Service was good. A man was working the register when I came in. I placed a to-go order. The ambiance itself was alright. It wasn't too busy at all, just one other group at a table. Outside of that, it was pretty empty with parking available right up front too. The food is pretty good! I got the chicken curry with garlic naan. The chicken curry was super flavorful. It didn't look like any I normally but get, usually it looks more orange but still very good! I thought it came with rice but that might've been a misunderstanding. The garlic naan is very good as well! It comes with two pieces. Put together, they look to be about the size of a slightly bigger personal pizza. I would try again! read more

I'd give them 3.5 stars. The server was very friendly. The food was freshly cooked and steamy when it came out. And the bowls were FULL. The food spilled out a few times because they were full. (Not a complaint though) Chicken Korma was different from others I've had. But it was still good. The butter chicken tasted more like tikka masala. The naan was probably my favorite there. I've been getting a lot of TikTok ads for this place. Food looks good. Ambiance seems good. So we decided to stop in. It was a Saturday night and it was empty. There was one other table, seemed like they were finishing up their meal. They only had one waitress and the waitress was playing on her phone most of our meal. We got our food and immediately she went back on her phone. Which is fine had she not forgotten some of the things we asked for. Had to ask her a second time. I'm assuming it's because she was more interested in her phone. On TikTok they are advertising themselves as fine dining Indian food. You can tell they want to be fine dining but they aren't. At the end of our meal. We asked for boxes and we packaged some of our food but then the waitress came and tried to package our food at the table and touched our naan with her BARE HANDS, after I just watched her play on her phone and handle some pick up orders? ... yeah. Aside from all of that, the food was good. We got basic dishes and they're standard. No complaints on that. Butter chicken was more on the buttery side. Daal was delish. We tried the bhul puri--sweet, tangy, spicy, crunchy. That was my highlight, it was my first time trying anything like that, really tasty. Samosas were good. Overall, food was good. Service needs work. I do think they need to work on being fine dining, or just scrap it and just be a regular restaurant. No frills. I think they'd do better that way. read more

We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, basmati rice, vegetable samosas, and garlic naan, and every single dish was spot on. 6/14/25 Getting lunch! I ordered on PayPal, veggies samosas, cheese naan and a chicken tikka bowl made spicy to split. Convenient do order and waited shortly for it to be ready. Arrived! Let worker know! It was almost ready. He was kind. Restaurant is nice. Safe and clean. Indian music playing. Calm. Lots of booths, tables & chairs. Waited a while more and received with a thank you! Lunchtime! Order split. Chicken Tikka Bowl was good! Definitely flavorful with a nice spice. Only thing is, we each only had, like 3 tiny pieces of chicken. That was disappointing. I'm not sure why the reviews of this restaurant are so low. Look at Google reviews where it gets 4.9* with over 90 review. I ate dinner here with a friend. We had Lamb Biryani (medium spice), Tandoori Chicken dinner (medium spice), basmati rice, garlic naan, and drinks. Everything was delicious and the Biryani was OUTSTANDING. We specifically asked for our food to be made MILD because we cannot handle super spicy food, but everything came out EXTREMELY spicy to the point where our mouths and throats were literally burning after a few bites. We barely touched most of the food because it was impossible to enjoy. It honestly felt like our request was completely ignored. We even have pictures showing that we hardly ate any of the food because it was THAT spicy. Nobody wants to spend money on a meal they can't even finish. The worst part is that when customers clearly ask for mild spice, they should be able to trust that the restaurant listens. Instead, we ended up wasting money on food we couldn't eat. Even hours later our mouths were still on fire, and we're already regretting what tomorrow is probably going to feel like too. We visited Saffron Indian Restaurant for lunch on May 13, 2025, and were the only customers, though the server noted evenings are busier. We chose our seats, and menus and water arrived promptly. Our appetizers--Salt Lassi, Sev Puri, and Aloo Tikki Chaat--were delightful; Sev Puri was refreshing and balanced, though the Aloo Tikki had too much chana daal for my taste, despite tasty yogurt and chutneys. For mains, we ordered Chole Bhature and Chole Kulche. Bhature (deep-fried) paired slightly better with the chole than the tandoor-baked kulcha, which was stuffed with onion, paneer, and cilantro and served steaming hot. The masala chai was a standout. Overall, a great experience with fresh, delicious food and attentive service in a spacious, prime location. Minor drawbacks included stained paper menus, mismatched cutlery, and out-of-season Christmas decor at the counter. I'd return to try more dishes, especially for casual North Indian meals read more

This was our first time, and last time here. Food was eeehhhhh. We ordered it to-go, and when I went to pick it up, the restaurant was empty (not a good sign). Ordered butter chicken, rice, naan. The food smelled good, but the taste was very bland. The butter chicken almost tasted like a tomato based sauce rather than Indian based. Also not very much chicken. May 2025- we tried this place after them being open for over a year. We got the butter chicken, rice and plain naan to go. It was ok.... Butter chicken had minimal flavor. The order of naan was one large piece of naan cut in half. It's unfortunate they did not hit the flavor out of the park. We have no pictures to post. Unfortunately we will not be coming back. With only two groups (us being one of them) in the establishment, It took an hour for us to receive our food. The wait time and service is extremely bad. We weren't even offered a refill on our water. We also noticed this when a lady came in for a pickup order. She probably waited like 10 minutes for someone to help her. Is this the best Indian food I've ever had? No... but a) it is definitely in my top 5 Indian restaurants that I have tried in this area and b) it is the best Indian food I've ever had at 11pm. Given, my expectations were not too high when I decided to check this place out, but I was absolutely delighted to find that it was exactly what I wanted. The restaurant had a dark and calm vibe - not lively at all for a late Saturday night - though there were a handful of people enjoying late meals seating in the restaurant. I ordered a bowl and was thoroughly surprised that it was barely over $10. Definitely was not a ton of food, but I did not expect it to be as the bowls are literally on the "budget menu." Hidden gems are everywhere if you look for them. We kind of stumbled onto local Saffron, after a bad experience at another local IR. The atmosphere, service, and food were all in sync. This restaurant is located in the upscale Ft. Washington center next to Woodward Park. As you walk into the restaurant, there is beautiful arboretum on the front wall. A nice painting of the TAJ MAJAL on the left and a great Elephant on the right. I felt like I time travelled to India. So my wife and I were quickly served by a nice India gentleman. We were promptly served light crisp bread chips (like taco shell) with three dipping sauces. The fresh green sauce really stood out. The restaurant has hybrid cuisine like the tika marsala taco appetizer that was special. The operating hours are also welcoming 10:30AM-12PM daily? The other dishes were delicious, ample, and affordably priced. This place is the home run. We boxed our lunch leftovers for dinner. The owner, Karan introduced himself as we were finishing. He complimented our visit with a wonderful comp dessert (donut hole) bread ball in a sweet pancake sauce. The restaurant is an extension of a very successful family restaurant in Texas. I've been to saffron a few times now and each time I leave with leftovers and pleasantly full. Their samosa chaat is delicious and I love their goat jalfrezi and lamb vindaloo. Each time I've gone it has been spacious, private, and very relaxed. While I love the privacy, I do hope more people find this gem so I can enjoy many more dinners and lunches to come! read more
