I recently moved into the area and needed to find a new stylist for the first time in 13 years. I chose Salon Bellissima after looking at their website, stylists training and products used. I had made an appointment with Chelsie for a bayalage and cut. I missed the ferry and was 15 minutes late to my appointment. I called them but was worried. They were very nice about it my tardiness, luckily. Chelsie did a great job, giving my hair the color and cut I asked for perfectly. She is a very personable and skilled stylist. There are many stations, maybe 12 (?) all very close together so noise volume was very high and the environment wasn't the most relaxing. When I'm spending $350 and 4 hours, it's nice to have a relaxing environment. That said, everyone was very friendly and all seemed to get along well. I will be returning. read more

I went to this salon for my wedding makeup and hair and they did a fabulous job. I was so happy with the stylist Danielle , I can't recommend her enough. I had an early morning wedding and Danielle came in at 7 am which is way earlier than the salon usually opens. Many other salons were not so accommodating about the timing. I sent her some pictures of what look I wanted and she certainly did a great job. They were following all guidelines for COVID-19. I am so happy I chose them for my wedding. read more

I pamper myself with high-end hair products, haircuts, and color. My hair is thick, so it is a pleasure to get it dried and styled. I am new to the area and sought a salon that uses Davines products. I was so happy to find Salon Bellissima and booked an appointment for allover color and a haircut. The stylist and I had nice conversation and my color is fine. It's the haircut - one of the worst of my life. I started by saying that I needed the bulk taken out of my hair. I did not want any layers and got a couple inches off, but I got zero bulk taken out. I was never asked if I was happy with the cut and felt rushed out. I was told that the next clients were waiting and my hair wouldn't get styled. I left with a very damp and frizzy mess. On top of it all, I was charged full price. Sorry, so not happy here. read more

My most recent visit I booked with Chelsie. It was a terrible experience and I don't think I'll return. Super unfortunate since I've been going to this salon for 4 years. My og stylist left for personal reasons which chelsie had no hesitation to tell me all about when I sat in her seat for the first time. I asked for an all over color, she argued that because I'm planning on going lighter in the future that the best decision was to just touch up my roots for now. She's the professional so I reluctantly agreed. She ended up coloring my roots a totally different color then the rest of my hair (hair is black, roots turned out medium brown). She did not acknowledge this. During the drying process she asked me to brush my own hair while she cleaned the washing bowl. She came back and while brush drying my hair she hit me in the face with my own hair twice, I told her what was happening and she laughed it off saying "oh that happens sometimes when I'm handling long hair" then proceeded to do it two more times. During checkout I noticed that she tacked on a styling charge (straightened my hair) and a few other charges that I didn't recognize.. she didn't tell me that the services she was providing me would be at an additional cost. I don't leave bad reviews ever but holy cow this was a doozy. I didn't make a fuss, paid the full cost, and left a tip anyways because bellissima as a business that has treated me well in the past. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on though. read more

Visited Salon Bellissima for the first time this weekend by recommendation. I was booked with Lacey for a haircut, and she did an excellent job. I had decided to transition from shoulder length hair to a much shorter, asymmetrical look. Lacey took time to talk to me in depth about what I wanted and kept checking in throughout the appointment so that I got the look I wanted exactly. Plus, she was super nice to chat with. The Salon is very cozy and all the ladies there are very welcoming. I also enjoyed looking at the clothing & accessories in the small boutique afterward. Fun! read more

I went to this Salon for a hair cut that was super different to what I usually would have gotten because of good past experiences with them. April gave me the "Jennifer Anniston" haircut and after going home I realized it didn't really suit me and I didn't love it on me. A couple of weeks later I went back to April for some adjustments and came home LOVING my hair. This was my first time going to this salon. My stylist was super kind and personable, but my hair didn't turn out how I wanted to at all. I got a balayage using foils. I wanted to just lighten up my hair a little more for the summer. It turned out super blonde which I didn't mind at all, but she ended up dying my roots and I guess the color took too much to my hair and it ended up turning a weird brown purple color. It also made the fade from my roots to ends super harsh, so it kind of just looks like a grown out balayage. She said it would go away after a couple washes, and I still have a weird purple tint on my roots and it has been over two months. Although the environment was really great and welcoming, I am somewhat disappointed and will probably be dying my hair back to brown despite the nearly $300 I spent. read more

Ever have a haircut that you are embarrassed by? I have. And I got it at Salon Bellissima. My stylist used clippers in a haphazard way on the side of my head, and was unable to properly blend the sides into the top. Looked like a mushroom head. Once she was finished with the style, I asked her for styling techniques and advice. Her response was, "I don't know. I'm not a man." Seems like as an experienced stylist (maybe that is where I wrongly assumed), should know how to style both men and women. Won't be retuning. read more

Joanna Littlefield is a master. I began seeing her in ...oh goodness... 2000 at her studio downtown. I have since moved to Portland and have yet to find someone as amazing with cuts and color as she is. Long story - but I happened to get an appointment with her while I was in Bellingham visiting this past week. After not having seen her for 7 years, we were able to pick up right where we left off! Joanna cut my hair perfectly. I mean, really. I can blow dry and flat iron with NO effort. This is the best cut I have had in 7 years. No joke. I totally trust her and her judgement. She KNOWS hair. Though I still love my stylist in Portland, Joanna is really the best at what she does and I will honestly be getting my hair done on my visits to Bellingham much more often. I really loved this salon. I've been going back to Lacey for my balayage twice now. She is so incredibly kind and friendly, I had to be in the salon for a few hours for my hair but it didn't even seem that long because Lacey made my experience so enjoyable! Speaking on terms of my hair, it came put exactly the way I wanted. And thats exactly why I keep going back to her! She does everything in her power to give you what you asked for. I usually never want to get my hair colored but Lacey has changed my mind forever, I would highly recommend going to this salon. I am so happy to have found this salon. I've been to a few places in the Fairhaven area, and I just haven't been impressed. I always left feeling like I could have done a better job styling my hair. For a while, I was going to an Aveda salon in Fairhaven, and although I thought the stylists did a good job, I became very annoyed because the staff turnover was very high. After 3 different stylists left, I decided it was time for me to find a place with more stability. I tried Salon Bellissima. Kristen is my stylist and she is wonderful. She did a great job with my cut and color, and she has a wonderful personality. I referred my husband to this salon and Anna cut his hair.
