I visit sagebrush often with my mom, so she has a companion for church. I am not a big fan of organized religion, but I am starting to form a soft spot for sagebrush. The people here are really kind and welcoming, and I love that there isn't much pressure associated with their services. (No public tithe, and they don't ask you to turn and greet each other, my personal least favorite.) I really like the main pastor- he is funny, talks in a real way (not a preachy way), and aims to connect with the audience. Other big bonus is the donuts here are FIREEEEEE, not gonna lie I come some weeks just because I want that donut. I would recommend sagebrush on the west side for anyone looking for a new church that is relaxed and welcoming!! read more

Their "counseling" department is not professional. They caused more harm than good. If you want to be victim-blamed go see their senior "counseling" pastor - who is not even trained in counseling. I'm not trying to put this church down and turn people off. I just want to let you know what happened to us and what I saw happen to others in the 15 years we attended here. I do believe the people here have a heart for Christ. Having said that, Pastor Todd doesn't like people. He has said it himself and it shows. He doesn't pastor his flock. He hides on Saturday and Sundays in between services. I'm used to pastors who shake hands and greet their congregation. You won't get that here. Staff are fired for not being liked. My husband was fired from a volunteer position(volunteer!) for voicing his opinion. Doesn't the church belong to the church? The people? Not to the pastor but to all. After 15 years, we finally left and found a church that belongs to the people and a pastor who greets us ever Sunday. read more

I joined Sagebrush in 2006 when they had their first service on the NW location. I never thought it was a overly friendly welcoming place but I stuck with it as people are just people but I witnessed some mud slinging. Then ten years later my son got married, four years later he and his wife ran into trouble in their marriage. I advised him to reach out to the church, he did and they passed judgement on him. I have never been a fan of organized religion. Simple as that. I have often wondered if simple mortals can really interpret the word and meaning of a creator successfully? 'Holy men' from many religions have tried teaching the true way of light. It would be easier to believe God had spoken to them, if they were all telling the same story. Most of the conflict in the world is and has always been because men interpret religion differently. I was dragged kicking and screaming (well almost!) by dear ones that I love with all my heart to a Saturday evening service at Sagebrush Community Church. I have to admit it was an interesting and unconventional service. The music was exceptionally good. The Pastor truly believed what he was teaching and was a very good speaker. He was able to cram a lot of information into an hour service by speaking loud and fast and almost without pausing. This particular evening his subject was "Vow to Wow." Dating and waiting. (Yeah, right!) Serving God should be about service. Service to others. Tell me what I can do, not what I can't. I sat there multi-tasking. Wondering what wonderous things could be accomplished if this captive audience and their pastor put this much effort and money into serving their community, rather than investing in two large video screens, the technical staff, the musical staff, the enormous campus, etc. Oh, don't get me wrong . . . it was inspiring. I am sure many in the audience went home that night and tried to get their teenagers to sign a contract agreeing to not have sex before marriage. And that is fine and dandy, if they can live up to it. But wouldn't our world be a better place if the service had been about teaching our children respect, responsibility, and helping those in need in their community? I'm still not a fan of organized religion. At least not until someone organizes around peace and service to others. The words are there, but the actions never are. If you are a fan, then by all means attend a service at Sagebrush Community Church. The pastor is sincere. The service is relaxed and focused. The music alone is worth a visit. read more

I was always skeptical of a "mega" church and though I've read many amazing reviews, I avoided this church till I've been to several others in the area. So as a last resort, my family and I tried this church little over a year ago. Man, I regret not coming here FIRST!! From the moment I stepped on the campus ground, we were greeted by friendly faces, escorted immediately to new family registration for children's church. Many people touched us kindly and very warmly even before we sat down for the first time. I immediately fell at home and tremendously enjoyed the amazing full band professional mosaic with my favorite contemporary Christian music, pastor Todd was relevant and hilarious, great to capturing our attention & keep it to drive home a real message. I was home. Since then, we've fast became the "owners" (members) of church and have been serving in the equally amazing kids ministry. Let me tell you about our kids ministry! Not only we offer "childcare", the ministry offers age appropriate lessons & activities by background checked people who are happy to teach who Jesus is so that you can enjoy the grown up service knowing your children are in good hands. The kids ages go from 6mo-5 years downstairs classes and 5+years go upstairs for kids church. There's also teen worship service on Mondays, Living Free recovery (from Life!) ministry on Wednesdays, mission outreach, single mom/elderly car repair program... The list goes on and on for where you can find yourself a place where you feel just at home. Small groups help in getting to know people so you don't feel list in the big church. This is NOT a mega church you would imagine! I feel so at home and comfortable. Come, give it a try! This is a true, bible centered, true to the Word, church, where people ARE the church, not just a building. Speaking of a building, there are several campuses so if you are not near Riverside campus, there are other locations you can attend and receive the same consistent message. This is the best church I have ever attended. While the church is large it pushes small group participation so one can truly "plug in." I am not sure how Pastor Todd does it, but week after week he preached Biblically relevant and convicting sermons. The kids ministry is outstanding. Pastor Todd is a great speaker, and presents Biblical teaching in a way that is understandable and applicable. I love the worship service, as it reminds me of a concert and the worship team staff is incredible talented and loving what they do. Life Groups and Classes are easily accessible, and I found it very easy to get information and attend in order to get to know people. The only thing harder about getting to know this church is that it is so large. By going to the different Life Groups is a good way to meet people based on your interests, life stage, and service areas you wanted to get involved in. There are 2 services on Saturday, 3 services on Sunday, and several campuses throughout Albuquerque. Whether looking for a church to get involved in for the long-term, or in town for a few days I recommend Sagebrush for great teaching. read more

