Stopped here on a whim. They are part of a small strip of businesses and have ample parking. We ordered first at the counter and then sat down. They had a few orders before us and sounded like good bit of to-go orders. Our son got an Bulgogo Fries appetizer that came out first. It was pork over French fries and cheese. It was amazing, like a Vietnamese poutine. He said he could of got just that as a meal. Later my husband and I shared the deluxe sushi. It came with a rainbow roll and various sashimi. Saigon 88 express is a new gem that I have discovered. Located only 15 mins from the Pittsburgh airport, they specialize in delicious and quick Vietnamese food. This restaurant is a mom and pop restaurant with the chef being the husband and wife being the server. They are extremely kind, and make everyone feel welcome while also serving delicious food. Interior: bright and cheery, also well maintained and clean. Staff: very friendly and efficient Food: spring rolls with shrimp (goi cuon Tom) - large portions with a yummy peanut sauce. Pho dac biet- large portions with a delicious broth and fresh veggies (basil, bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeño) Avocado smoothie- this was so refreshing and made from fresh avocado. It was so good. I was STARVING after my 14 mile hike and was craving some bomb Vietnamese food. Saigon 88 was only a 20 minute drive away so my fiancé and I decided to give it a try. There is a small parking lot which is a plus. They're only offering takeout but there are two tables located outside. I recommend taking your food home because the outdoor seats are very uncomfortable. It was also super humid and sunny the day I went. We ordered the chicken pho, combo com, and Saigon fresh spring rolls to split. The pho broth was delicious and super flavorful! I grew up eating pho so I can definitely tell you this pho is authentic and perfectly salty but also a little sweet. I would've preferred more noodles. I felt like the portion was too small compared to how much soup and chicken I got. The combo rice was also fantastic and chocked full of meat. Their nuoc mam (fish sauce) is some of the best fish sauces I've ever had at a restaurant. The spring rolls were decent as well. Keep in mind that this isn't the typical spring rolls you would order (those are called goi cuon). The sauce that came with them was a little runny. I'm so glad I got to try this place! I frequent this store all the time and usually go for the Pho, the fried egg rolls, and fried dumplings, but we got this fresh roll today and man was it so tasty. The sauce is a perfect paring, not to thick or salty like other places. We slurped down our pho so quick I forgot to take a photo. This time I felt like the bowls got bigger! This is a tasty spot in McKees Rocks. If you're in the area, definitely check it out. If you're not normally around these parts and are looking for some good Vietnamese I'd say it's worth your trip. The Saigon Fresh Spring rolls were full of fresh mint and other fresh herbs. It has certainly raised my standards for what a fresh spring roll should be like. Very tasty. I got one to go. I got the Pork Patty Noodle Meal and to be honest was not a fan. Most of the meats were very processed and spam- like, as you can see in the photo. Half the restaurant was taken up by the kitchen and thats the first thing we noticed. It was made more obvious because it separated the room by an angle thus making weird corner spacing. Anyways we ordered the shrimp/pork rolls to start and beef pho as entres. The pork rolls were delicious however the beef pho was a tad bit salty. The portions were decent but for the price they could have added more meat. Additionally the meat was bunched up instead of individual separated. When I separated it myself, the meat was still raw in the middle. Luckily I caught this when the soup was still really hot. Overall, it was a decent meal. read more

Came across this place on the way to the Robinson Mall and I am SO glad I stopped by. I have to start by saying that the service is unmatched! The owners are SO nice and you can tell they really care and put a lot of time and love into their food. Hands down the nicest restaurant I've been to in pgh. My go to pho is the pho dac biet and I thought it was really good! The broth was really flavorful and there was plenty of meatballs/tripe/ and beef! The boba was the most surprising. I got the kumquat lemonade and my friend got the Thai ice tea. We both agreed that the boba was really chewy and our drinks were made perfectly. I would make the drive out just for the boba! The place is nice and clean and has enough seating for how many people are present. We came in on a Saturday. Our overall review is really a 4.5/5, but they definitely get a 5/5 for service and for the fact that there is great Vietnamese food in this area. Compared to other Vietnamese food we've had though some of the flavors are a little off but we'll go in more detail below for those of you interested. Extended review: You order and then seat yourself which we always like! The cashier was super nice and is also the one cooking. Times are tough with the staffing these days! So appreciate how kind they are. Some other reviews have mentioned it and we have to confirm that they are very attentive to detail! They will read out your order and confirm everything is correct which is great :) The prices are reasonable considering all of the inflation happening right now at this time. We are writing this as of Feb 2022, so whenever you're reading this we hope the inflation has gotten better haha. Food wise. The Bahn mi is Delicious! 5/5 for sure! The bread is good and soft and toasty. Perhaps the veggies could be more and pickled a bit more but it's great still. We had the dac biet (the special) which has Vietnamese ham and head cheese and such. We also had the tofu bahn mi. Both were good! The pho is about a 3.5/5 because the flavors are a bit too strong on the sweet/umami side where you can't drink the broth in our opinion, but the chicken pho was pretty decent. The sushi is a solid 3.5 to 4 out of 5 for us. There are some better locations, but being out in McKeesport it's nice to have a sushi option as well as the convenience of coming to one location! Truly a hidden gem hidden in the hills of McKees Rocks. It's a small cafe type shop with a small parking lot and an unassuming vibe overall. It's an order and pay at the counter before receiving your meal type of place. Their menu is quite simple and though they are sometimes out of stock of certain noodles. They'll let you know what they have. The friendly guy who took our order was actually the cook too, so although they did not have wide rice noodles for a dish, they substituted vermicelli noodles. My family got an order of fresh spring rolls, pork banh mi to start. I got the Bun-Vermicelli noodles and my parents got the Pho Dac Biet. Spring rolls were packed tight and they did not skimp on the shrimp! Sauce was solid, especially if you ask for chili paste with it. The pork banh mi reminds me of the traditional, non-flashy banh mi's you get. It's loaded with delicious marinated pork, fresh crispy French bread, and assortment of picketed vegetables with jalapeños and cilantro. The pho broth was very rich and delightful! Even on a warm day like today! The bun-vermicelli noodles with pork was refreshing and light! Lots of flavor encompasses the dish from the pickled vegetables to the crispy bean sprouts to the sweet/salty sauce/dressing that accompanied the dish.
