Date of visit: July 19, 2025 We stopped at the restaurant here as part of a cruise excursion that took us around Ketchikan. This meal was a bit of a mixed bag, though more about presentation and delivery than about food. Our group was met outside by the food and beverage manager, who looked very proud of himself and his position. He welcomed us but then went into a lecture about how the seating will be arranged and not to get lost after the meal going to look at their waterfall because people have gotten lost in the past... The seating was a cluster. F&B Man started yelling out, "Do I have a party of 9?" If no takers, he then went down to the next number and so on until we got a winner and that's how we were seated. Now obviously I am not a professional seater or restaurant host, but given that this excursion was signed up for quite some time ago and the bus driver contacted the restaurant earlier in the day to advise of the number of kids meals and food allergy/sensitivity guests they would have, couldn't they also ask the driver to provide the number of guests and how many in each party? Our friend doesn't do seafood and he shared that with the bus driver. He was served a bacon cheeseburger; no inquiry about if he ate beef and/or pork, or how he would want it prepared... Thankfully he said it was great! At any rate, we all got seated like good little cattle and were served their Taste of Alaska; halibut with lemon, crab cake, salmon and some rice. I thought everything was quite good, though the salmon was a bit on the drier side. This review is for the Salmon Falls Restaurant. We came for dinner with locals. The resort itself is gorgeous. The restaurant is classy and looks exactly like an Alaskan lodge should look--with huge picture windows looking out onto the Tongas Narrows. The atmosphere is spot on. The menu seems extremely limited. We were there the first week in September so maybe they were cutting down the menu in view of the seasonal closing coming soon. I had a Ribeye which was $60+ and was kinda average. Very fatty, even for a ribeye. The sides (whipped potatoes and carrots) were good, but kind of skimpy. My wife wound up sending back her tomato soup which had some undercooked chickpeas. The good was good, but we were not wowed. Maybe it was just a bad night late in the season. I know that our local friends consider this to be one of the nicest restaurants in Ketchikan. I would try it again next year. read more

We did a half-day fully-guided fishing charter through Salmon Falls Resort, and we lucked out with a day of just sprinkles the last week of fishing and a captain who left us with memories for a lifetime for the first time fishing with our four year old son. Our Captain was mature, knowledgeable, and very professional! The boat was clean and he had lots of snacks which is great for kiddos. We enjoyed being able to book the trip, get our licenses and gear included in the whole price which made the booking convenient and simple. The Hotel/Resort, We stayed in a room that wasn't remodeled like the website described which was disappointing. The rooms were nothing fancy like the described in all the ads/videos on their website. They did feel clean, but smelled old, and many things broken in the room including flooring. The staff working were all so sweet and amazing. They cleaned every day and made sure we were happy. The game room was always open, but had nothing fancy. They didn't offer coffee, or snacks. They said they had s'mores at night but we never saw them. We ended up buying our own at the grocery store. Gift shop had a few things , but VERY overpriced a baseball hat with the salmon falls logo was almost $40 after taxes. Great fishing and views, average hotel stay and food. read more

We came in on a Friday for the Prime Rib Special and I requested medium rare. jasper, the server, claimed it was medium-medium well. Not confident in that statement, we requested a manager. Manager shared that he was confident that it'll come medium rare. Came out medium well. I requested to send it back and get a rib eye. Instead, the manager brings out the "executive chef" to somewhat "educate me" on how a prime rib is cooked. I responded, "that doesn't change that you gave me a medium well prime rib when you were confident that it'd come out medium rare". The manager went silent and said they'll bring a medium rare rib eye. When the bill came, it was charged on the bill. I scolded the server for neglecting the issue we just had. As a server, you should know what you are printing from your POS and presenting it to your guest. However, I believe she was expecting me to not read the receipt and just give my credit card. But I have the manager come back out to review the receipt, and comp half of the meal because we did not eat two of the prime ribs that we had ordered due to the temperatures being medium well. Not only we had poor service from the management team, the executive chef, and the server, I had such high expectation since the town had talked about this being their nicest restaurant on the island. Captain Tony was mature, knowledgeable, and very professional despite being young! It was great to learn from someone who has lived in Ketchikan and been fishing his entire life. The boat was extremely clean and very nice and new looking. The whole ride was safe as could be. Having our licenses and gear included in the whole price was convenient and simple From start to finish of planning the trip with Colleen in the main office to the charter with Jesse who outfitted us and Captain Tony who guided us, and then dinner at Timbers--top notch all around. Rename to Catchucant. What a joke. Stayed 4 days and there are no fish here. The resort is like a dude ranch for people who have no experience. If you're are real fisherman don't waste your money and time. I feel bad for the resort because at one time maybe 15 years ago it was different. read more

