gel manicure. One of the ladies takes an old cardboard nail file and abruptly scrapes the old gel I already had on my nails and wraps my fingers with cotton and acetone. Then I sat there for over 30 minutes while they took in numerous people without appointments for pedicures. They just ignored me. I got up TWICE and asked Gina when someone could start my manicure as I had to be somewhere at 11. She keeps telling me someone will come but no one arrives. I'm now waiting for 35 minutes. Gina finally comes to do my manicure. She was completely distracted the entire time. She stopped my manicure and left the table numerous times( I can't even count ) to to talk to other customers, trying to add on services or to convince them to do pedicures when they specifically said they didn't want one. She then gets into an argument with a customer over the color of polish the customer chose. The customer left. Up and down out of her seat she goes, leaving my manicure to answer the phone, make appointments, greet people at the door, make sales. It was total chaos. She was yelling at employees. And I'm sitting there,,, waiting and waiting and waiting. She messed up my polish so many times she had to start over. I've had my nails done hundreds of times at salons all over the country and I've NEVER seen anything like this. When she finally ( somehow?) finished my manicure I go to the counter to pay her. The cost was $40.00. She told me at least 5 times they only take cash on Sunday. Fine, I had cash. I paid her the $40. And the tip? I have ALWAYS given good tips to all my nail techs- 20% at least... but this time? For my horrific experience? I felt bad but I gave her 10%. And then ? She actually had the nerve to CHASTISE ME THAT I DIDN'T GIVE ENOUGH OF A TIP. SERIOUSLY?? Sooooo I tried to tell her WHY she DIDNT get a 20 % tip- she was totally clueless-- acted like nothing unusual happened. Really? Then she starts talking over me and yelling. Very disappointed in this place. It's very clean and nice and I was looking forward to making this my new spot. I had called a few hours prior to coming and made an appointment for 4:15. Unfortunately I had to sit there for 20 minutes before someone finally came down and told told me (twice) she would be with me in 5 minutes. I very nicely responded no problem. After a 30 minute wait, another nail technician came down and proceeded to take a girl who came in after me for her manicure. Finally we start the manicure. She then proceeds to take a phone call. Ok, I went here to get my nails done while I did my laundry. I live close by but usually go elsewhere. I should've asked how much it was before I sat down. They charge $5 extra if you pay with a credit card! A gel manicure for $35?! Seriously?? Now it was a pretty good manicure and very clean. Cindy was very polite and did very well at listening to what I wanted. However, I'd rather go to my usual place because even with a tip, I don't pay $35. read more

This place looks beautiful, and the promise of sanitization was tempting. But this place? No. We were constantly upsold, charged extra for a credit card (illegal!!), not allowed to tip privately, and were overcharged. The person I was with had asked for a manicure three times, and then was rushed through the process five minutes before we needed to go and was sent out the door with wet nails and wads of lotion to rub in. All of that is inconvenient, but the kicker was that I feel genuinely worried about their worker treatment, as the woman helping me seemed miserable, tired, and nervous. From criticizing my personal life to filing under one of my nails, lifting it up, and then blaming me for having my nails be "too short"...to cutting the side of my finger, which is now infected. I wasn't going to review, but after spending the last half hour draining and cleaning the little abscess that has formed on the side of my finger, directly under where she cut my skin, not to mention the discomfort I'm still feeling, I felt I had to say something. Another perfect gel manicure by Gina at Safety First Nail Spa. This nail salon is a relaxing place because when I get my nails done here I know that I get to unplug for an hour and a bit, while the technicians thoroughly prepare my nail beds for the gel color. They always take their time on my cuticles, which I greatly appreciate because they're a dry mess this time of year. No matter which color you choose (out of the 100's available) you'll love the result. Why? Well, for example, today I selected a Gelish polish called, "My Grcko Does Tricks," which is a vivid, light limey-green color with some sheen. Gina recognized that the first, thin coat was not representing the true color, so she did a total of three coats, to make it truly pop! Even though the extra coat took a bit longer, both of us were much more satisfied with the final look, and hence why I'm leaving this positive review. Go here. Give them a try. I've been here multiple times, and wasn't a huge fan. Recently I needed to have nails removed and figured I would just go here since it's a simple task. They didn't soak my nails and immediately went in with a nail clipper, and used an artificial tip to pry my nails off. Needless to say, it was painful. One of my actual nails was partially ripped off. Three different people had worked on me, and when we were done, they insinuated I had to tip each individual who had worked on me rather than tipping on the service. This was my first and last time at Safety First. It's close to where I live and a couple of my friends had been before so I said why not. I walked in at 6:40pm and I knew they closed at 7pm. I asked if they could take one more person for a pedicure and if not that was OK. They shuffled me around then finally sat me down and were extremely quick. She asked if I would like my calluses removed and I said yes as isn't that why you get a pedicure? After she rushed me through the pedicure they kept asking if I would like to leave? Obviously THEY wanted me to leave. When I went to pay, I got my receipt and it was $45! I normally pay $28 for a basic spa pedicure. When I asked her why it was so expensive she said $5 extra for a credit card (that is absurd), then $7 extra for getting there late.....