Now let's get to the service $150 for a 50 minute massage is a lot of money and you would expect an amazing service. Well, not the case the entire Massage felt like she was rubbing sandpaper on me. Her hands were soo rough, like sandpaper. It was so NOT relaxing the farthest from a massage that I could've wanted. I am a licensed massage therapist for 30 years. It was the worst massage I ever had in my life.!! If you're going to be in this business, make sure that your hands are smooth if you're going to be touching clients Also, if you're paying for a 50minute service, make sure that the client gets their time I was only worked on for about 42 minutes and the session was over. Your therapist need to be trained on how to give the client their full time they've paid for.!!! read more

After checking into the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake, I quickly noticed the spa and it peaked my interested immediately. Let me give you some background, I love trying different spas, getting different treatments, massages, and just enjoying the space all around. I found it easy to make an appt as I called on a Saturday morning to book a body scrub for the same day. The receptionist was very sweet over the phone and said she could have me come in at 4 pm. At 3:34 pm I made my way downstairs, the spa is easy to find and has a staircase to take you upstairs with beautiful natural light and a waterfall. Checking in was quite simple, fill out a short form with my preferences. The receptionist grabbed her walkie talkie and called for someone to escort me. I stood there on my phone waiting for someone to get me. I wasn't told to take a seat, so i continued to stand. Then I noticed someone behind me, I didn't turn around immediately because I assumed they would either call me signal. After a minute I turn around and a young lady makes eye contact and walks inside. I assume I was supposed to follow her so I did, although I thought it was weird that she didn't say anything. It quickly got better from there, she walks me inside and welcomes me and shows me where everything this. My locker, steam room, sauna, showers, and all that jazz. I get changed into my soft robe and make my way to the relaxing waiting room. There were mini healthy muffins, granola bites, flavored water, and juice (I think.) Lighting was dim enough and there were plenty of magazines. The blankets were a nice touch as well. Not too long until I was called by Heather. I really hope that was her name because she was AMAZING!!!! I did mention how often I visit spas right? I was excited about my body scrub and thought I knew what to expect...boy was I wrong, I was pleasantly surprised. I walk in to a large room and see a vichy shower, for those that don't know, imagine a massage table that looks like a tub kinda in the sense that it has a drain. Above you are about 8 shower heads and they are on for about 30 mins. While the water ran consistently, she would turn off two at a time to scrub the amazing scrub all over. So front, legs, arms, and then turn for the back. Basically, heaven. Let me fast forward, following the scrub I had a body butter application and scalp massage. This was the first time in my LIFE that I fell asleep. She was literally heaven, I was sooooo relaxed. I would definitely be back to see Heather. One star off for the check-in process that did not feel very personal but all in all, loved the experience. read more

My friends and I did a girls weekend getaway and got the custom sago massage. First off, they charge a mandatory 20 percent tip, so I was expecting a high-end massage. It was absolutely awful! I paid for a 50 minute massage, but only got a 45 minute massage. Plus, I told the masseuse areas I wanted her to focus on and told her specifically not to do anything on my neck. She spent most of the time working on my neck and didn't focus on any of the areas I specially asked for. My friends had similar experiences, in which the masseuse did not focus on any of the areas requested. For a $156 total, this massage was not worth it and we all left unhappy sadly. I am a salon owner and regular spa visitor. I love the ambiance of a service oriented business. I love to feel pampered. My massage was good. I payed for deep tissue, got some of that. My technician was slow and methodical. I Love that! But the knots were still there. I was not offered wine or aromatherapy, we requested aromatherapy. I had two spa services during my stay at the Hyatt. The facial was a resurfacing peel and it was really great! My skin is glowing and the deep exfoliating has address a smoothness that is lovely. I came to this Spa with high expectations because I frequent the Four Seasons Spa. Well after this day of pampering they really have put what used to be my favorite Spa to shame. The ladies were so welcoming at the front desk. I felt like I was at a friend's spa. I had Sue for a deep tissue massage. Sue was spot on with the pressure. Caterina took care of me during the Wrap Service. When I say this lady fingers felt like hands of an Angel!!! She was so kind and gentle. I just had an amazingly relaxing massage here at the Sago Salon and Spa. All of the staff were polite and helpful, the facility extremely clean and attentive to our needs, and the ladies giving the massages were great! It definitely is a luxury, as their prices are on the higher end, and there is an automatic 20% tip but I felt it was well deserved on my end. My friend and I both got regular manicures, and while the atmosphere was nice and relaxing, and the woman who did our manicures was super sweet and lovely the actual manicure was one of the worst I've ever had. My go to spa sits on the Chesapeake Bay can't beat it for location, ambience and good spa services.

