We just went to the bar at Sahm's Place for the first time. We have been to the restaurant, and enjoy it very much, but we were a little disappointed by the service at the bar. There was a short female bartender who seemed perplexed when we asked for a drink menu. When my wife asked for a fruity mixed drink recommendation, the bartender seemed confused and asked her if she just wanted a shot of flavored vodka. When my wife said no, she wanted a fruity mixed drink, the waitress repeatedly asked her what specific drink she wanted. I don't know if she is new, or perhaps had been told not make recommendations, but she was not only unhelpful, but somewhat insulting. She made us feel unwelcome because we didn't know specifically which drink we wanted. We will not be going back to that bar, although we would be happy to eat at the restaurant. read more

I've never been to Sahm's Place and tried it for the first time this weekend. It was so much more than I expected it to be! The menu options are all delicious sounding and include a lot of local ingredients. Everything was so fresh and the service was maybe the best I've ever had! Shoutout to server Molly...she was amazing and very friendly! I got " Ryan's Current Edition" with some fries and it was the best patty melt I've ever had. Well I returned last night with my wife, sister-in-law and her husband. We had a great meal. I had the Chicken Avocado Quesadilla, My wife had the chicken stir fry, Al had the club sandwich, and my sister in law had the chicken salad. We were all happy with the quality of the food and again, the server (though I asked, I can not remember her name) did a remarkable job and put up with my constant request for "Sweet Tea" and went along with that I made my own. We were not rushed at all, ate well, and simply said that it was much better than the one in Pendleton (now closed) that we had gone to but I never reviewed for some reason. THe Sahms Place is a natural place for us to go. It's noise level was perfect to carry on a conversation. All is still well with this location! I highly suggest to all that visit us, or people wanting to know where to get a good dinner along with good dining. Thanks to our Waitress for being so great ! Love Sahm's Place! And all of Sahm's other locations as well. My family goes here almost every Friday night. We love it! The wait staff is always very friendly and accommodating to my young children. The kids menu is great and contains really good food! Great place with a family room and a bar room. I have sat in both. Sometimes it seems like the lights are a little too dim in the dining room. But the environment is nice. The decor at Sahm's Place is nothing special - but that is fine with me. Drinks are a plenty - full bar with a lot of local beers available. They have nightly specials with about 3 different drink choices (on special each day) The Bloody Mary is amazing! The bar is nice. Plenty of seating and lots of TVs to watch your favorite game with 2 dart boards. Food is usually pretty great!. I have ordered from almost every category (sliders, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, dinners). All food I have ordered has exceeded my expectations. I have enjoyed almost all of the slider/appetizer menu (early dinner/9p and after) for $2.42 each are all pretty amazing and filling. Burgers and Sandwiches are always amazing. The bun on the burgers are incredible. If you like a little heat - try the Sahm Bomb Burger or the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich - amazing. Salads are typically fresh and a great combination of ingredients. Oh and get the onion rings! They are some of the best. I just wish they didn't remove the Veg-Head sandwich. I have been a vegetarian for a year now and the veg head was amazing! Price is very reasonable. I feel like we are some of the younger people when we go to Sahm's (I'm 35) but I really like that. This is our go-to place when we want to go out. The service is prompt and friendly, the beer list long and varied. Good burgers and sandwiches for meat lovers and vegetarians alike. I really like this place. This spot is intimate but still had a really communal feel to it. I met a friend here today for a late lunch. Great drink specials everyday. Nice to see a varied list of food specials daily, too. I settled on the Bison sliders, which were pretty darn good (I subbed cheddar for pepper jack). The staff is really friendly and helpful. Went this Friday night.food was great, service wasa slight off but they were busy and all the staff was hustling. Problem I had was with a drink order. They had JD on special for $5.00. I ordered one and the server asked how I wanted in. On the rocks I said. When I got the drink I felt it was a light pour.When dinner was served I ordered a Second not saying anything about the first drink. This one was double the first. When the check came I was charged $7.00 a drink. I challenged this and was told by the mgr that these were "Rocks Pours"which were 2oz instead of the 1.5 oz. std. I stated to her that I never ever heard of such a thing. They comped the $4.00 but said it was a misunderstanding that their servers would better explain next time. This is a great place and I will be back but....has anyone ever heard of such a thing. Forty years of drinking and its a first for me. read more