We had a wonderful time at Timber Ridge Restaurant. The building its self is perfect for looking out towards the water. Every seat has a a view! The drinks were tasty...would recommend the strawberry basil ten times over. The 10 year old highly recommends the burger as it was gone before the whole table was served. This is our first experience going fishing at the Salmon Falls fishing resort. It is in a beautiful location and the lodge is so comfortable. The captains of the boats are great and do their best to give you a great time. Every single employees goes absolutely above and beyond to give you incredible service. There is nothing more they could do to make sure you are enjoying yourself. Our 16 year old grandson said this was his favorite fishing trip which says a lot. Thanks Salmon falls for a great experience. We will return in the future. I have to make sure you know that Captain Will is incredible and he made our trip the best. Rooms are nothing special seemed to look and feel clean besides being old and they smelled like smoking rooms, Every draw in the dresser was broken, had to call down for TP. Food at the restaurant sub par par, my burger at lunch was burnt and I like some char but this was Burt with the gas flavor, also had halibut and chips it was undercooked . Our dinner from the night before was prime rib or should I say shoe leather horrible also had rib eye was super chewy not even a great flavor. The next night shrimp and grits the shrimp was way over cooked and grits had huge lumps it was alright, the food we ordered for our fishing trip we did not get we got someone else's order. At breakfast, all the tables were Dirty by the windows and only two other people other than us in the whole place. For the price I expected more we enjoyed old town better on the creek all the food around there was pretty good as for fishing found lots of it around there as well read more

If you're an avid fisherman, don't come here. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is good, their equipment great...but the fishing is nonexistent. We fished for four days and we're skunked for two. We paid extra to drop prawn traps and ended with less than ninety. $400 for 15 pounds! If your looking for a decent place to stay in Ketchikan, have fun, but don't expect fish in the "salmon capital ". BTW... they are not ADA compliant. read more

Salmon Falls Resort is essentially an angler's paradise. I've never seen salmon jumping out of the water so close to shore nor have I seen such hospitality and excellent customer service. The team members and crew members are happy to comply with any requests in addition to being friendly and professional. While I believe the addition of a laundry room would also be very helpful, my overall experience was very good. I fished with Captains Garrett and Ethan and both were incredibly knowledgeable and professional. Both got us on the salmon, halibut, and even spotted prawn. A group of 6 of us spent 3 nights at the resort and are already planning our return trip!!! Salmon Falls does a great job taking care of all the details to provide a true vacation. Reservations were easy, the office was great in assisting in getting covid testing arranged, pickup was on time and friendly with a quick drive from Ketchikan. At the resort the views are amazing, staff is friendly, the food is great and it's an overall wonderful environment. Our group enjoyed 2 days of fishing with Captain Will. I appreciated the high quality boat that we were on. Even with some moving water the boat was steady and everyone was comfortable. We were highly successful bringing in 25+ fish per day!! In addition to the great fishing/catching we saw a pod of orcas and many humpback whales. The experience was adventurous and peaceful all in one. I highly recommend it. read more

Tonights dinner was so so, we got a crabby waitress that you could tell did not want to be at work. It took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine and she became more irritated when I politely reminded her about the wine. Waitress was very short with the table and the other waitstaff spent more time at our table than our own waitress. I was a little disappointed that I ordered a $50 cut of prime rib and got pre selected sides. When I asked to Substitute sides and pay a the difference this bothered her as well. All in all a mediocre experience for mediocre food and service. We will give it another try in hopes it was just a bad day. read more