The only reason I gave this spa more than one star was for the actual service. I had both a facial and massage done here and the services themselves were satisfying. And furthermore the masseuses were very pleasant and accommodating. The relaxation room and locker rooms are nice but should be in pristine condition considering people are only in robes while in the waiting areas. However, the attitudes of the ladies at the front desk are absolutely UNACCEPTABLE for people working in the hospitality industry. The lady helping me made me feel like a bother to her instead of having a happy and friendly demeanor as spas should have. If I was a manager I'd send these girls walking. I do not enjoy spending the amount of $ that I did on a place like this when the staff is so rude. What is suppose to be a relaxing experience became a very big disappointment. read more

After reading reviews I concur with comments about front desk. So unfortunate because your experience there sets the tone for the rest of your time at the spa. Tried to pay for next day treatment ... nope! Then tried to pay for my daughter's pedi as a gift. Nope. Can't do that. Yes you can! Went here to get my hair done for my wedding and I was lucky enough to have Carol as my stylist. She was absolutely fantastic and her work was perfect. I asked her to tease my hair up to Jesus (think big, blonde southern belle hair because I'm what the kids are calling "extra") and, boy, did she deliver! We did a couples massage today and we're very impressed. This is an anniversary ritual we have and this one was by far the best. My therapist, Amanda, is a true healer. I expected her to avoid a foot I recently had surgery on but instead she took time to tailor my massage to relieve swelling and increase circulation. Took my bestfriend here to celebrate her 50th birthday with a happy hour massage which was a 45 minute massage and a glass of wine and snacks. It was amazing. Get there early though...you can enjoy the relaxation room, wind down, do the sauna prior to your massage and even after. They don't rush you out once your massage is done which I LOVE. Both of us enjoyed our massages, the sauna was very nice, something I usually don't do but enjoyed and the staff was all great especially the young man at the front desk who was very pleasant to deal with. Upon leaving, my girlfriend received a little gift bag with some goodies in it compliments of Sago for her birthday and I was very happy to pay the mandatory tip of 20% because I felt it was worth it due to our experience. Sago spa includes the tip upon payment, so this doesn't provide an incentive for the massage therapist to actually do a good job. My massage wasn't the full 50 minutes and she did not focus on the areas I requested. Why ask if you aren't going to listen? I've had better massages and for the price point, it was definitely NOT WORTH IT. I wish I could get my money back. read more

Downgrading to 2 stars. First, I requested aromatherapy and they didn't incorporate it. Also, I requested a 50 minute massage and it was only 43 minutes of actual massage. They walked me back at 10:30, started at 10:36, and stopped at 11:19. Considering the bamboo massage costs over $3 per minute, I find this to be unacceptable. The practice of the massage time including walking, disrobing, and hydration time was confirmed by the front desk. The massage, for the period of time that I had it, was good, however. Considering the cost and business practices that don't take into account the customer, I can no longer recommend this location. read more

I had a great massage after a very long few weeks. The cmt was amazing and was able to loosen every ache and pain. The spa overall is very nice looking. The staff were super friendly. The only negative was the sauna wasn't as hot as I personally prefer it. But a good sweat and a great massage was just what I needed read more

I booked a 60 minute essential oil massage for 4:30 pm. I showed up a little early to be able to relax in their relaxation room, and was greeted by a fairly unfriendly receptionist. She wasn't rude on my arrival, just not the bubbly, friendly personality that usually greets you at spas. My masseuse, Heather, got me a few minutes after 4:30, and we got into the massage room by 4:35. We discussed the scent options, and she left so I could undress and get on the table. My massage started at 4:45, and finished at 5:30, or a few minutes beforehand, because by the time I sat up after my masseuse had left the room, the clock said 5:30 exactly. My massage was just fine, although 15 minutes shorter than what I had booked. Additionally, the massage room I was in overlooked an outdoor courtyard that was having an extremely loud cocktail hour for a wedding or other event. I could hear people yelling, laughing, etc., the whole time. When I went to check out, the receptionist did not even ask me how my massage was. I kept waiting for her to do so, but she simply proceeded to charge me (for service and the mandatory tip!!), and was extremely rude and seemed very annoyed to have to be doing her job. She finally presented me with a receipt to sign, still without asking if I was happy with my service, so I asked her what the policy was regarding length of the massage, and if a 60 minute massage included time for other things (i.e., choosing scents, etc.,) or if it was 60 minutes of hands on massage, and she said it was 60 minutes of hands on massage. I explained that I only received a 45 minute massage, and that it was very loud the whole time. She said she would charge me for a 45 minute massage since that's what "you think you got" (said rudely), and I asked that she discount it given the loudness during the massage. She said she could not do that without a manager, and that no manager was present. She then sort of looked at me like she wasn't going to do anything else, and the entire charge, plus mandatory gratuity, was charged to my room. I get 6-8 massages a year, and always get one on vacations. I have never been treated like this, especially regarding the receptionist, who was unfriendly when I arrived, and down right rude on my departure. Luckily, the front desk manager at the hotel was delightfully friendly and apologetic, and assisted me with this issue where the spa would not. All in all, my massage was short, but fairly nice, and the facilities here were also nice. Not the best massage I've ever gotten, but if it had been the full 60 minutes, and I had been treated politely by the reception staff, I would go back. But, that didn't happen. I recommend looking elsewhere for massage opportunities while in Cambridge. read more
