As a college student, I didn't always have the luxury of dental insurance. So after an…read moreadventuresome night of drinking, I chipped my front teeth. Luckily at the time I was in a country that provided universal health and dental services to all inhabitants (Scotland). Unfortunately, I soon returned to my homeland that doesn't share the same priorities. I had damaged the root of my front tooth, and if I didn't want to walk around with a grey smile, I needed a crown. So I called around dentist's office all over the Tri-state, inquiring about their price. Had they mistaken me? I wasn't asking for a royal "crown." Just something to make me presentable. I soon realized that subsidized dental care is all I could afford. Healthpoint works on a sliding scale. The more you make the more you pay (and vice versa). My crown was only going to cost $270, a fraction of what other dentists were going to charge. So I went, had my tooth whittled down to a nub, and was fit with a temporary crown. Unfortunately, early Saturday morning (when the office was closed, nonetheless), I bit into a slice of pizza that contained more than pepperoni. I'd chewed up my crown and the only thing left was my nub tooth. Horror of all horrors...even in my nightmares I'd never looked so terrifying. To this day, I have reoccurring dreams about it. I spent the entire weekend in my basement with a wad of chewing gum covering my disfigured tooth. Monday, I was seen right away and fitted with another temporary crown. With a few minor adjustments, I was pleased with my permanent fixture. And I couldn't complain about the cost. I've gone to Healthpoint for cleanings, too. Annoyingly, you have to make two appointments for a cleaning: one for the X-rays (which are sent to the lab) and another for the actual cleaning. But again, if you don't have dental insurance, this beats the alternative.

This place is a joke. They like to schedule multiple visits for one issue so they can what I assume…read moreis make money off insurance. I honestly do not see how this place is still in business and I will be contacting the state. Ignorant. I would never EVER take anyone I love there. I wouldn't take an animal there!

I had a terrible experience getting this tooth filled there, the numbing wore off, she went to see other patients for an hour and I felt the entire thing, she tried to put topical numbing but it did not work. The person assisting who was a trainee realized after that she didn't even have the water on while drilling so it was like drilling chalk and choppy and painful. Two months later, I had an awful smell every time I flossed and extreme hot/cold sensitivity, pain when eating etc. So I decided to go to another dentist after reading more reviews similar to my experience and recommended I not return. The dentist I decided to go to said if they were to drill down to get to the rest of the decay out, it would be too close to the nerve and cause me to need a root canal. To save the nerve and tooth since it's a molar, they drilled it down & took out additional decay and have to put a crown on it. So I got fitted for another crown and get it done in two weeks. In total it cost 1700 to fix this. They also messed up the margin which made it more difficult to correct and I had very heavy bleeding. Do not go here and risk paying even more and be in more pain. Borrow money from a friend, out it in a credit card just anything besides going here. Most dental places have payment plans or some monthly program to get 2 appointments covered a year.

Today I went for the seating of the crown and after being there for over 2 and half hours for a 10 minute job I ended up leaving with a bad fit because I got tired of "dr" Evans wandering around. 3 people came and went in the next chair while I was there for almost 3 hours for a 10 minute job. Maybe one day he will appreciate clients and treat them like they matter. At least at a dental school they have supervisors to keep the incompetent on track.
