A Roman Catholic Church in the heart of Vienna that was built in the early 1300's . This magnificent Gothic architecture is quite impressive and is the tallest church in Austria standing at 446 feet. The details and intricate stone carvings all the way around are impressive. A beauty during the day, at night the colorful lights provide another feel of the architecture. In 1782 Mozart married Constance Weber in the church. A must see for anyone visiting Vienna.
If the line isn't too long, I highly recommend going inside. It's absolutely beautiful. read more
Just . . . unbelievable. Soaring and majestic!
I am not a religious person, verily, I am atheist. But St. Stephens was so beautiful, rising up amidst modern shops and restaurants. It also features prominently in the Ultravox video for "Vienna", which I am a huge fan of.
Inside, it's chill and solemn. I went ahead a lit a candle, 'cos why not. Definitely worth a visit. read more
St. Stephen's Cathedral is the signature Catholic Church in Vienna. Gayle and I walked the entire perimeter of this impressive structure, and wandered inside. It's free to enter, including visiting the gift shop. But if you want to get closer, there's a modest admission charge. It's a stunning religious sanctuary, both inside and out. read more
