I was visiting Black Mountain last weekend and had to stop by for some sushi. The rolls were as fresh and good as I remembered, and the vegetable gyoza was one of the best appetizers I've ever had! The food came out super quick, the only downside was the fact that our waiter was inattentive and in a rush to get us out it seemed. read more

We hit this spot kinda late on a Sat. night, about 30 min. before close. Service was a bit lacking I think due to that. We never got any drink refills and had to wait for boxes and bill. The space was a little clustered due to cleaning for closing. We enjoyed the crab ragoons the filling was delicious althought they were a bit well done outside. We got hibachi dinners which were good. It came with miso soup which we didn't like but never had it before. The dinners themselves were good but nothing special. It comes with plain rice but you can get brown or fried rice for additional charge. Overall probably not a place we'll hurry back to but easy in and out and good location for us if we want Japanese food. read more

Tucked into a little strip mall that's tucked into a gorgeous wooded area. When we drove up the patio was full and there were a few folks in the entry. But they had us seated in just a couple minutes. Lots of locals here and lots picking up Takeout so we knew that was a great sign. Service was excellent! We were well taken care of but not bothered. I can't say enough great things about this place. The food was delicious and the service was so wonderful. Between all of us we tried the ramen, teriyaki, dinner bento boxes and udon noodles and everyone loved their meal. I thought we might be underdressed but they were warm and welcoming. Great little Japanese restaurant up here in the mountains of NC. The spring rolls were some of the best I've ever had. The presentation for all of the meals was top notch. The service was good and the prices weren't bad either. I ordered the chicken Teriyaki bento box so that I could try a lot of different things, and for $15, it was a great value. Ironically enough, the chicken Teriyaki was my least favorite part of the meal. It was ok, but the sauce was overly sweet, even for Teriyaki. Other than that, everything was delicious - the shrimp tempura, the California roll, the dumplings - all excellent! My husband ordered a steak noodle dish with GF buckwheat noodles and that was delicious too. All in all, we enjoyed it and were glad we gave it a try! read more

I ordered veggie and tofu stirfry soba noodles for pick up. I was disappointed and hungry when I tasted them. They had so much "soy sauce" on them it overwhelmed the noodles. I don't like bland food, but I also don't like food that is overly salty and that's all you taste. If I had been eating at the restaurant, I would have given the dish back to the kitchen and ordered something else. I ended up throwing them out and drinking lots of water the rest of the evening. read more

Nice little spot in Black Mountain. It's small, so come early or plan to wait on a table. The outside seating area is really great. Wait staff is friendly and efficient. Limited beer and wine menu, but you will find a selection that makes your taste buds happy - try the Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - excellent choice. Sushi chef are really pretty quick, presentation is excellent and the taste is great. Our fav is the Tokyo roll and the Shrimp Tempura roll. We were out in the Black Mountain area & we wanted something different so we tried this place. It was very busy when we arrived but, the staff were amazing & very quick to get us seated. We sat on the patio. We had several question about the menu & our waitress was very helpful in answering all of our questions. Although this restaurant was busy it wasn't that loud at all. The atmosphere was nice. I will definitely return to this restaurant & recommend it to family & friends. The plates are plentiful so it's best to show up hungry lol. read more

Delicious everything! We had the sashimi appetizer which was served with generous thick portions. We ordered a few rolls and each one was excellent and fresh. Ordered takeout for two sushi roles. Took over thirty minutes for the order to come out and the two sushi roles were put in the tiniest box and squished together. All ingredients mixed together, including the wasabi which covered half the roles. I expected better service and quality. I realize they are trying to save on boxes but this is just ridiculous. First, the sushi chefs ARE wearing masks. I avoided coming here due to the reviews mentioning that they were not. They are now, so no issue there. First time here, so not a breadth of info, but: It's clean. The tables are social-distance seating. I had a small serving of sashimi and it was excellent! I asked if I could be seated and asked for a seat outside. The guy asked "how many" and I said 1. He said no tables were available outside and I pointed to an open table. He then asked again how many and I said 1. He said "you can sit here" and pointed to a table inside. I said, "no, I've been patiently waiting to receive service and I would like to sit outside." The guy said "no", that he wouldn't sit me because I was only 1 person. Little does he know I'm an excellent tipper. The food here is mediocre, most especially compared to Thai Basil, where I've received excellent food at better prices and respectful service. Sushi in the mountains? Sushi 5 hours from the nearest ocean? Well paint me pink and call me Bessie the Cow, there is a sushi restaurant in the mountains. And do they ever serve up some serious food including southern specialties like sweet potato rolls, a favorite of our family. Four of our parties opted to split two Bento Boxes and order sushi on the side. The other, my bottomless pit of a college student, wanted one of his own plus a few rolls. Little did we know, the Bento Boxes are HUGE and can easily feed two or even an army. The food was also flavorful and had great presentation. The sushi was good, but paled in comparison to Bento-son. Service was friendly, inviting and helpful. Overall it was a wonderful experience. So yes, you can have good Sushi in the mountains. read more

I am sorry to say Saki Sushi does not have a system set up for the takeout food that works smoothly.I will continue to say the food is not what it was when they had eat in houseguests. We have been eating sake for many years and it's always been the very best and so good but today was different. My son always covers his food in white sauce and said his white sauce didn't taste right and it had white chunks in it. I got the special sushi and for the first time ever it was awful. Didn't stay together, couldn't even tell what all the foods were in and on top of it. the Deep fried tuna was so soggy and I tried to eat it but could only down a few pieces. We had three rolls-yellow fin, spicy tuna, and a soho. For the sushi lovers the spicy tuna was a fave! For those who aren't sushi lovers they have a good list of veggie rolls!
