The coffee is hot and strong. I normally have espresso but this satisfied my coffee fix. We had a breakfast special with eggs, bacon, and French toast. It came with fresh OJ. And a huge pile of bacon! I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and shared them with my DIL. First time going here. And I am very glad we did! I grew up in West Hartford & had never been to Sally & Bobs. Driven by thousands of times & thought it was a hole in the wall not worth trying. I was wrong. The restaurant is on North Main Street , just past the intersection of Farmington Avenue (West Hartford Center). There is free parking in a good sized lot just north of the restaurant, so don't stress about trying to find on street parking. The restaurant is clean, bright & inviting. Open for breakfast and lunch. We were there about 11:30 on a Friday. No wait, however, when we left there was a line. The servers (all of them cover for each other) were terrific. We felt welcomed & taken care of. My husband & I had breakfast - 2 omelettes, toast, home fries & coffee. Delicious. Reasonably priced. Although they are primarily known for their breakfasts, the deli sandwiches on the lunch menu are excellent. The turkey club is exactly what a turkey club sandwich should be in an old-school diner. Located in the center Sally and bobs is very popular for breakfest , we waited a couple min before being seated by the lovely staff. .the staff was very sweet and got our orders taking immediately. We got served our coffee quickly , they offer free coffee refills which I loved . I ordered the veggie eggs Benedict served with cooked spinach , mushrooms and , tomatos . The food was delicious and cooked perfectly ! The home fries were good as well . The space was a little crowded and very busy but overall we had a great experience . We went to Sally & Bob's Eatery for breakfast and it was great! I got the hash omelette and my wife got the spinach & tomato eggs benedict. The hash omelette was good and I got it served with their homemade hot sauce which was not too spicy but very tasty! This place is much bigger than it looks from the outside and they embrace the idea of the bottomless cup of coffee! My friend had to take a lengthy medical call just as we sat down and the servers never rushed us at any time. Several servers walk around refilling coffee at all times. The food came out quickly and I loved the options to substitute fruit for home fries and turkey sausage for pork sausage. Great service and good food! "Down on the corner Out in the street" (Creedence Clearwater Revival) Not too far from West Hartford's crazy busy corner where North Main Street hits Farmington Avenue you'll find a local institution known as Sally and Bob's. It's only been around since 1969. Just like the street corner they're near, Sally and Bob's was also crazy busy at 10am on a Tuesday. So busy that there was a wait to sit inside. So, with the nice weather, we gladly took a table at their outdoor patio by the front door. We had an excellent breakfast of two omelets and two coffees for $29.25 before tip. Both omelets came with a pile of home fries and toast. My Mexican Omelet ($13) was a thing of beauty with thinly sliced Chorizo, jalapenos, onions, tomato & Monterey Jack cheese. The home fries were great- small cubes of tender potatoes with a crispy surface. My two slices of rye toast were perfectly toasted. When our server (Jazz) asked if I wanted any ketchup or hot sauce for my omelet, I asked for hot sauce. Jazz asked if I wanted their homemade hot sauce, and this is where my breakfast soared into a new dimension. Now let's be real, if you're a hot sauce guy or gal, how can you possibly refuse to try someone's homemade hot sauce. I'm telling you, it was amazing, with a smoky chipotle flavor and a medium heat level. It was far from nuclear, but I'd rather have a ton of flavor than a white-hot Novocain burn. Portion sizes were great, we both took home half of our omelets and potatoes. The coffees were very good and were $3 each. We really enjoyed our visit to Sally and Bob's. We had driven by it maybe 100 times and always said "we should try them some day". Well yesterday was the day, and it was excellent. PRO TIP Free parking in a big lot behind the restaurant. A decent greasy spoon diner that needs some polish to truly shine Out again for another cold morning. Opted to go for a highly rated breakfast spot, and this place was one of the top rated. We get seated relatively quickly and our server was a little new so they were not as attentive as I would've liked. But everyone starts off new, so I didn't worry too much about it. Looking through their menu, I see french toast but I don't see the flavors I was looking for. After having a very good, custardy french toast in manchester, I wanted to get the same flavors but with that little extra to make it that much better. So I piece together my creation: Their Challah French toast, with their apples with cinnamon warmed up, pure maple syrup, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. The request goes over mostly decent. The Challah french toast is cooked well and has a little bit of custardy bites in the center. The apples with cinnamon were barely warmed up, not sweet enough to counteract the cinnamon, which they liberally tossed on the apples. The pure maple syrup was served hot on the side, and the scoop of ice cream was in slivers in a small cup. So I prop up the french toast, press the ice cream into the bottom of the small bowl to form a proper scoop, place it right on top, then drizzle with pure maple syrup. If they warmed up the apples more, into a cinnamon apple jam, then this could be an amazing french toast. If they actually used a decent vanilla ice cream and not one slightly freezer burnt, then it could've been stellar. But unfortunately those issues did exist on my plate, and although pretty good, was not what I was hoping for. read more

Anyone who's spent even a little bit of time in West Hartford has heard of Sally & Bob's. This homey breakfast hub dishes out all the classics--pancakes, French Toast, muffins, bagels, omelettes... you name it, along with their specials. The Banana French Toast (one of their specials) was a definite highlight. This consisted of two thick slabs of toast sandwiching whipped cream and topped with caramelized bananas, fresh berries and syrup. It was practically dessert. The Tower (another special) provided some savory balance to our brunch with loads of hash, homefries, scrambled egg and bacon. If they don't have any French Toast specials, the Challah French Toast is a solid alternative, but there is an upcharge for every topping. We washed it all down with their house coffee and our mornings were made. Sally & Bob's does tend to get packed, so show up early if you're with a large party.
