All ways a great place to eat Japanese cuisine. Believe it or not, it's reasonably priced AND accommodating.

I've been learning to say "yes" more than I say "no", which is harder than it seems. So, I nearly turned away the Japanese fish medley the lovely chef prepared just for me. I'm very glad I didn't as it was excellent as was everything else that followed. The space itself is stylish - a welcome sight compared to most other Villages establishments, which are outdated and crusty looking. If you are driving by for non Villages purposes, I'd recommend stopping. It wouldn't be too terribly far from i75 to venture for a very good sushi experience. Good wine list too! read more

Visited at lunchtime. Fantastic service. Awesome selection of sake. The house hot sake is great but the chilled organic is stellar. The sashimi and shrimp tempura apps came out quickly and were nicely prepared. Shrimp was tender and veggies included onion, mushroom, sweet potato. Harumaki and Gyoza were warm, flavorful, and accompanied by delicious sauces. The Wasabi is actually spicy (yay!) and the sushi is well rolled. Everything tasted fresh. The sushi chef was kind enough to take note that my husband liked spicy and made a special tobiko for him, which he is currently dreaming of. Only aspect less than perfect was that they'd run out of quail eggs, but we were so delighted with everything else that it was quickly forgotten. Cannot wait to return, great job Sakura! read more

Food is consistently good. Our waiter was not super friendly. But the food is worth the frustrated waiter.

I would give this place a 4/5. I really liked how fast the service was and their sushi was tasty but not the best I've ever had. I don't recommend trying the tempura banana roll, the flavors don't go well together. I would recommend this place to others! read more

We eat here on a regular basis. I can't believe I've never reviewed them! Well wait no more, here it is: This review is for the Colony Plaza location (Lady Lake is also good but not 'quite' to the level of Colony) I think that, is due to the staff. Sakura has some of the most delicious Japanese food around. Generally if you opt for hibachi chicken, it's dry. Not here - ever! It is the only Japanese restaurant I will order chicken due to that fact. The sushi is above par and the Gyozas are to die for. The bento box is loaded and they do not skimp, ever, on portions. I usually always get two meals out of one of the lunches, yep, that large. When we are out of town all Japanese steakhouses get measured by this one. It really is fabulous. Great prices, great portions, come eat here you won't regret it. read more

We were a party of six seated at 4:30pm on a Tuesday. A second party of six was seated next to us a few minutes later. The food and service were good. We finished our dinner but two of us were just getting started on our 2nd happy hour beer. This was only 35 minutes after being seated. At this time a large group arrived wanting to eat. Our waitress then asked us, and the group next to us, to leave so the large party could be seated. She even offered two styrofoam cups so we could take our beers with us while driving home, not the greatest idea, illegal, and the worst customer service I've seen in years. All 12 of us walked out, very disappointed, and I know I will not return. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

I love Sakura. The Tempura is really good. The miso soup actually tastes good and the ginger salad and the avocado salad are tasty and fresh. The sushi is good,, too. Perfect service and good portions. Rest rooms can use some attention, but otherwise, excellent in every way. read more

We ordered the Bento box dinner and it was the worse meal I have ever ordered. The Teriyaki was served over hot onions that were not even grilled but maybe steamed. the gyoza and shumai was a mystery as we could not taste anything but dough. Supposedly the $22 price is to lure you in but trust me, it is definitely not worth $5. I will never eat there again and much less, the girl that answered the phone was rude. read more

We were looking for a new place to try Asian food, and a friend recommended Sakura. They have a big menu with a lot of appetizers, such and a mixture of different kinds of Asian food. I had a hard time making a choice, but finally went with Steak Hibachi with noodles rather than rice. My husband got the Sesame Chicken with fried rice. My hibachi was a good stir fry of fresh vegetables that included broccoli, squash, carrots, mushrooms. The steak was chunks of tender beef, done just right. It was all very good. The noodles were just ok. I would order rice next time. The meal came with Yum sauce which I had never heard of, and would not go out of my way to get again, but that's me. Clear soup and small salad came with the meal. Soup was flavorful, salad small, but crispy. My husband enjoyed his sesame chicken. Chicken was cooked nicely and came with fresh stir fried broccoli and fried rice. The server was pleasant and attentive. We would definitely go again and try other hibachis or the pad Thai or bento boxes. They seem to have a nice lunch menu also. read more

While staying at a friends place, we ordered to go. Having been at many sushi places from NY to Australia I have to say this is some of the best sushi I have ever had. Rice to fish ratio excellent. The smoked salmon sushi was fantastic! Go if your looking for sushi, you don't need to scroll any further. read more

I don't have any idea how this place could average a four star rating. When I entered the restaurant, I was not greeted and apparently no host/hostess. I sat at the bar and was ignored for several minutes bar tender was inexperienced and didn't know what sushi was Japanese. The food was mediocre at best. I had a Spicy Yellowtail roll which was not spicey and made with some sort of minced white fish. Can't be sure it was actually yellowtail or not. I ordered a Chirashi bowl and server had no idea what that was. It was served on a plate and not a bowl as Chirashi should be presented. As I finished various items nobody removed plates I was finished with. There were bottles of cleaning products mixed in with drink containers around the bar. Pretty sure that's a violation. Server was spending more time talking with other employees. I have been to Japanese Restaurants around the U.S. and around the world. This was probably in the bottom 10% of all Japanese Restaurants I've been to. I'm giving two starts but I could easily give one. They've added more seating by removing the bar area, however the quality of food hasn't changed, it's absolutely fantastic. If you've visited in the past you'll love the new look. This was our second visit here and it is still a strong four star establishment. The Kani Salad alone is worth the visit. This time I ordered shrimp Philadelphia Roll and it was exceptional. My wife had a Crazy Roll(shrimp) and a shrimp asparagus roll and loved them both (the asparagus roll a little more. The house cab is good. Went here for lunch the other day and got the Bento Box (which is, in my opinion, the best way to make a snap judgment of any sushi joint). The sushi itself wasn't the greatest, I found it to be a bit bland, but the Teriyaki Shrimp was superb. All the ingredients they use in their food is fresh and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I will come here again, but most likely wont order the sushi :( The search for good Bento continues.... read more

We went there yesterday for Valentine's Day and had fabulous meals at the Hibachi grill. We eat here often for special occasions. We have been to many Japanese restaurants around the world and this is one of our Top Ten. We love the delicious leftovers for the next day! We love Sakura and we love Teppan Edo in the World Showcase at Disney World Epcot! Don't make the mistake of going to Fuji Japanese Steak House in Summerfield, the place is filthy dirty, service bad, and tasteless food. Sakura has all the bells-and-whistles going with tasty food, they add all the extra ingredients. the chefs know how to cook, and their wait staff are attentive and helpful. What more can you ask for? Located in the middle of nowhere, this restaurant is a beacon of light attracting customers wanting for sushi. I firmly believe Sakura provides the best sushi experience they can, it just happens to be meh. Cons: Me watching our order sit on the counter top for several minutes as our server horses around with several other employees by the entrance. Very slow to refill our water. Not one to really complain about this sort of thing but the lack of effort was evident. The worse part about the cons is that the restaurant was completely empty.... Pros: The sushi tasted fresh. Definitely won't be back here unless I'm visiting my friend out in the middle of nowhere...and even then I may hit yelp to see if there are any other options to compare them to. read more
