Flowers
Dianna W.

This is a neighborhood Safeway . Today we visit the flower and stuffed animals sections. They have some beautiful pre made bouquets. The flowers are so fresh and colorful! Their florist did wonderful job in mix and match the flowers together. Stuffed animals are cute and we even found a Hawaiian State Fish plushie. Halloween decorations are up . The whole store is festive with fun theme.

This Safeway is really nice. They redid the floors and revamped the bakery in the last couple of years. I bought two small bundles of flowers here yesterday and then put them together at home to make a really nice bouquet! The flower selection at this Safeway is pretty diverse, so I found some good flowers that I liked.

It's a clean store, but I come here for only emergencies. Prices are high. Download the Safeway app to get it back down to "normally high prices" The clientele. You get people cutting at the self checkout. You have old ladies stealing electricity outside with those battery backup devices. Kids messing around in the isles. There is a reason why this Safeway needs a security guard. Ice cream is sometimes frozen over if you know what I mean. Like it once defrosted and then froze again. Detergents are now locked up. I'm surprised but not surprised at all. Sometimes the prices are marked wrong. Like right now, the Christmas cards are marked 75% off but will ring up full price when you checkout. Sometimes prices are straight up price gouging. Don't buy flowers here on Valentine's Day. Don't buy water here on a game day. Parking is awful here. Like I said, only come here for emergency needs.

I've always liked this Safeway. But, the parking is always terrible! There are a lot of restaurants and other businesses in this plaza. It's been a while since I've shopped here, but it seems like they are remodeling, so you can tell part of the floor has been scraped up, etc. The bathrooms are out of order. But some are in the customer service area. Standard fare, delicatessen, sushi, chicken wings, wedge cut potatoes, etc.

this guy for the self check is so rude . He overcharged your money . Pointing at the customer with his finger .His behavior was so disgusting. He shouldn't be here to face customers. He is not service to customers, he is impertinent limited customers to checkout , and brings so bad shopping experiences to the customers.

Joseph the night manager & Rosemarie

Racist staff, Immelda, Rosemarie, black women with dreads who covered her name, and Joseph I have been shopping at this location for over 10 years. I come in with my own cart, I do my shopping and leave. I am always harassed, followed or being starred at and stood over while going thru self check out, and accused of stealing. Rosemarie lied and stated I assaulted her after she came into my personal space to void my transaction twice for no reason. She was upset trying to assert her authority through discriminatory actions & words and I wasn't going for it. I've had several conversations with the store manager Robert regarding the harassment, false accusations and the discriminatory behavior and actions and nothing has changed. I'm banned for being difficult according to Joseph the night manager, not stealing but speaking out against discrimination and harassment from their staff.

This Safeway is a Baller On A Budget Approved Establishment!!

Last minute had someone write Happy Birthday that is why the font looks sloppy.
Ann M.

This review is for the Safeway Bakery. Two stars for the cake because it did taste decent. It is not as fluffy and more on the sweeter side. I took three stars away because they did not follow directions on how I wanted the print to be large, they put the "Happy Birthday" on the wrong cake, and was late for the pick up time. Today is the Marines Birthday so in celebration, my department placed an order for two cakes for the cutting celebration. There is a tradition where the oldest Marine cuts a piece of cake with his sword and passes the slice to the youngest Marine. It is a way to celebrate the past, present, and future. The oldest is passing his experience and history to the younger generations from my understanding. A chocolate and white cake was ordered. My coworker placed the order a week before the event and was very thorough on what design and print. The day of the bakery called saying that the cake wasn't ready at 9am, the pick up time requested. The bakery didn't have rice paper for the print, so we had to pick up the cake a hour later. Luckily, we weren't doing the cake ceremony not until noon but someone else had to pick up the cake since the time changed. When the cake was picked up the writing was on the wrong cake and the design on the rice paper should have been larger for the branches. We scrambled to find someone to write "Happy Birthday" on the cake cake. Someone did it but it was so sloppy and definitely looked last minute.

