Tried to return some cans and bottles before leaving the state. I went inside and asked them if I could return bottles, the lady told me to go to the machine outside but it might not be working. I went outside, it wasn't working and looked like it hadn't worked in some time, they have a sign up describing Oregon law which states they must take up to 144 bottles. I went inside, a cashier called on the walkie talkie for someone to count bottles...waited... a manager came up, asked if we were returning bottles, called someone else over the radio, then helped the person behind us with a money order. Then she left us to wait some more, she acted like it was beneath her to return the bottles. 20 minutes later the manager stopped back through, asked if we were still waiting. Finally someone came and walked away with out bottles, didn't say anything, just took the cart and walked away. What is going on in this place? read more

It's an old time Safeway, if you go back in time about 35 years and walk into a brand new shinny Safeway, then imagine it still existing without improvements for 3 1/2 decades, that's what you get here. The town is struggling and Safeway shows it. I went in for Mayo and pickles, not fresh veg. Lucky me. Staff was fine, store was clean. read more

This is a big ole Safeway - it has everything you might expect, including a whole lot of pre-made salads that have a whole lot of dead animals on them. I found a nice bagged salad that was the only vegan option out of about 50 salads -- the Deli staff were kind enough to provide me with a nice plastic tray so I could eat my lunch on the bench in front of the store. Everyone working there was super nice -- including cute green haired cashier girl. Loads of parking - and with the folks all heading up to the eclipse, it was the most social parking lot I've ever seen! read more

Stopped here to and from the Alvord Desert. Last stop to get water, ice, restrooms, etc..So it is well placed for those needing last minute supplies before heading out to the desert. It is a pretty busy place. read more

this place has a mask problem. as soon as we walked in, an employee walked right past us with her face shield in her hands and at her than on her face. this was just the beginning. while the handful of employees with masks beneath their noses was nothing unusual, there was NO enforcement for their customers. a sign was posted outside, implying a requirement for a face covering, an employee sat in the entry way checking on guests entering, but at least a third of all customers wandered the isles without a mask. it made for a baffling and uncomfortable experience. this place needs to get its act together. and my sandwich was a bit dry. read more

Clearly not enforcing the mask mandate. At least half the customers weren't wearing one during today's visit. The deli employee had on, but pulled it down so she could hear us...I get that covid might be low there but people are traveling from all over to stop there. Management failure. read more

I am not really sure why they don't want revenue. More than 2+ weeks out to Christmas and they are all sold out of Holiday meals? You do know you are a grocery store right? Also why do you not have online or curb side pick-up? especially with the clientele who are older? Please look into updating systems and being more friendly to people trying to buy from you. I get it; there is not a lot of options, doesn't give you the excuse to not try. P.S. Thriftway staff (deli) is very helpful! read more
