Bible is a regular subject and there are daily prayers and a weekly chapel where all grades gather for worship and then to listen to an age-appropriate Biblical message. It's comforting knowing that our values and beliefs are being reinforced at school by like-minded adults, most of whom see their job at Excel as a ministry. Another aspect that I really appreciate is the small class sizes. There is only one class per grade, so my daughter has been with the same group of kids throughout her school career. This has allowed her to form deeper friendships than she would be able to having to start over with a new class each year and it also means I am familiar with most of her classmates and their parents so I know who she is hanging out with and what kind of homes they are from. Each teacher so far has had his or her own teaching style and personality, but I have no complaints about any of them. They have all been very loving and caring in their own way. Excel is non-Denominational and not sponsored by any particular church or denomination, so there is a diverse mix of students and teachers who attend many different Christian churches in the area. While it's a small school, it is still relatively ethnically diverse for its size. I expected that there would be a trade off with diversity when we chose to send our daughter there, but have been pleasantly surprised that she has never been the only person of color in her class and our interracial family has never once felt out of place or discriminated against in the slightest. Academically, I have no complaints. The curriculum (besides Bible, obviously) seems pretty standard and similar to what you'd find in a public school. My daughter is on part with her grade level. Yes, it is a private school. Yes, you have to pay money for something that the government is willing to give you for "free," but it's money well spent, in my opinion. We aren't wealthy. We are a working class family struggling to get by, but we are happy to go without many things to know that our children are growing up being taught about the redeeming love of Christ at the place they spend most of their waking hours because at the end of the day that's what will give them the best shot at being happy in life.

The services are open to the public, but your prayers can be fulfilled with a bought on your knees your lighting a candle anytime you need. The church keeps its doors open to the public during business type hours for public use. A small candle donation is not required but appreciated. The Catholic population of Reno was vast in the early years with no place of worship or fellowship. The cornerstone of the church was laid in 1906. In June of 1908 the cathedral was dedicated. All worship services were in full swing, but a fire destroyed the roof in 1909. It was rebuilt and rededicated in 1910 where it still stands tall for all to come. The first Bishop of Reno, Thomas Kiely Gorman was set as the Diocese of Reno. Through the years many restorations have taken place to retro fit the foundation. In the 1950s a wrap around mural surrounding the alter was installed. A one of a kind mural painted by Edith and Isabel Piczek, is considered "to be one of the finest works of its kind in America." The theme of the mural depicts "Adoration of the Lamb of God, our Lord in the Blessed Eucharist." The message of the mural depicts how important the modern family should accept sacrament for communion for their lives and the community. The murals presents images of "Saints from the Old Law," Abel, Moses, Ruth, Abraham, and Isaac in all their glory. Depictions of John the Baptist and the Lamb of God are presented in all majesty. The call of angels is a truth of faith in Catholic teachings. The door of St Thomas is adorned in all copper with two angels on either side. We dwell in constant companies of angels keeping us safe. It is interesting that the Saint Aquinas, related discussions of angels to location. This saint discusses: "could an angel be a non physical being said to occupy space?" The realm of the angels these days and the early thoughts from Aquinas have led to much of the mechanics of quantum physics. It's a mighty majesty to place angels and you can ponder their glory in an Aquinas dedication to his reverence. As the large copper doors are open to all. Come in and find yourself. Talk to the maker. Use the services to help yourself and those around you. May your faith be strong no matter what you believe or follow. Happiness is yours just listen and accept the blessings that surround you. Amen! May grace, serenity and peace be yours always!

We couldn't be happier with the well rounded education our children are receiving. The school holds a special place in our hearts because my husband attended as a child, and he has very fond memories of this school. The staff are really fantastic and caring! We appreciate the small class sizes so our children get plenty of attention. Echo Ridge is an excellent school, and we are so thankful to have this little gem in our community!

The entire staff is so kind and make it a point to make sure that the students and their families are known and welcomed. I highly recommend Summit Ridge as an incredible preschool that not only puts the children and their best interests first, but also assists in supporting the families of their students with Christ as the cornerstone and foundation.

The staff is kind, caring, and has a genuine love for the children and parents that you don't see often. The communication is never lacking and if there is an issue, the full staff is there supporting you through it. We love it so much I didn't even attempt to put my second child in day care until she was ready for Summit. Imagine taking your child to a preschool where they are willing to work on the same things you are working on at home, whatever that may be, listening, sharing, telling the truth, good bathroom habits, you name it and the team will help you. Stay away from this so-called academy if you are homeschooling your children. This small two person…read moreoperation is supposed to help design your curricula, keep records and give you a transcript. They are almost impossible to get in touch with. They want you to either contact them online --- to which they NEVER respond or you have to call and make an 'appointment' to talk to someone. IF one of the two women working in this tiny office calls you back, they do so from home with the dog barking in the background! They are in a tiny office suite yet the receptionist claims to not even know how many 'academic advisors they have working there! (ONE) . Unfortunately, we enrolled our son there for 9th grade thinking they would work with us to keep records and a transcript. He's completed all of his 9th grade work they gave us and he even accelerated in a couple of subjects and finished the entire year in 1/2 year but they said they can only count that as 1/2 years worth of work! It was the entire years curriculum for the subject completed in 1/2 the time -- most schools call that an AP or honors class! The worse part is spending thousands of dollars, we still have no transcripts! They keep saying that they need more work samples or they misplaced what we gave them or they need more details about phys ed class! We've sent 51 pages of work samples, tests etc. and we haven't heard back from them in MONTHS -- except when we get a bill saying we owe another $8 for the per-page charge when you upload your documents on their website! They will give you a curricula alright -- but after that, good luck getting them to respond or ever getting your transcript. I'll be sure to let everyone know how this tiny, unprofessional organization works. I am now spending more money on a lawyer who is contacting them to either get every penny back or get a transcript that I paid for.. I'm working on a website detailing all the delays, excuses and frustrations I got from St. Thomas Aquinas Academy so other parents don't waste any of their children's education money.