People, please take into consideration that if someone is reviewing a church and they start off with "I have never been a fan of organized religion" you are probably going to get a negative review. It seems that R.C. needs to be out helping our community in ways she would like and not waste time criticizing others for doing what they feel to be best. My daughter and I visited this church with some friends and found to provide a lot of different, "helping hand" classes for people in need and every community needs that. The music was not my style but I was raised Southern Baptist then Pentecostal in Alabama. Good music, just not what I am accustom to in church. My teenage daughter did enjoy it though. All in all I think the church is doing a great job in the community and would recommend anyone that has never been there to give it a try. I promise you will find something you need there. read more

It seems like we have been church shopping for over a year. In fact I feel like my family is like Goldie Locks when it comes to churches. We can seem to find the right fit. We were part of a cool church in Las Vegas, NV. Yes churches are in Sin City. In fact we were a church for people who don't like church. We became very involved and even served in the church. It was a small church and easy to connect. Now enter Sagebrush. It is a big MEGA CHURCH! (You must make a deep voice when you say that.) Don't be scared of this church. It is a pretty cool place. I can see the size turning off people, but they have some great programs in place. You can join a small group, take some classes, or even have a conversation with someone at a bar by the entrance of the worship center. With all this being said it is still a big church and can be hard to have to have a sense of community. The services are contemporary and filled with anecdotes. The senior pastor Todd is a great speaker and keeps your attention. Everyone should have a least one laugh while in church. I want to focus on the kids program. This is probable the main reason we have stayed at this church. Their kids program is top notch. My 5 year loves it. She even talks about when she can go back. They have multiple rooms and engaging activities for the kids. If I was just reviewing the kids services I would give this place 5 stars. This church allows you to build a relationship with Jesus at your own pace. There are a lot resources available, so If you don't want to be homies with Jesus (you see what I did there? say Jesus in Spanish.) you can talk to a person or even send an email. Overall we have been happy. It took some getting used to being a MEGA CHURCH (See, I bet you said it in a deep voice.) but it's been great. It is such a cool place to be a to be a part of. Not only they allow you to be anonymous as long as you wish, but also, when you have decided to be a part of a small group, they will reach out and carry you in. I love how the whole church's mission statement is to know Christ and to make Him known. If you are shopping around for the right church, perhaps give this one a try? I visited this church for a Concert. The concert was Big Daddy Weave. Very nice and big church. I loved the seats, they were comfortable and I could see everything even when I was sitting far back. I love it. Pastor has a great message, music is great. The people are super friendly. It's well organized and I love all of the out reaches! There are mechanics there on the weekend that actuall fix cars for single women for free. Wow. Last year they donated thousands of backpacks and school supplies for children in need. One day the pastor was doing a message and mentioned mother Theresa and how she would pick out the worst shoes to wear so that the others in the village would have better shoes. At the end of service, without direction from the pastor, each person took off thier shoes and left them at the offering box. One by one, they took off their best Sunday shoes, put them in a pile to donate. The entire church left bare foot! Wow. I was so moved, I just cried. The church arranged that all of the shoes be sent to Mother Theresa ministry. read more