We had a great day of fishing. Captain Mike was very knowledgeable and he knew where to to get the rock fish, halibut, and salmon. He guided us every step of the way when landing a fish. After fishing we had dinner at the resort and the food was spectacular. All the staff were extremely friendly before and after fishing and eating. Two days later when it was time for us to return home we picked up our catch at the resort which was all nicely packaged and flash frozen and ready for the flight home. I recently spend a few days here as part of a management retreat with my employer. I was thoroughly impressed. In fact I plan on returning on my own in the future in order to spend more time at this lodge. The lodge is primarily an all inclusive fishing resort where you can go on guided saltwater, freshwater or fly fishing trips. They also cater to people who want to go hiking, whale watching, kayaking, sightseeing, or just relaxing. They have a large informal meeting room that is perfect for business meetings. On site is a very nice restaurant that serves steak, pasta and local seafood. They also have a full bar where the fishing guide that took you fishing during the day might show up for a beer in the evening. The rooms are clean and cozy. Outside each room is a small porch where you can watch the sunset, drink a beer and relax. Bald Eagles and other birds frequent the shoreline providing breathtaking photo opportunities. The best thing about this lodge is the people. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you need something just ask, if they don't have it they will get it. In the four days I stayed at this lodge I caught Halibut, Rockfish, Salmon and Trout. I got to see Orca whales, Humpback whales, Black bears, Bald Eagles and quite a bit of other wildlife. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone that wants an Alaskan fishing get away. read more

This fishing resort has gone thru new ownership & has so much to offer for families & guys who are looking for a great fishing destination. Their is also hiking nearby with great waterfalls. The food is wonderful & the bar is a great place to unwind. We had a great time fishing, even in May we caught 3 King salmon. The staff is so pleasant & offers shuttle service to Ketchikan & airport transportation. Do not miss out on this great resort!!!! Oh & our room had 2 double beds & extremely comfortable. This was a total rip off. I had to send my vodka tonic back because it had no vodka. My wife who hates liquor was my taster and she did not detect any vodka. The jumbo shrimp appetizer came with shrimp that were about 1-1/2" and when I asked the waitress about it she just said yes the shrimp was small but we gave you more than normal. Wow. The food sucked. It was awful and my customers were very disappointed after they heard how much I paid. I had 8 people and it was over $ 800 and left the restaurant thinking it was a complete ripoff. I never complain and hope I can help someone save money by avoiding this ripoff. read more

Fair resort with some very nice people . If your going there to fish, beware that they do not give you all the fish you catch. We caught several Halibut or nearly 80 pounds but were surprised when we got home to only have a couple very small filets. I am not sure if they keep guests fish for the restaurant or what. When we called and asked, they responded that maybe they made mistake and put fish into someone else's fish box. They said they would host us for a dinner one night if we were ever back In Ketchikan. A small gesture for missing out on having pounds of halibut that we paid for and caught and yet never received. A year later we were in Ketchikan and tried to take them up on their "make good" of dinner but were told the person who made that offer didn't work their anymore and the manager would not honor her offer. They clearly seen we had paid and fished at their resort the year before , but obviously used our fish for someone else and their poor customer service will keep us from ever going back . I had a fantastic week at Salmon Falls Resort in Ketchikan. I cannot say enough about the entire staff. Captain Bob was knowledgeable, educational and really got me in to the fish. Rory was engaged on the dock and a pleasure to spend time with. He is always great for a laugh! The restaurant served me one of the best prime rib meals I have ever had. Tender enough to cut with a spoon and the perfect doneness. The halibut dish was fantastic and overall service was great. The bar staff, Jared and Dana, were genuinely interested about my days events and always up for great conversation after a long day fishing. The General Manager Dave was great, not to mention Timber, the resident lodge dog. The Lodge rooms were comfortable, clean and relaxing when the day was over. All in all, from GM of the property through the wait staff, the people at Salmon Falls make you feel like part of the family. I can hardly wait for my return trip! read more

The resort is under new ownership and the restaurant has a new executive chef which has resulted in a truly fantastic experience. 2nd time for dinner at Salmon Falls Resort (2016 Season). 1st was ok, figured new owners give them some time to get it together. Wrong, 2nd time prime rib and fish, easy right? Halibut had to cut with a knife and prime rib was not the cut paid for, which I let slide, but was cold. Had requested MR, came back well done and looked like it had been boiled.
