I remember this one moment: This was in 5th grade. So the second day at Outdoor Science School, I was going to take a shower, then after I was done i was putting on my clothes and then I forgot my shorts and then I asked my cabin mate to get my shorts where was on my bed, and she said she couldn't find it neither the councelor, and I realized i had to get it without shorts, with UNDERWEAR, so i had to run with a towel and my towel was moving a lot and everyone saw me my underwear with some towel and it was so embarrassing and i cried because i knew they were gonna talk about it for months and then at dinner they pretended a little to be sorry and then I found out they told almost everyone then some kids told me their embarrassing secrets to make me feel better. I felt offended when someone mentioned it now, to be honest. Nowadays, I have slight panic attacks while changing in locker rooms that aren't my school's. And I was judged by half my peers and treated like a wild animal. I got called autistic so many times I honestly started to believe it. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I am not an adult but for my safety I am not going to reveal what years I had been to this school.

Weekly church on Fridays and family mass on Sundays help strengthen faith and bring everyone together in a meaningful way. It is unfortunate that some parents who disagree with recent changes have chosen to respond in ways that risk damaging the broader community they are leaving behind. Reasonable people can differ on decisions and may believe certain situations could have been handled differently. However, it is disappointing to see disagreements escalate in a manner that seems inconsistent with the Christian values of grace, charity, and respect that this community seeks to uphold. Although many of us may not know all the details behind recent decisions, it is reasonable to assume they were made with the best interests and protection of the children in mind. My eldest graduated St. Charles and entered high school with honors. Instead, she was met with the exact opposite; mockery, unkindness, and behavior that is the furthest thing from what God teaches. This isn't about one student. This is a cultural problem, a failure in guidance and leadership. If a school claims to prioritize faith, then it should actively teach empathy, humility, and compassion and not allow hurtful behavior to go unchecked. Do better. Hold your students accountable. Teach them to live the values you preach, not just speak them. No child deserves to feel alone or targeted in a place that claims to be built on God's love.