(I asked if it was okay and they should of told me it would've been extra as I would've gone else where) and $10 for callus removal (didn't know this was an extra expense which is normally apart of a pedicure). I've been here twice. First time was fine except the owner (?) was continually and openly rude to the nice woman who was doing my pedicure. Second time, I had an appointment with a friend but we still waited over 45 minutes for our appointment. The woman who did my nails complained for the entire seven minutes about how they were making her stay to do my nails but she didn't want to. She did it so quickly that I was waiting for my friend (who sat down at the same time as me) for a half hour. It was so awkward and sad when it's supposed to be a relaxing experience. This is my one stop shop for acrylic nails, eyebrows & pedicures. Gina, the owner can come off a bit abrasive at times, but I'll tell you from personal experience she is a sweetie. She is funny & witty. Her staff is extremely accommodating & work very hard. Be sure to bring cash as they charge $5 for credit card purchases & I almost always make a reservation for any kind of appointment & I've never had to wait longer than 15 minutes to be seen. I came in to get a mani/pedi-I had a dip manicure done at another location and wanted gel - the woman said it would be be $15 to remove it plus $30 for the manicure (other places only charge $5-7 to soak of the dip powder). Then when I told her I just wanted just the pedi and I would go elsewhere for the manicure, she became very rude. The whole time I was there she just seemed very passive-aggressive. The pedicure it's self was $40 - she practically demanded the tip - which I ended up giving to her because I just felt so uncomfortable and wanted to leave. The pedicure was done poorly. I liked that the space was clean and airy and that they had clearly disinfected everything before each use. However, I wouldn't recommend. Even though I had an appointment, Gina was super rushed and exuded the attitude that I was doing her a disservice by being there. It was the fastest pedicure I've ever had and not at all relaxing. Also, I had made appointments with a friend and they didn't time them out well. My friend was already getting her toes painted when they started my pedicure. Of course, we ended our mani/pedis at about the same time since mine was so rushed. Also, when cutting my cuticles, Gina kept cutting and pulling them towards her in a way that was painful and that I've never experienced anywhere else. Brought 5 ladies in for Mother's Day pedicures. The staff reserved the whole hour for only our party - just had to pay a deposit. They were incredibly accommodating and really had a ball with us. Spa pedicure was wonderful - really high quality products, great massage, $55. My legs have never been so moisturized. Everything is super clean, and they have a medical grade autoclave for sterilizing equipment. My only (small) qualm was a sorta limited polish color selection. This place was once the only salon I would go to get my nails done because they were clean. Just before the pandemic, I noticed that they started charging extra for little things. For example, I went to a 6 pm appointment, and they charged me $25 because when the nail technician finished, it was about 7:05 pm. I asked why and was told that the technicians don't get paid for overtime, so they have to recover the cost. I paid it and left. Then last week, I decided to stop doing my nails at home and get a treat. I called and asked how much for a pedicure and manicure. I was told $50 if you pay cash. I went to my appointment and noticed how slow it was for a Saturday. When the Nail Technician came to do my nails, she didn't even say hello. She looked at my toes and said that my nails were too long, and she will charge $20 for this. I said that I always got my nails cut during pedicures and never had to pay extra. I asked why, but she simply repeated the price. I asked when this change occur, but I got the feeling she could not fully speak English. I figure that I could speak with someone after at the desk. While she was doing my nails, she spoke in her language to the other Technician, and I could make out certain things that sounded like complains about me. Everything just went badly from there. She asked for payment before putting the polish on my fingernails. When I asked how much, she said $90. I asked what the $90 was for, and she said it was for manicure, pedicure and cutting nails. I asked to see a price list, but there was nothing in there about charging for cutting nails, so I said that I wouldn't pay for that. She started to yell and said that she worked on me for 2 hours already and got no tip. I explained that it was just an hour since I came in, and I wasn't going to pay extra for something not listed. I was already paying more than what was quoted over the phone. She refused to finish the job until I paid $90. I requested to speak with the manager, whom she got on the phone. The manager told me that it's the rules. I should not agree to pay the extra if I was not going to. I told her that I never agreed. The technician found a few price list with the additional charge listed. I paid