Just good neighborhood food. My husband and I live near and get their take out at least once a month (they are always easy to get on the phone and get your food ready quickly - in my opinion it is better and actually as fast as say Panera and about the same money as well). I love the spinach melt, chili, buffalo chicken sandwich, and chicken fingers. My husband really likes the tenderloin sandwich and meatloaf sandwich. All of their sides are yummy as well and their coffee cake which comes with any salad will melt in your mouth. If you just want some good solid bar food, you can't go wrong with this place. read more

A great mix of genuinely friendly and attentive service, nicely prepared and presented food, reasonable prices, and clean, pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. My spouse and I have visited somewhat regularly over the past year or so and have only experienced one minor disappointment (not-so-good tilapia substituted, without advising us, for cod in their fish-and-chips dinner). Management sincerely apologized and made it right with no excuses. Steaks are good ... and the burgers are not only delicious, but HUGE! I recommend the "Clint Eastwood" -- fresh angus burger topped with american cheese, mozzarella cheese, onion rings, bacon and BBQ sauce. read more

I almost made this a 2-star review, but that would have been harsh. The service was 2 stars, while the food ranged from 2 to 5 stars. We have been here several times in the past few years, and have generally enjoyed our visits. The bad service really ruined the experience for us this time though. Here's our story: We were meeting a group of people for dinner, and had arrived about 10 minutes early. We told the hostess that were had a group of 8 people. The dining area was maybe half full, but she pushed a four-top table together with a two-top. For all you non-math majors out there, that's a 6-top table for 8 people. There was a table of people next to us who look like they were about to leave, so I thought maybe they would push that table over to accommodate our group. (That never happened.) I try not to make a stink about things like this, but it was really annoying having to squeeze my elbows in and jockey for position throughout the whole meal. We put in our drink order, which took almost ten minutes to arrive. Then most of our group showed up, and the waitress clumsily took their drink orders. When our final guest arrived, he had nowhere to sit. Someone from our group had to go steal a chair from another table, so he could sit awkwardly at the end. Our waitress would not return to take our orders (or refill any drinks) for another 20 minutes. Our food arrived fairly quickly after ordering, but they forgot toast on at least two orders, which is pretty annoying -- especially when you just order eggs and toast, or you like to put your eggs/bacon on your toast. By the time the toast arrived, everything else was cold. I had a black-bean salsa verde breakfast sandwich, which tasted ok, but was served at room temperature, and had maybe 5 black beans on it. My son had a simple bacon, eggs & toast meal. One of his sunny-side-up eggs had half of the yolk come out extremely hard and rubbery. (How do you even do that?) His first orange juice was very heavy pulp, while the next one was no pulp. The waitress only came back to refill drinks once during the whole meal, talked to us with a timid hesitance, and seemed to be avoiding our table for the most part. Long story short. They're lucky that they have a good kitchen, because their service is hit or miss. A big part of going out to eat for me is the service though. With this latest experience, I won't be in a rush to go back. read more

Underwhelming visit. My wife and I stopped by after a 10 or more years since our last visit. We were greeted quickly and sat immediately on the restaurant side. We placed our drink order, these were quickly brought to us, then the server left before we could give our order. She returned shortly after and we placed our order. We ordered a BLT, jalapeño poppers, chips and queso, and fish & chips. The queso was a yellow cheddar cheese sludge, straight from a can and tasted like yuck. The bacon on the BLT was undercooked, slimy, and mostly fat. The fish and chips is advertised as a beer batter cod, and french fries. The fries were overcooked and "crunched" when eaten. What arrived at my table was corn meal battered fish. I explained this to the waitress and she explained this was their beer battered fish. My drink was empty by the time our main course arrived. Despite having it sitting on the end of our table a refill was never offered. While waiting for our to-go boxes, which took 3 visits to the table to remember, the host asked if we needed anything and I finally got my drink refilled. I remember why it had been so long since our last visit. read more

