Congregation members as friendly as before; fairly diverse racial makeup for a church that has historically reflected a predominantly African American congregation. Definitively a plus to have a women (pastor's wife) preaching at yesterday's service, though I'll confess I had some difficulty following her sermon - perhaps my fault since we arrived late. We might have arrived in time had the accurate time been posted on church website (website indicated service begins at 10:45am but it began at 10:00am for this 5th Sunday). Overall, as good start to a return on an old favorite place to worship. Hopefully some of the old snippy, closed, clique like behavior has dissipated, but may take time to tell. Looking forward to spending more time here and giving it another try.

I have also attended services here. My favorite feature was the glassed off section in the back where people can stand with noisy kids and still hear and see the service without interrupting everyone else's enjoyment of it. The people I've met from here, both in the church and out in the community, are always kind, friendly and happy to talk about what they love about the church and their beliefs.

This is a warm,friendly,inclusive and diverse church community that makes everyone feel welcome. My son got his confirmation here and has always felt like he could pray here as he wished through the good and tough times even as I battled cancer. It's home to us -simple, no frills but a coziness we were looking for when we moved back to Ann Arbor.

They also have a football league for kids, special events like a big fall bash, a pig roast, Christmas and Easter music/drama programs, pinewood derby car races in the winter, amidst other things as well. There is nursery for babies and toddlers and wonderful kids classes and church service with great leaders! My kids love it. Sunday morning service is at 11 am, with classes for all ages at 10 am. I thought he was very genuine and I admired how he loves and spent time with his family. This is a nice church, and it wasn't as big as I though it was going to be. Which is great. I like smaller and medium size churches because usually its more personable and you don't get lost in the #'s. First of all we got here late, just at the end of worship (around 1030a) and as soon as we walked in we were greeted, and greeted again before going into the sanctuary. It was good being in the house of God w/ God's ppl. We came not to look for faults or to be a spectator, but a participator and for hearing and receiving a Word from God through the man of God. Bishop Shelby's message during this service was titled "In Between the Lines" which was a very simple but powerful message. It was timely and needed, and I thank god for his obedience to the Spirit of God. Being there, I sensed the presence of God, and the love they had for people. If I lived in the Detroit area I would definitely come back, and maybe even consider this house as a home church. I'm not saying this church is perfect, but it makes a difference when the Pastor has a heart after God.
