Clean and friendly - having toured for Independent and Assisted living possibilities for our parents, we were impressed. Note, we don't know anyone that lives here, but we saw friendly interaction between the staff and residents. They have services for all levels of care. Despite Presbyterian Manor being considered one of the "better" elderly residences/care homes in this area, I would like to point out some of the negatives. FIRST: Poor-quality meals. Lack of consistency in meal quality is a huge issue here. Some meals are acceptable but many look/taste highly unappetizing, with overcooked, dry meat a common issue. Because the elderly tend to be polite and uncomplaining, Presbyterian Manor gets away with chronically mediocre food service. FYI: The generations headed to elder-care facilities in the near future, Boomers and GenX, will not tolerate what the generation you currently house put up with. SECOND: There are major infrastructure issues in this building, including A/C leaks that cause flooding in rooms, mice running throughout the building and into residents rooms, lack of sound-barrier insulation to reduce unacceptable noise level in rooms during construction, water and electricity outages, and construction debris left on the ground where residents walk during construction of a major addition that started in 2025 and will last until 2027. If the Manor has that much money for a multi-million-dollar addition, why can't they solve the EXISTING building infrastructure problems FIRST? And did it ever occur to management to offer some kind of compensation for the highly stressful inconvenience you are putting residents through for more than an entire year of constructing an addition? This elder-care facility is a symbol of how the U.S. treats its elderly--eager to take their hard-earned money, with a lack of respect on some matters simply because the elderly don't want to make waves and/or have a diminished ability to demand their rights. read more

My recent multi-day visit to Salina Presbyterian Manor to visit my grandfather was concerning due to several safety, maintenance, and quality-of-care issues. There were numerous obstacles throughout the facility, including hoses, nuts and bolts, ladders, and other construction materials and equipment. These hazards were not limited to the pathways leading to the parking area; they were present throughout the facility, including on the main floor. This creates a potentially dangerous situation for residents, particularly older adults who could easily trip, fall, and suffer serious injuries. During my stay, the water was shut off for most of the day. When it was restored, the water came out brown and remained discolored into the following day. The construction noise was also disruptive. Hammering, sawing, pounding, and the use of other construction equipment began early in the morning, slightly before 7:00 AM. This was particularly concerning given that many of the residents are elderly and may need a quiet environment to rest. My experience in the dining hall was also disappointing. The food appeared to be substandard and, in my opinion, barely edible. The condition of the property upon arrival was not reassuring either. The parking lot was dirty, and the entire front entrance area was fenced off, leaving only a small passageway through which visitors and residents had to enter the building. I understand that construction and renovations are sometimes necessary. However, the way this work was being conducted created significant safety concerns and negatively affected the overall experience. I hope management will address these issues, particularly the safety hazards, water quality, construction noise, cleanliness, and food quality, to ensure a safer and more comfortable environment for the residents. read more

Salina Presbyterian Manor has been such a blessing to my mom. There is no other community I wanted my mom to be in as she was showing signs of dementia and I knew she would decline over the years and would have to eventually have to move for more care. Mom has been in the Manor for 2.5 years and has always been treated with the upmost respect and dignity. She started her journey in the Assisted Living unit where the staff were excellent and would always show their love for her. She was always involved in many activities and loved exercise class. One of her favorites was the buggy rides around the pond. When it was time for her to move to the healthcare side, it was so incredibly easy as the staff moved all of her furniture and all I had to do was just be with her to help with the transition. She has flourished! She was welcomed with lots of love and very attentive staff, they have been nothing short of amazing!! She recently celebrated her 80th birthday and I was overwhelmed by the love and hugs she received. Sadie James asked the staff and Salina Technical school students to line up in the hallway and they sang Happy Birthday to her while she walked back to her room after lunch. I have witnessed many times while being with my mom in the dining room, the opportunity for residents to choose what they would like to eat and/or if they want something different, the staff is quick and prompt to have something made for them. I have been so overwhelmed by the kindness and love they show to everyone. When I take mom out for church, upon return she sees her home and repeats, oh I just LOVE my home!! I can not explain the peace it brings to my family and I that she is so happy and well cared for. THANK YOU, TEAM! I am SO GRATEFUL for you! read more