We really enjoyed a Sunday lunch at Sahm's. My wife had blueberry pancakes, which she felt were among the best she's had. We also tried the spicy garlic wings, side wedge salad, and Keith melt. They were all very good, with the burger being innovative and delicious without going over the top. We saw many other things on the menu that we are looking forward to trying. review is for the bar on the south side of the bldg, not the dining room to the north. sahms is a great casual place to grab a drink. eating tables to the right, separated by a divider from a row of 2-person high tables and the bar itself. bar is classic wood with a nice rail and footrest. bar back looks great and is well-lit, as is the entire bar area. enough hdtvs to catch the game. great food and service. like so many other places, have moved to a craft beer focus, large beer menu that changes daily. read more

Absolute perfection !! Dinner salad was as fresh as it could get with a nice array of greens, cucumbers and tomatoes along with homemade croutons that are AWESOME !! House dressing...some kind of creamy parmesan was excellent. I had the filet and it was cooked to perfection with mushrooms. Tender and so tasty as a filet should be. My partner and I went to Sahm's last night for dinner and, as usual, the experience was wonderful! I had a "Clint Eastwood" (double) with no bun and it was a delight to the eyes, as well as the taste buds. Had a side of green beans to keep it as low carb as possible and enjoyed almost all of it (a lot of food!). We are never disappointed when we eat at Sahm's. Sahm's was a bit of a late discovery for me. From the first time I went there, I loved it. The staff are always very friendly, and the service is fast. I particularly love their clam chowder which I found to actually be addictive. All the other soups I've tried have been very good too. Their sandwiches are very good, especially their turkey spinach melt. I also love their stir fry. Their bread is great, and I loved when they had Boston Cream Pie too. I was going there about once a week, but we had to cut back because of cost. Still, it's a great place and very enjoyable. read more

I thought this place was great based off of one visit for dinner with my buddy. We ordered nachos as an appetizer - delicious. I got a house salad as my side - well done and good value. And finally a fish sandwich with cheese - wonderfully done with breading that was NOT too thick and very tasty. This was our first (and most likely last) visit to Sahm's Place on East 65th Street; we chose this restaurant because we had never been there and we wanted to celebrate Mother's Day in a new place. Other than the very observant waiter "Rocky" the whole dining experience was less than appetizing. For starters, we were seated in the far corner...no windows and right across from the restroom entrance...why do restaurants even have tables close to restrooms; even though there were plenty of available tables elsewhere. Second, the menu was a buffet...which is something that I really enjoy...but the food choices at Sahm's Place were very limited (in my opinion). They had breakfast and lunch options. The biscuits were hard. The sausage gravy was tasteless. The bacon was plentiful the first go round but was warm at best and was very greasy. The pancakes & french toast triangles were cold and soggy. The lunch options were shrimp and fried chicken and other selections. Again, the items were warm at best. After making it through a first plate I went back for seconds and there were no more biscuits, no more bacon, and no more hash brown potatoes. Again, Rocky (the waiter) was the best part of the meal and that does not say much for a restaurant. It should be the food quality that is the most important. The dessert selections were plentiful but they were sub par also. The brownies did not have any flavor. The cheesecake squares were okay. The salad selections were good though. read more

Stopped in today at Sahm's Place on Keystone to participate in the $5 burger week special. After sitting down and receiving drinks the wait person confirmed that the Sahm's Classic Burger was slider size. I asked for a bill and told her that we were going to leave as we had anticipated that the Burger Week advertised Classic Burger was just that and not a substituted "slider" size that would not be a special deal. We paid $5.21 for 2 soft drinks and left. Waitress in the exchange of conversation told us that she did not make the rules?. Thanks, I needed to know that! We drove back towards Carmel and stopped at the Stacked Pickle and had a real $5 burger. Nicely done! I will likely never return to Sahm's. It makes no sense. If Sahm's was going to participate in the Indy Burger event why they did not have a real burger entry. The slider was offered elsewhere on the menu for $2.62 each. I did not order or receive one so I have no way of knowing if there was something else special about it. I can only judge by the exchange of info with the wait person that it was a snack item and not entree sized. Pretty disappointing at best. Manager responded to the complaints and offered us the Classic burgers but that was too late, I said that I was done, and left. read more
