Let me start by saying I'm a huge pho snob. I was so happy that a pho restaurant opened in the area finally. Nice clean place run by really kind folks! I was really surprised by the broth. The rice paper roll was also quite disappointing, full of shredded iceberg lettuce, something gray and pasty, and shrimp, all falling out of too thin wrap. Tried Pho Nam Restaurant for the first time; opted for a chicken Banh mi, spring rolls, and Thai tea. Despite being a regular at another Vietnamese spot, I wanted to explore. Unfortunately, the banh mi lacked flavor, the spring rolls weren't fresh, and the Thai tea had boba, which isn't typical. They did remake the tea, though. Overall, the food was decent. The wife and I were running errands on King St on a cold, snowy Friday night and we were hungry! After considering our options we decided on a nice hot bowl of pho. We were all set to drive to Annandale but paused to check Yelp. Pho Nam came up as an option several blocks away and we have it a go. Walking in, I didn't expect much. We we had our choice of tables and the waiter/cashier handed us our menus and water right away. The menu has a really decent selection of pho, rice plates, broth-less noodles and more. After ordering our pho we were quickly served and my god the broth was savoury. I slurped my #2 down in minutes while thawing down. If you enjoy lean meat with minimal fat and gristle, get the eye round steak. That's her favorite option for exactly those reasons and Pho Nam blew past our expectations. read more

First off, the entrance is small and a bit dingy-looking (when we went, there was a huge pile of cut up tree branches/leaves at the entrance that needed to be cleaned up) but the inside is very spacious and clean. The soup was very savory and full of flavor, the noodles were on the thin side with generous portions, and the price was very reasonable, especially for the location. Lean, paper thin slices of very flavorful beef, perfectly tender noodles, and pleasantly flavored broth. I didn't ask for the hot pepper sauce but will next time. We also had spring rolls and fried rolls, so delicious!!the spring rolls have finely shredded lettuce, which makes them not only more delicious but also easier to eat than when the lettuce leaves are whole. When I got my location to eat I was shocked at how bad the rolls looked no to go container, in a plastic bag. One of rolls split open. Came here a few weeks ago and ordered the pork bahn mi and Vietnamese coffee. At $9 for the bahn me it's expensive. But...this is old Town so I really can't complain. I don't mind paying for good food so the real question is, was it worth the extra $2 you'd pay at Eden Center? The answer is... Yup. The pork was delicious, veggies were fresh and they didn't soak it in mayo. The French bread was as it should be, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My only complaint, as others have pointed out, is there's NOT enough meat. Two slices of this delicious pork just ain't gonna cut it. . Four pieces would have been this sandwich stellar! On to the Vietnamese coffee. This was also good. Providing the punch to the tastebuds one would expect and not to sweet or to much ice. The food is okay. I would go back there again. They have limited seating which does give you space between tables. Only street meter parking unless you venture several blocks away. The sodas are provided by can with a glass. They do provide plastic to-go containers if you don't finish the pho. There was only one server (sitting down at table eating) and he was trying to provide service and eat his own meal, so you kind of felt like you were interrupting his dinner time. Anytime you did look his way to ask a question, he did come over and provide service so there was no gap in the service. The food came out quickly. Very flavorful broth! Everything was so fresh! I ordered the eye round pho and the meat was nice and tender. The noodles were cooked just right, not over cooked and not undercooked. I work in Alexandria and walk down the King Street every lunch break, I did not remember to see this place until the other day we went to the boat parade and need something to eat afterwards. My boyfriend is a big fan of Pho and wanted to try this, I am always skeptical about new Pho place but I gave it a try. Surprisingly, it was very good, I finally talked to the owner and he told me he cooked the broth every day. I was disappointed that now I am teleworking and don't need to come to the office otherwise I would have a bowl of Pho for my lunch sometime.
