First Christian Church in Jacksonville is a place where faith is lived out every day. They stand by…read morewhat they believe, not just in words but in action. I've experienced this firsthand. In one of the loneliest seasons of my life, i felt unseen and uncertain of what was ahead. 1C didn't just offer words of encouragement, they showed up. They reminded me that I wasn't alone, that my future was still filled with promise, and that being part of a faith community means walking together, even when the path is hard. The group events and women's events mean a lot to me. The small group rooms are awesome, too! Each space feels like home, not just in the way it looks, but in the way people are cared for. Everything in the building feels intentional, from the thoughtful amenities to the team of people welcoming new folks and making sure no one gets overlooked. The leadership team is strong, reflective, and deeply committed. Each leader brings something unique. I really appreciate everyone's perspectives, especially when our common ground of faith feels so prominent.

This church is what I'd describe as a wannabe megachurch. I'm not sure where or how they got their…read moremoney, but they sure do flaunt it -- which makes sense because they preach hardline prosperity gospel. Here it is in a nutshell: they 'preach' if you aren't healthy, don't have the career you want, or can't provide for your family it is because you aren't 'giving enough to help the church. Meanwhile the paster of this McMansion church posts images of himself next to his expensive truck and home like some kind of marketing ad. The whole experience was flashy yet shallow and it doesn't help that you can't raise any of these concerns without several big, burly guys rushing to stand next to the pastor as if they are trained to stomp out debate. Another weird thing was one of the prayer team members kept pestering my daughter about how he used to be in some band called Enslave the Savior that is 'famous'. We looked up the band out of curiosity and all I can say is the person who wrote the songs is not my definition of a man of God. We won't be returning.

I've been attending this church (which has changed its name to Christ First) for 3 months. Bringing…read moremy grandchildren ages 2 and 4 as well. I find it to be alive, welcoming in consistent, genuine spirit; lots of learning and growth opportunities (Wed and Sun); racial mix is about even. Can't think of anything negative to say. Genuine faith lives here. Pastors are down to earth and provide good sermons. Encouraging but not pressurized. I'm very happy with this church as I endeavor to grow my faith internally and in life.
