Very comfortable ambiance but unfortunately very bad service. I ordered a gin & ginger ale (perhaps…read moreone of the easiest drinks to prepare) and the eastern european waitress brings back a wine glass with gin and a separate bottle of ginger ale. DIY? Kind of weird but ok... I throw in half the bottle and stir with my spoon.
Second round comes up and I ask the bartender for a gin & ginger ale shaken. He doesn't even know what I mean when I ask for Bombay (mind you it's stocked on the shelf) ... He makes my drink, I thank him, no response. The drink doesn't even taste like gin, just straight up ginger ale. I give my friends a taste and they all agree.
I go back and politely tell him theres no taste of gin, can you throw in some more? Out of nowhere the waitress budges in with this weirdly defensive attitude and insists that it has the same amount of alcohol as the first drink. That may be true; but he clearly went overboard with the ginger ale and got the proportions wrong. 'Well you didn't tell us you didn't want the entire bottle of ginger ale' Is she serious? Am I supposed to babysit the bartender? Does he not know how to mix a drink? Clearly. Anyways, he doesn't budge and says that if I want more alcohol I have to pay for a shot and he'll throw it in. I give him back the glass full and tell him I won't have it.
When I head back to pay they want to charge me for the excuse of a drink they mindlessly prepared. Remember, I'd kindly given them the opportunity to correct the beverage. If he'd simply levelled out the drink (like any decent bartender would) I'd have paid for both drinks plus tip. The drinks are rather cheap so it wasn't the cost that bothered me - it's the precedent of how shitty they treated me as a customer. From the moment I mentioned that there was an issue her composure was distasteful and aggressive. No effort towards a resolution. And at this point, the bartender is now telling me that I WILL pay and that if not he will call the POLICE on me.... Yes, rather than resolving a trivial dispute he was threatening to call the police over a 5 euro drink. At this point, there was no way I was paying for it.
It's honestly too bad because I like the ambiance and I would have returned - but not after receiving such poor attention and dealing with such limited minds. I do understand that I'm from a place with high customer service expectations - but I wasn't asking for anything out of the ordinary. Knowing how to make customers happy and ensure future business isn't rocket science, it's common sense. The waitstaff here lacks it.