the $90, but she kept on talking about it in her language and English. I got angry and told her to finish my nails so that I can go. This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I really felt that the fact that I was a Black woman had a lot to do with the way that I was treated. Not only am I never going back there, but I told several of my friends that I recommended to go there years ago what happened, and they are never going back. I also filed a complaint with the BBB, New York State, and the City of Buffalo. Clearly, this company is doing some unethical things with their prices. I do not recommend that anyone use this nail salon. They are rude and in the habit of overcharging customers for services. Find another salon that gives you the pampering experience you deserve, not some place where they cheat you and make you feel like they are doing you a favor. read more

I have been coming here since they opened and all of the people that work here are wonderful. They try very hard to accommodate every and are sometimes incredibly busy. I generally call ahead to be sure they can take me and that works well for me. They are perfectionist and the polish lasts longer than most places. I was very satisfied with both services. I was also impressed that I was able to make an appointment the night before since it was New Years Eve. I had an ideal experience here. The atmosphere was clean, bright, and relaxed. As other reviewers have noted, it is a nice change to be in such a spotless nail salon. I started with a pedicure by Alicia, and it was the best, most thorough pedicure I've ever had. She did a fantastic job painting my toenails. We moved on to a manicure, which was equally wonderful. I will definitely book with Alicia in the future. I was a bit apprehensive about going to this nail salon because of some of the highly negative reviews, but it was a Sunday, I was leaving on vacation the next day, and I had walked out of THREE other nail salons the day before because of insane wait times - it was this or nothing. I'm so glad I took the plunge because really, my experience here was flawless. I brought cash with me, so paying was no big deal. I would not recommend anyone to patronize this salon. My daughter and I had 5:00 appointment for basic pedicure and manicures. As we had our quick speedy pedicure another tech did our nails while in the pedicure chair. This was a crazy stupid experience and not at all relaxing. The price per service was decreased by $5 each For paying with cash as we did. We decided not to tip as we felt the service was very poor and in turn were treated very rudely and told there is a 20% technician tip. I've been going here for years but don't plan to return. I have always been a very, perhaps overly generous tipper. Today I had a pedicure. The woman was very rough. She kept painfully and VERY firmly jerking my foot into the position she wanted. When I told it was painful, she didn't seem to care. When she removed the Polish from my last pedicure which was also done at Safety First, I was upset about the fungus that had grown on my toe. I asked what would cause this? She replied that I need to get my nails polished more often. What??? She put 2 coats of color on my toe nails and left without a word. I thought she was going to get top coat but she never came back. After about 15 minutes of never seeing her, I got up to leave and went to the checkout counter to pay the owner. I paid, and left no tip for the first time ever. The owner leaned across the counter and said to me, "the next time you come in here and don't tip, you will be charged an extra 20%". Don't worry Gina, I won't be back. I was incredibly disappointed by my experience. The staff talked about other clients loudly and yelled across the salon. My toe nail was cut too short and when I got home, I discovered dried blood under the nail. I didn't know I was bleeding during the pedicure- she didn't tell me, and she didn't clean it up. When I called to complain, I was told no one ever complains, and that I must be a very unhappy person, and I would never be happy. Not the response I was expecting. At the end- they through a huge fit in the middle of the salon, literally yelling about the price. They charge a group fee plus an automatic 20% tip. My sisters mother in law asked why they didn't inform us of this up front, and the one lady started yelling "we did you a favor!" repeatedly, as if we hadn't booked an appointment and had just walked in. First of all I should say I'm not one to go for a nice pedi weekly but when I do go I have a usual spot out in cheektowaga but being in a pinch and (reeallly) needing one I came here because I had heard great things. Called ahead and they said they could take me at 1:45, I got there a couple minutes early and they put me in a seat right away and I was immediately impressed (for a minute). It all went downhill from there. I waited about 35 minutes for someone to come and start my pedi and then after 20 minutes she left to take care of someone else and had her husband put a mask on my legs and feet and scrape the bottoms of my feet (in between the phone calls he took). The woman finally came back after another 20 minute break to quickly paint my toes ant then go off to take care of someone else. I understand being busy but start to finish this was not an ideal or relaxing or enjoyable experience. It was clean but that's about all I'd give them credit for. They also have their children (11-13 years old I'd say) running the cash register and taking appointments which personally I never love seeing. Next time I know to just give myself enough time to go to my regular spot. This is 100% not worth the convenience of being in the city. read more
