This place is amazing! The wait staff was very kind and attentive, and the food is phenomenal! We ordered the gui cuon (summer rolls) as an appetizer, which were delicious. I ordered the medium rare steak and well done brisket pho, which as you can see from the picture was huge! It was also beyond delicious. I don't know what they changed about the simple pho broth base, but it was by far the best I have ever had. My husband ordered the sesame chicken, which he said was more like a sweet and sour chicken, but delicious none the less. The food came quickly, there was plenty of it, and the prices are amazing. Our app was under $5, my dinner was under $8, and my husband's dinner was under $12. The only downside to the whole place was that the bathrooms smelled like there was a sewer issue, but the smell was confined there, and it didn't take away from the dinner at all. read more

I decided to get the #52 because it had pork chops, chicken, grilled pork, shrimp, eggs, egg rolls and rice. It was plenty of food, especially since I wasn't too hungry. I had a few bites of the food and the egg rolls and filled up. I ended up taking the rest home, cooked more rice, and was able to eat it for 2 more meals! I'm on a tight budget, so this was a great deal. The food tasted really good. The pork chop and marinated pork was flavorful. The viet egg rolls were delicious and they did a good job making the sauce. The shrimp was good but overcooked. The rice was old and dry.. I could tell it had been sitting around all day long (we got there an hour before closing). That's why I decided to take my food home and cook my own rice to eat it with. In general, I like the taste of the food but for carry out, they are not consistent with quantities and forget to put things in the dish. I've had them miss things multiple times or disappointed in the normal portion size compared to carry out. This time, they forgot the egg in one dish. We in on a Sunday around 1 and, weirdly, there was a church service in the middle of the restaurant. Not sure if that's a regular thing but it only lasted about 15 minutes or so while we were there. Service was good, except towards the end of the meal when we were ready for the check. That took some time. The pho was bland even with all the fixings- I wouldn't order it again. The chicken curry was really good though. It was not soupy like curries usually are- chicken and vegetables coated in a sweet and spicy curry sauce. Filthy dirty and terrible service. The host refused to seat us at an available table and said it was already reserved, however it remained empty during our meal. We waited at the table for over 20 minutes without being served and finally placed an order after asking three different members of staff for help. Forever my go-to pho whether it's for dine in or take out! Always consistent. Always delicious. Always welcoming, of course it helps when me and my family are there at least once a week and everyone remembers us. - usually get the 52, combination rice plate sub chopped pork instead of a pork chop. It just tastes better to me. - Aso get the rare steak pho, can't go wrong with that either. They do have "huy fong" aka the chili paste most pho's have out on the table, you just have to request it and they'll bring out a hefty dish. -The shrimp wrapped steak appetizers are 5 stars -The make your own spring rolls appetizer dish is to die but just so big! Yes, there are tons of places in Denver but my husband and I don't go that way during the week. We found Saigon Basil and let me tell you, it's become an almost weekly habit! For Asian restaurants I'm used to some shabbiness but followed by great food! I'm hoping the current appearance is kept up for years to come! I highly recommend the Ca nuong! A huge fish that you break a part and wrap in clear rice paper with all the goody veggies you can eat - my all time favorite dish. It takes at least 30 min to prepare so it's recommended to call in advance! My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Saigon Basil. I've come here at least 10 times and I've gotten the same thing every time because it's that good. One time a stranger walked up to my table and asked what we were eating because it looked so good. I get their #92, it's a huge platter of stuff you would put into a spring roll. They have pickled carrots and daikon, perfectly seasoned pork and chicken, this crispy golden shrimp paste (my favorite, didn't sound good initially but oh how naive I was), a fried softshell crab, and an assortment of green herbs like basil, cilantro, mint and a HUGE bed of vermicelli noodles. It easily feeds 3-4 people. They bring out a large bowl of hot water and spring roll rice paper, so you'll be making your own spring rolls. I usaully make fun of people who pay to make their own food at the table (because it's become such a hipster trend). This place makes me eat my words...again and again. I bring all of my friends here and they have all been impressed and left full. Give this place a try, but keep in mind they're usually packed during dinner (no matter the day). read more

My go to dish is bun with pork, shrimp and a fried spring roll. I am a bit of a stickler, that the meat must be hot and the noodles must be cold. Anything else is subpar and not how I think dish should be served. Saigon Basil, killed it! The meat was right off the grill and very tasty. The shrimp were well prepared and cooked. The noodles were cold and tender. The greens fresh. It's a typical dining experience, all the tables have numbers and at the end you pay at the counter. The service was fast and friendly. Sadly they did increase their price a little bit, but it was $1 increase over the past 2 years I've eaten there. The combo dish now is $11.59? Where else can you get this much food for this reasonable price??? I have not fund anything that is nearly as cost effective yet! Their lunch special (now $8.50) is soooo good too!! Very friendly and lots of good variety from pho to down home Vietnamese classics. I take my daughter here to broaden her expertise on Asian cuisine and the staff is very understanding with a 4 year old being amused with chopsticks and needing a sippy cup. The staff her are very polite and the food is very authentic l, the restaurant doesn't try to trick Americans with fake Asian dishes :) I recommend the pho, ca cao (caramelized fish dish), the canh jua should be offered in a smaller size but we very much enjoyed it! read more

This review is for the vegan pho, which is absolutely stuffed with noodles, veggies, tofu, herbs, and broth! The portions here are unreal, a "medium" size lasts for two full meals. I wish the veggie broth had more of that classic spiced pho flavor, it has more of a plain vegetable broth taste. The service here is horrible. We had a table of 6 and it took 10 minutes to get water let alone be greeted. Our waitress never took our drink order either but came around 15-20 minutes after arriving for a food order. When we placed our food order we told her the numbers which corresponded with the items in the menu. For every person she asked what is that? So basically the numbers are useless. Food came out hot and it was good. Not amazing or anything special but at least good. Our waitress never came back to check on us or fill up our waters. Not once. We had to get up to ask for the check and boxes which is ridiculous. I will absolutely not be back here. I could get the same quality of food almost anywhere else. read more

Stopped in for lunch before headed to RMNP. Pretty big restaurant and they had nice Christmas displays with several Christmas trees decorated nicely. It was such a nice surprise! Kids loved it! We had the canh chua lau ca (sweet and sour fish hot pot) and ca kho to (carmalized fish) along with a veggie noodle dish. Everything was delicious and prepared well. Children really liked the seafood egg noodle dish with veggies. Service was friendly. Very authentic Vietnamese food and the servers spoke both Vietnamese and English.
