Medium WELL prime rib
Amber N.

We came in on a Friday for the Prime Rib Special and I requested medium rare. jasper, the server, claimed it was medium-medium well. Not confident in that statement, we requested a manager. Manager shared that he was confident that it'll come medium rare. Came out medium well. I requested to send it back and get a rib eye. Instead, the manager brings out the "executive chef" to somewhat "educate me" on how a prime rib is cooked. I responded, "that doesn't change that you gave me a medium well prime rib when you were confident that it'd come out medium rare". The manager went silent and said they'll bring a medium rare rib eye. When the bill came, it was charged on the bill. I scolded the server for neglecting the issue we just had. As a server, you should know what you are printing from your POS and presenting it to your guest. However, I believe she was expecting me to not read the receipt and just give my credit card. But I have the manager come back out to review the receipt, and comp half of the meal because we did not eat two of the prime ribs that we had ordered due to the temperatures being medium well. Not only we had poor service from the management team, the executive chef, and the server, I had such high expectation since the town had talked about this being their nicest restaurant on the island. Incredibly disappointed, I was strongly recommend to not come here unless you were absolutely desperate for food

We did a half-day fully-guided fishing charter through Salmon Falls Resort, and we lucked out with gorgeous weather and a fantastic captain who left us with memories for a lifetime. Captain Tony was mature, knowledgeable, and very professional despite being young! It was great to learn from someone who has lived in Ketchikan and been fishing his entire life. The boat was extremely clean and very nice and new looking. The whole ride was safe as could be. Having our licenses and gear included in the whole price was convenient and simple From start to finish of planning the trip with Colleen in the main office to the charter with Jesse who outfitted us and Captain Tony who guided us, and then dinner at Timbers--top notch all around. We cannot wait to return for longer next time!

Great location and great food! The Halibut Florentine was amazing! See photo for the presentation. It tasted as great as it looked! Also nice selection of cocktails. I would definitely make going to this restaurant a priority on your trip to Ketchikan. The falls are amazing as well.

This is our first experience going fishing at the Salmon Falls fishing resort. It is in a beautiful location and the lodge is so comfortable. The captains of the boats are great and do their best to give you a great time. Every single employees goes absolutely above and beyond to give you incredible service. There is nothing more they could do to make sure you are enjoying yourself. Our 16 year old grandson said this was his favorite fishing trip which says a lot. Thanks Salmon falls for a great experience. We will return in the future. I have to make sure you know that Captain Will is incredible and he made our trip the best. We want him on our next trip for sure.

Rooms are nothing special seemed to look and feel clean besides being old and they smelled like smoking rooms, Every draw in the dresser was broken, had to call down for TP. Food at the restaurant sub par par, my burger at lunch was burnt and I like some char but this was Burt with the gas flavor, also had halibut and chips it was undercooked . Our dinner from the night before was prime rib or should I say shoe leather horrible also had rib eye was super chewy not even a great flavor. The next night shrimp and grits the shrimp was way over cooked and grits had huge lumps it was alright, the food we ordered for our fishing trip we did not get we got someone else's order. At breakfast, all the tables were Dirty by the windows and only two other people other than us in the whole place. For the price I expected more we enjoyed old town better on the creek all the food around there was pretty good as for fishing found lots of it around there as well

Absolutely lovely. The food was phenomenal, service was incredible- away from the bustle of tourists on cruise. Truly a great experience. Friday Prime Rib Special is awesome! Great value for AK prices. Combine it with a hike to nearby Lunch Creek Falls!

We had a great time at Salmon Falls Resort. The staff was great, met some awesome people, and caught a ton of fish! Captain Will was a blast to be on the boat with for 3 days. He put us on the fish even in bad weather. We will definitely be back!

I recently spend a few days here as part of a management retreat with my employer. I was thoroughly impressed. In fact I plan on returning on my own in the future in order to spend more time at this lodge. The lodge is primarily an all inclusive fishing resort where you can go on guided saltwater, freshwater or fly fishing trips. They also cater to people who want to go hiking, whale watching, kayaking, sightseeing, or just relaxing. They have a large informal meeting room that is perfect for business meetings. On site is a very nice restaurant that serves steak, pasta and local seafood. They also have a full bar where the fishing guide that took you fishing during the day might show up for a beer in the evening. The rooms are clean and cozy. Outside each room is a small porch where you can watch the sunset, drink a beer and relax. Bald Eagles and other birds frequent the shoreline providing breathtaking photo opportunities. The best thing about this lodge is the people. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you need something just ask, if they don't have it they will get it. In the four days I stayed at this lodge I caught Halibut, Rockfish, Salmon and Trout. I got to see Orca whales, Humpback whales, Black bears, Bald Eagles and quite a bit of other wildlife. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone that wants an Alaskan fishing get away.