It is a very contemporary, welcoming church that tries to be pertinent to each persons everyday life through the word of God. I don't think that another reviewer, Rachel C., is aware of all that Sagebrush does in the community when she criticizes it for the two big video screens and what it could be doing. Every second Saturday families volunteer in the community. They have painted a south valley community center, helped a horse ranch that reaches out to troubled kids, and there were so many that showed to the food bank, it was overwhelmed. The food bank typically is prepared with plenty to do. Since there were so many volunteers, they went home and got tools to clean up the landscape. A majority of people at the church working/singing etc are volunteers and committed to knowing Jesus Christ and Making Christ Known. We try to be the Hands and Feet of God in the community. We don't attend church. We are the church. The church has been around for 11 years. The first 8 years it was a church that used westside schools on the weekend to meet. Volunteers had to put up and tear down every weekend. The people of sagebrush built a church after 8 years that does have nice big screens so that everyone can see in the sanctuary. The church works hard to reach out to youth, does mission work on reservations, Portland, Juarez etc. As far as "organized" religion goes, this is the best I've attended. No one thinks they are better than anyone else (even the pastor). read more

My family and I have attended several Sagebrush services. We were looking for a modern Christian based church. I was a little hesitant because Sagebrush is a "mega-church" with several satellite locations. The facility is a bit overwhelming, it's huge. There are many friendly volunteers to greet you, point you in the right direction, etc. There is even a "shuttle" service if you need help to your car. The services have all started the same way. They have a live band (with a variety of members). There are two huge screens (with captions) so that you are able to see the band even if you are in the nosebleed section of the stadium seating. The band is always very good. They play a variety of light- Christian rock (or as my husband calls it, "Jesus is my boyfriend music"), worship and even some of their own songs! It's like watching a concert with the neat lighting effects. We have only attended when Pastor Todd (the lead pastor) is speaking. We have attended Saturday and Sunday services. Pastor Todd begins the sermon with jokes that lead into the message. The messages are applicable to life. They are light and deep at the same time (does that make sense?) Pastor Todd is likeable, honest, and relate-able. He often shares his own trials and tribulations. I like that the message is focused on Biblical truth and Jesus, not religion, politics, money or other things. It seems very easy to get connected. There are many options to get involved (small groups, classes, community service,etc) The thing that is most appealing to us, is the childcare. My four year old loves going, she is always able to talk about what they learned. She brings home crafts, and discussion ideas. For her, the service begins in an auditorium. there they provide worship services (I'd like to check these out- my husband thinks they do skits (?)). the next pat of service the students are broken into their age- appropriate classrooms. This is where they deepen the teaching and do activities. Overall, Sagebrush seems like a great church. read more

Have been attending for about 4 months and every week I am blown away by Pastor Todd and the simple, yet amazing way he gets his message across. We get spiritually fed every week. Looking for a new church but I do not think this will be the one. Pastor suggested to get people to follow Jesus by drawing them a diagram??? Some people may find that insulting, and that might be a quick way to isolate yourself from them as a Christian. Ironic as part of message was about how Christians isolate themselves, but this was supposed to be a way to get way from isolation? I understand the intention is good, but a diagram? Really? Come on! Who is going to do that and who wants someone to shove a diagram in their face as a guide to being saved. I was ready to leave after this unfolded, but I was blocked in. Pastor went on to say he has trouble inviting non believers to church, and it took him "30 minutes to send a text" to invite a non believer. After finding out he was a Pastor for ten years I would certainly hope it would be a bit easier to spread the gospel. Not here to judge, and I can appreciate the honesty, it just made him lose his credibility as a Pastor supposed to be leading us in God's word. Perhaps I need to give Grace! Message was typical "Jesus died on the cross for our sins", but overall the message was not applicable to real life or friendly to new comers as it was all about getting more people to come to their church. Only good take away is to serve God by serving others through your actions. I'm not sure why attendance is so high at this church. There must have been a couple hundred people there so I was a bit baffled. Perhaps just not my cup of tea. I left feeling not great about the experience. read more

My family and I have visited Sagebrush a few times. Our kids have really enjoyed the children's program and seem to get a lot out of the message catered to them. Pastor Todd is great at public speaking. The few times we've gone though there seems to be a very heavy emphasis on 10% tithing. It's common sense churches need money to grow, but somehow the 10% tithing is slipped into every message. Giving any other amount seems unacceptable in this church and the argument seems to be that God will provide the rest. Something about this just doesn't sit right with me and this idea isn't supported by New Testament teaching. Sermons are more like "sermonettes" in which self-help style messages are focused on a few short biblical excerpts. I do wish there was more of an emphasis on the full message being presented in the Bible. Overall, we will probably continue visiting until something else makes sense. Thursday night small groups are very fun though- I highly recommend them! read more

Sagebrush Eldorado (satelite campus in the Northeast Heights ABQ) is fantastic! Although the sermon is a telecast from the main/Riverside campus it is quite effective in disseminating the gospel message because Pastor Todd is an incredible orator. In addition, there is a live contemporary worship band led by a fabulous singer Billy Linnehan. The church has a very modern approach to teaching the gospel (no suit and tie required--- come as you are!) attracting people from all walks of life. read more