I went on to check it out because I needed a little somethin' somethin', and more than a decade later, I've been here at least twenty times and have even used its DriveUp & Go services a couple of times. For a suburban Safeway, it's on the smaller side, but it isn't small. The selection is very good for the size of the store. The parking lot can be a mess, but it's shared with other businesses, so that's not really Safeway's fault. The most annoying part of the store is familiar to supermarket goers everywhere: There's not enough room between the checkout stands and the aisles themselves, so while you're waiting to check out, you're blocking people who are trying to zigzag their way through all the aisles. But why am I focusing on the negative? The people who work here are always nice, and they always have everything I need. I often come here before I go to Costanoa; and the first time that happened, I picked up a very reliable, affordable, and lightweight flashlight from here. I've since bought at least five more flashlights from that company, although I haven't seen them here (I ordered the rest from the company website) since that first time. It can feel like a trek getting here, but I had this entire ritualized pattern that is now slightly altered because of a certain restaurant's lack of pinball machines. You probably don't know what I'm talking about, and that's fine. Oh, and when my friend Dan lived near here, which wasn't for very long, we came to stock up on pretzels and carrots before a night of Wiz-War, and I was shocked that it was the UPS Store Safeway, as I think of it--sort of. There might be another Safeway farther down Homestead Road, and that store isn't as good. I think/believe this because GPS once led me to a different Safeway, even though I had punched in Homestead Road. Speaking of the roads around here, the blocks are ridiculously long in this part of Santa Clara, so if you miss the parking lot, don't do the San Francisco right-right-right move. Just make a U-turn. I'm normally a right-right-right guy, but if you do that here, it will take you forever.

Food prices are okay, service is awful, ambiance is okay, and I would probably shop here again.

She looked at my ID and looked at me back and forth. Granted, my license is from Florida, I understand it look different then CA license so I offered to show to her my date of birth on the ID. She proceeded to ask me to state my home address listed on the ID. I'm confused. In the middle of this line with people behind me you want me to recite my home address? That's a safety issue so I told her it was on my ID. She insisted and asked me THREE MORE TIMES!!! Each time with a little bit more attitude And my answer remains the same...It's on my ID, the one I just gave to you. Per California law, you do not have to state your home address when purchasing alcohol; you must simply present a valid ID that contains a photo and is issued by a government agency, which I did. Mariah left the register with an attitude without saying excuse or nothing, came back with a different cashier, and told her I refused to state my home address. The other cashier (whom I forget to get her name but I'm thankful for her for picking up Mariah slack) asked me to confirm my date of birth while looking at my ID, and I did. She then stepped back so Mariah could proceed checking out the rest of my groceries. Mariah stepped aside and refused to help me with my groceries while making hand gestures as if she's done with me. Now I understand, if she felt uncomfortable with selling alcohol, that's a Mariah problem, but this is customer service. She could have put the alcohol aside, she could've sent me to the customer service line for proper check-out, so many things could have been done differently. But she stepped aside and refused to check out my entire grocery order. Keep in mind I'm the customer, and she treated me and looked at me as if I was someone who's less than her. It's not okay. That was Humiliating. You never know what other people are going through for you to treat them as such. I simply needed to restock my groceries this morning, and I left the store feeling distraught and humiliated. Mariah, please do better. This world is a dangerous place, please don't put people's lives at risk, educate yourself, and work on your attitude when you clock in to do a job that requires customer service or any job for that matter. I did called the store and spoke to a manager who apologized for Mariah's action, and confirmed that he will follow up rather reciting your home address is a form of verification to purchase alcohol in this Safeway because my ID is out of state although by California, it is not a requirement.

They had the usual array of nonstick pots, which don't work very well for me. They had a small but useful section for clay pots. I thought Amazon and AliExpress had overpriced clay pots, but I was wrong. These prices were significantly higher. I can only hope these are the best of the best. Checking up on 99 Ranch, I couldn't even find clay pots in there more limited kitchen utensil section. I ran across one item where knockoffs are ubiquitous. They've completely flooded AliExpress and you have to watch it with Amazon. Hankook had the authentic item and at significantly lower price than both Amazon and Aldi express. I found a tea section to be well stocked. I also recognize some of the tea brands. 99 Ranch has gone with lower cost options, but if you buy 6 ounces of tea, are you gonna be stuck with an enormous supply. Better to go with reliable brands that I have enjoyed in the past. I loved the produce section. It was nice and fresh. It also had wider selection of produce than other supermarkets. The store itself is stunning. The the aisles are spacious. The store is meticulously clean. The shelves are fully stocked. There were only about two items which were shopped out. The snack area and the frozen foods were even more interesting. It's obvious in those two sections that there were many more Korean brands. I should've tried some, but it's hard for me to resist snacks and there was a good chance that would finish the entire bag in one go. Better to skip it entirely. The parking lot for the supermarket is spacious. I had no trouble finding a spot even though I arrived in the late afternoon when everybody has gotten off work. I live about two hours away. And I am very jealous because there is no Hankook near me.

You'll spend anywhere from $70-$200 per trip cuz the small things do add up. They used to have prepped food marked off anywhere from 30-70% off in the final and early hours of the day. The first time it was good, but the second time, the taste was off. They used to have really good seasoned vegan crispy tofu bites in the frozen section. I can't remember the brand, but I haven't seen them in a while, so maybe they didn't have enough interest to keep them in stock? The line can get pretty long sometimes, but it usually moves quickly. There's plenty of parking, but I've noticed that most customers park poorly (not within the lines), so it can be a bit tricky to find a good spot.
