I enter the room, mind you it's 3:55 pm, i'm aware they aren't open yet so i'm okay with standing and waiting. However, the girl in there mumbles thats she's not open yet and that they don't open until 4. Already sounds like she doesn't want to be there. I'm nice amd say that its okay I'll just wait. So i'm standing there waiting and she walks out the room at 3:56-57. She say's nothing so I'm assuming I can just still stand there amd wait. Right at 3:58-59, ONE minute or TWO before opening no one is still there untill...... a lady and another girl come in. The lady has this worried look on her face and instead of being nice and speaking to me like a person. She was rude and her demeanor towards me was soo off. She basically said I wasn't allowed to be in there unless a worker was in there because its basically the rules and not allowed. But the way she said it was just rude. I told her NO ONE had told me that and mind you it's like 3:59pm and as she was basically expecting me to walk out and I am, she put her hand on my shoulder and to me that felt like she was helping me walk out but not in a nice way. My question is why be all that rude a minute before opening. All she had to do was tell me the rules and by then it would have been 4pm and I wouldn't have had to walk out. I just left. I was too stunned. I definitely wasn't going to leave my child with teenage workers that look like they hate their jobs and that other lady must have been the manager or something. Someone should definitely check her and tell her it's not okay to be rude or put her hands on people. I'm upset I had to cancel my membership but yeah. Not worth it. I'll take my business elsewhere.

The student rec center is a HUGE sports center that caters to students and members of the community…read moreof all abilities. All activities are scheduled so don't forget to check the ODU web site before venturing over. From the pool to the locker rooms everything is kept neat and clean. There is ample parking here but it may be a short walk to the facility. There is so much to see and do at the SRC. There is always a practice, or game happening. I'm not sure if there's a parking lot near this place but I just park at the garage where the parking office is, it should be a 5-10 min walk(Walking with friends talking gossip stuff maybe 20 mins lol). The check-in process was fast, for first-timers, you'll have to go to the desl and they'll show you how to register, as I remember you have to put your hands on the check-in thing 3 times then you're good to go. Well they'll teach you. After that you just have to punch in your UIN then put your hands on the check-in thing then you're good to go. I didn't have time to use the machines but they look amazing and new, and there is a big variety of machines. There's also a track on the secomd floor for people to jog. And there's a swimming pool, a climbing wall(not always open, look for the schedule online), many rooms for classes(some of them are free, look for them online), squash rackets etc. There's a place where you can rent all the equipment to play, I came here to play basketball so I rent a basketball, and it is a Nike. The reason I took one star off is because of the basketball court. Although it is huge and I like how they put a thing to block the farthest court so the intense games on the other side won't worry about us the chill people having our ball rolling into their court, the floor is slippery, which means it is dirty. The floor is also weird because the ball won't bounce back, I guess they are some cheap materials. Overall, it is a good recreation center to workout, especially it's free for students so you cannot ask for more.

The reason for the visit here that day was to celebrate my nephew's birthday. Many of his friends were there too. The storefront for the business is similar to how many other places are, but you can definitely see the big Ninja Warrior sign across the windows on the outside. After coming inside, there was a table area for everyone to sit. However, at that time, it was playtime for the kids. They were running through an obstacle course to try and beat their prior timed attempts. They were at this for quite a while, and it was fun to watch them try, especially after doing it awhile as you could tell they were getting tired out. I'd call that part mission accomplished. Once the obstacle course time was done, everyone came back to the table to celebrate my nephew's birthday. The staff were getting the next event set up during that time. Everyone had a great time with the cake. The second part of the play here involved the kids vs. adults. The lights were turned off, and it was basically like a Nerf War between them. I didn't do that part of it, but I did watch it all unfold. The kids were very quick to get the adults. There are several hiding areas to avoid getting caught or to sneak attack with the Nerf gun. There were also some mini snowballs you could throw around too. Once that part was done and the lights were back on, you could see everyone was tired out. Overall, this was a great place to have a birthday party. The staff were welcoming, and they were patient with the kids too. The atmosphere in here was tuned to the level of fun. They also have weekly summer camps and other offerings as well. There seems to be something for everyone here. If you are looking for a place to go for a birthday party or some other type of event, be sure to check this place out.

I went ahead and scheduled a free tour at the Virginia Beach location. The facility was a lot larger than it looked. A young lady came out and took my son to the back and he created his own game while hubby and I talked with the young man who seemed to be in charge. He explained their year long programs as well as their summer camp 3D modeling. They were very knowledgeable about STEM and the facility was super inviting. They had a 3D printer displayed out front. A couple of days later I went ahead and signed my son up for one of their week-long camps 9-12 Monday-Friday but at the Chesapeake location. He is super excited! I can't say enough good things about this school. I was also blown away by our initial tour. The classrooms were so orderly and peaceful, and the children were so happily engaged in their work. We've been with the school for the past four years now, and I've never regretted it once. My son is in Children's House and my daughter is in Lower Elementary. The teachers are all excellent and have allowed my children to make outstanding academic progress, and the overall atmosphere is warm, caring and family-like. I love how much the children learn without a lot of the negative pressure or homework that other schools seem to have. The atmosphere is also very sweet and my children have never had any kind of issues with other kids there. Overall, we're tremendously happy with the school. It feels like a bit of a hidden gem. My only criticism is that I wish they continued into later years!

My son transferred to McDonald Montessori from another Montessori school and it has been the best…read morething in the world for him. His anxiety dropped tremendously and he really, really enjoys going to school now. He was like a completely different child after the transition. The lower elementary classroom runs so smoothly and the children learn so much in an environment that doesn't seem pressured or intense. My son is blossoming both academically and socially at McDonald Montessori and we will be very sad at the end of third grade when he has to move on.