During our boat ride, we got to see bald-head eagle, see sea lion and a crazy amount of seals sun bathing. After the fun tour on the water, we arrived at Silver King Lodge. It is a small building with lots of wood curving, which was interesting. Right in front of the lodge, we saw some Sitka black tail fawns! Then off to a rainforest hike. Our guide told us that it was going to be "the easiest hike" you will ever do. We headed off to the Memorial Trail. Once we started the hike, we saw what he meant by that. The walking trail was a wide wooden trail, I assume it is probably is accessible by wheelchair too. And hence, the easiest hike. I don't even know if it can be called a "hike" at this point...LOL. The rainforest was pretty cool, it was mostly covered with different kinds of moss. We learned about moss and other plants and trees during our short walk. After taking in all the wonderful nature, it was time to walk back to the Silver King Lodge. The "hike" was about 20 minutes walk. And, we were walking slow, so the trail is kind of short. The picnic tables were all set up for us for the feast. Once we were all seated, the pot was brought over to each table and he dumped the pot of seafood gold onto our table. The seafood feast included crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, potatoes, onions, garlic, corn, and sausage. Oh my goodness they were awesome!!! So much crab legs and everything else... We all got down and dirty for this delectable feast. The ride back to the dock was much faster, since we didn't stop to look for any wildlife on the way back. Our tour guide kept us entertained on the ride back though. Our first excursion was a big success! We had a great time on this tour and feast. I had a high expectation for the feast, and it certainly delivered!

There are wood carving animals all over the lodge. Whoever did those, great talent!! We went for a short walk at the Memorial Trail. We saw many different kinds of trees and plants. Yummm~ On the way back to the marina, we even saw eagle catching a fish right in front of our eyes~ The memory is just priceless!!!

From the moment we arrived in alaska we had a personal shuttle waiting for us and the driver loaded our luggage and took us to the hotel where we were greeted by Michael who was the rep we made the arrangements with. he had set up up with all kinds of activities (we were not big on fishing everyday) We did fish one day and it was extraordinary our Guide took us out about an hour and we caught our limit of Silver Salmon with in just a few hours the we moved to another spot to catch habitat and caught our limit both in size and quantity with in 2 1/2 hours. on our way back we were talking and i mention I was hoping to see whales and he took a detour just so i could spot a few (Above and Beyond) Other Activities included a Crab Feast at the George Inlet Lodge & a Flight See Tour of the Falls. Overall I would highly recommend this Lodge and the Fishing trip. Especially if you are a fisherman. I can't fathom how much fish we would have caught if we were to go out again. PS The Lodge also have Breakfast & Dinner for us everyday prepared by an awesome chef. She always had great food for us.

The three of us have been on sport fishing boats for 40 years from Cabo San Lucas, San Diego, Neah Bay to Seward. We can deal with short, gruff and barely personable boat captains. What we couldn't deal with is he got gruffer, quieter and more non-responsive as the 5 day trip went on. The tipping point was on day 3 when he decided on his own we would spend all day going after our now limit of only 2 Kings. 3 hours in to this quest he hadn't told us about, he revealed it to us. I then calmly explained to him we were after quantity (Silvers, halibut, black rock) not these 2 fish. The only way I can explain his response is he went into utter shutdown, non-communicative, gruffer, friendly as a rattlesnake. 2+ hours before heading in he suggested because the fishing was so bad we should go in early. Never had we ever heard that from a boat captain. We said we would fish until the end. The result, one silver one rock fish for the whole day we had spent $3000 for. When we got back to the dock, boat after boat came in with limits. The fishing wasn't bad, Captain Jiggy had given up, for who knows why. One us went and spoke to the General Manager. No known action was taken but it appeared Jiggy was told about our complaint. Next day and last half day, same mopey Jiggy but thankfully we caught a barely acceptable amount of fish on day 4 (almost limit of silver, one black, 0 halibut) and then 2 silvers on the last half day. We then went and spoke to the assistant manager. She was nice but nothing happened. We suggested making up for the loss of fish on day 3 but she said that was illegal. Now to be clear, the day three skunking we took was not do to a bad fish day or bad fishing, it was Captain Jiggy going through the motions and hitting one blank spot after another. He did not appear to coordinate or even ask other captains where the action was. My polite response to his quest for 2 kings apparently sent him in to an emotional downward spiral. Not cool of him, and not cool we got no help from management. Very expensive trip for very crappy memories.
