Sakotome in Big Fork is our favorite place to eat and gets 5 stars for every visit. We usually trek up north in the boat during summer for a blast of a night and stellar food or drive up east shore if the weather isn't so great. Props to all the staff at this location they are truly amazing every time. We think it's not only the atmosphere and great food that makes this place truly great but the little things like the attention the staff puts forth to make sure your visit is special every time. Although the restaurant is small, but the atmosphere is pleasant. We were with another couple when we dined here 3 days ago. The hostess greeted us with a sweet smile and the waitress was very friendly. The food was really good! Everything we ordered was perfect. I love that its downtown bigfork. As much as I hate to hurt small business especially local ones, I've had the worst service at sake to me, amazing rolls albeit. We arrived early for our reservation and were told 15 mins. At 15 mins we were told another 20 and someone else was sat in front of us. We ended up at the bar and waited another 40 mins to eat. We wondered what the pint of having a reservation. It's clear when you look at the menu that you're supposed to order specialty rolls. Sure, they have maki and sashimi and all that but there's an entire page of the menu dedicated solely specialty rolls! Thus, I suggest you order accordingly. The fish is mind-bogglingly fresh, especially considering where you are when you're eating it. Definitely try the Drago's Breath, Riceless Roll and Bigfork Bomb. Sure, this isn't necessarily "authentic" but it's damn tasty. When you walk in, there are cool purple lanterns to your left and large sculptural murals on the wall -- pretty cool. This place doesn't seat very many people so I suggest getting there early or closer to closing to ensure more immediate seating. Be prepared to be there for a bit... when my boyfriend and I were there, they only had one server for the whole room and while she did as good of a job as she could have at the time, it's apparent that they could use another server. Aside from slow service, the only other huge complaint I have is that the Philadelphia roll had next to no cream cheese. This is a crime. The prices are also slightly expensive, but again, remember where you are. I've had sushi on the coast that wasn't as fresh or well-prepared. In a bigger place, I'd give them a solid 4-4.5 stars but considering it's Bigfork, MT, they deserve 5. They also get bonus points for Sumo Hour when all drinks are half off. read more

We love sushi! I'm a fisherman that works out of Seattle and am very picky about the fish that is presented to me in restaurants. Saketome is probably one of the better sushi places I've tried east of Seattle and I've tried a lot. Very fresh. I would recommend this place to anybody that has cravings for sushi. As a Montana native I am reluctant to try sushi unless visiting a coastal area. After the urging and assurance of some friends I tried Sake To Me and was blown away. We sampled several rolls and everything was delicious. Drago's Breath and S'happenin were my favorites. They serve beer and wine as well as liquor. I was delighted they had my favorite huckleberry vodka (great with lemonade). The space is small and they only had one server there every time we have gone so far. The service was good however, and the wait wasn't terribly long. Sushi dinner is always a social endeavor for me so I do not mind time to visit over drinks before food. read more

Very disappointing meal. Service was awful, drinks forgotten, table missed & skipped continuously through the meal. Menu is very plain from a sushi basis. Almost every roll includes tempura, panko, fried or cream cheese based. It you look at the depth of the menu, its shallow. Padded by frying and breading. My rating is based on the awful experience during a normal dinner service, no line or wait. But the lack of true fish & seafood options yet charging like they have a large selection is really the true problem. Its the only sushi for many miles and were in MT but not a good enough excuse to charge what they do and then perform that bad on top. read more

I really like this sushi! Bravo! Have been many times. But at the risk of posting this and ticking these folks off... the service is consistently bad. I won't sugar coat it. Some of the worst in the valley. I will keep returning when I get the craving though because the sushi is well done, fresh and unique. However, do not enter this place expecting to leave in 1-1.5 hours. Depending on how busy they are, we are typically 2-2.5 hours in to our dinner before we can escape. I understand the joint is small so they keep staff to a minimum. I can totally sympathize with a swamped waitress. Do not get me wrong here. I get it. It's just that something has to be tweaked or changed. Other restaurants with minimal staff make it work. Like I said, I love the sushi!! And the atmosphere is great. And who doesn't love Bigfork!? Born and raised in California, now living in Chicago, I know sushi. We eat it every two weeks or so like clockwork. I wish SaketoMe was in Chicago- it's some of the best I've had. Very creative menu- so be brave and order something intriguing or based on the name alone- nothing has ever disappointed. Would do no stars if I could. Not that I ate the food, rude front of house. Went in today. No tables without reservations. So we asked to get it to go. Girl came back and said we just sat a bunch of new tables so no food to go. How about saying okay but it's going to be 1/2 hour or 40 minutes. We could have gone for a walk and came back. If you are from a small town maybe you'd think this place is good. If you're accustomed to sushi in a big city, skip this place and try one of the other restaurants in Bigfork. I ate here last week and the service took forever. The waiter hardly said one word to any of us. I had a drink that was so sickeningly sweet that I couldn't even drink it. The sushi was more focused on "presentation" than quality. There was one roll I almost gagged on because it was so disgusting. The vegetarian option was so-so, but completely uncreative. It would be worthwhile to take a cue from some other sushi places and put a little thought into creating vegetarian options that are a bit more tasty. There were several members of my party who were completely drunk, and neither the server nor owner made an attempt to take their keys or call them a cab. A great sushi place I get to go to about every six months depending on when I am up in the Flathead area. The only downside is that every time I've gone with others and we order more than 6 rolls, our order has had mistakes and been served to us slowly. While I can understand that making a larger order of rolls takes time, sitting around for a couple hours waiting for rolls and having to ask the waitress where they are isn't fun. But, that aside, I highly recommend this place for their creative rolls and flavors and atmosphere. Never have I been disappointed with the food, just occasionally with the service. read more

I have never written a review before, but the experience I had At SakeToMe Sushi calls for one. We had a reservation at Seven that we had made four days previous because they recommend that we make one. We drove from Whitefish, which is a 45 minute drive. When we arrived, the hostess told us we needed to wait another 10 minutes, so we did. We came back, and were told we needed to wait still, as they were waiting for a table to leave who had already gotten their check and were just sitting around talking. In total we waited for an hour for our reserved seven o'clock table. When we were finally seated, their was one apology give, but half sincere. Our "waitress" didn't even take our order, an employee from the back came out to take our order who had a dirty dish rag hanging out their back pocket and took the order while sitting down at the table with us ( which is completely unprofessional ) When our order arrived only half of it came out and we had to wait another 15 minutes for the other half to come out. Our waitress only checked up on us once, and we had to flag down an employee to get our check. The sushi was so-so, the simple rolls were well prepared as to the specialty rolls were very embellished and overdone, to where you couldn't even taste the fish. We are veterans to sushi and the fine dining industry and both were very, very sub-par. If you're going out to sushi, Choose Wasabi, they are always on time, professional, and the fish is excellent. SakeToMe Sushi's only thing done right was the decor, and the only saving grace that didn't make get up and leave was my company. read more
